Chapter 10 - The Murderer is One of Us

Although it was difficult, Kenta and Sota accepted the difficult task of assassinating the two Uchiha elders without hesitation. They exchanged glances before nodding firmly.

"Consider it done."

Yuichi then went on to give them specific instructions. "I'll assign others to assist you. Make sure no one finds out it was us," he said. The two nodded confidently, promising they wouldn't fail.

Although the second and third elders were once Elite Jōnin, their strength had declined due to age. Taking them out wouldn't be hard for Kenta and Sota, but the challenge lay in ensuring their actions remained hidden.

Yuchi thought to himself, 'I hope they won't disappoint me.' If he had done it himself, the task would have been easy and undetectable, but part of his plan was to develop his subordinates.

After about two hours, Yuichi received confirmation of their success. The system chimed in, signalling the completion of the mission with a reward of 50 explosive tags and 2,000 evil points.

While the reward was modest, Yuichi felt a sense of satisfaction that the operation had gone smoothly. He figured that he could pay a visit to Uchiha Mikoto later to collect even more points.

Kenta and Sota returned shortly afterwards, reporting their success. "Lord Yuichi, we completed the mission without leaving any traces."

"Well done," Yuichi responded, handing them a scroll containing a B-rank Fire Style ninjutsu, Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation.

"Take this as your reward. Burn the scroll once you've learned it. Also, leave the weapons you used behind."

The two were ecstatic. This was a powerful, fire-style technique, revered in the Uchiha clan. Although classified as B-rank, in the hands of a skilled user, its power could rival even A-rank or S-rank jutsu.

After dismissing Kenta and Sota, Yuichi returned to his own training. Despite having reached Kage level, he still dedicated time daily to refining his chakra and improving his skills.

Before awakening his system powers, Yuichi had already achieved near-Kage strength through sheer effort. Now, as a full-fledged Kage-level ninja, his chakra reserves were more than ten times what they once were, and the quality of his chakra had improved drastically. Even the same jutsu, when used now, had far more devastating effects than before.

Satisfied with his progress, Yuichi contemplated testing the Shikai form of his Ryūjin Jakka sword.

"I'll need to find a secluded place for that," he mused.

He knew that once fully unleashed, Ryūjin Jakka's power could reduce even Kage-level opponents to ashes. However, he refrained from revealing his trump card prematurely. For a shinobi, keeping one's ace hidden was crucial to survival.

The following day, Yuichi trained his Lightning Style: Chidori and the newly obtained Fire Release: Great Fire Annihilation. Ninjutsu purchased from the system store could be used directly without learning at all, and it is very easy.

He also worked on his taijutsu and swordsmanship, further refining his combat abilities. Midway through his training, a messenger arrived with urgent news: the bodies of the second and third Uchiha elders had been discovered.

At the scene, Uchiha Fugaku stood grim-faced, rage boiling beneath the surface. The atmosphere around him was tense, and nearby clan members muttered in shock and fear.

"Who could have done this?" Yuichi exclaimed as he approached the gathering, his voice filled with righteous anger.

"Who would dare kill our clan elders? We must find the murderer and bring them to justice."

Uchiha Kenta, knowing the truth, marvelled at Yuichi's acting skills.

'As expected of Lord Yuichi,' he thought, impressed by how convincingly Yuichi played the part of the concerned captain.

"Captain Yuichi, are you really unaware of who did this?" Uchiha Lin asked, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"If I knew, I would have already apprehended the culprit," Yuichi responded coldly. "The elders served the clan with honor. We cannot let their deaths go unpunished."

"Yes, the murderer must be caught and dealt with!" shouted some of the onlookers, stirred by Yuichi's words.

Uchiha Fugaku, however, wasn't swayed. He glared at Yuichi, his suspicion evident. If looks could kill, Yuichi would have already been cut to pieces. Fugaku was certain Yuichi was behind the assassination, but he had no proof—yet.

"As the captain of the Konoha Police Force guard, I bear responsibility for this tragedy," Yuichi said solemnly, his expression full of guilt. "I won't rest until we find who did this."

Uchiha Kenta quickly chimed in, supporting Yuichi. "Captain, it's not your fault. The murderer is clearly a cunning one. We'll find them."

Yuichi and Kenta played their parts flawlessly, convincing the majority of the clan that Yuichi was innocent. Uchiha Fugaku, though, wasn't so easily swayed.

"I believe the murderer is one of us," Fugaku declared, stepping forward. His words caused a stir among the clan members. "There's no way an outsider could have gotten this close without help."

"Lord Fugaku, don't speak recklessly," one clan member protested. "You can't accuse our own people without proof!"

"Yes, blaming someone within the clan without evidence will only cause more division," another added.

Fugaku clenched his fists, frustrated by the lack of support. He was convinced that Yuichi was responsible, but without evidence, his accusations would only backfire.

Uchiha Lin, standing nearby, shook his head in silent disapproval of Fugaku's brashness.

"We'll investigate thoroughly," Fugaku said, recovering some of his composure. "We will search the entire village if necessary, starting with Uchiha territory. The killer has left some trace, and I intend to find it."

Yuichi remained outwardly calm as Fugaku's gaze pierced him. Fugaku might suspect him, but without solid proof, there was little he could do. YYuichi was confident that the assassination had been carried out flawlessly, and even if some small clue had been left behind, it would be impossible to trace it back to him directly.

Despite the mounting tension within the Uchiha clan, Yuichi's position remained secure. As he watched Fugaku's frustration grow, he silently revelled in the chaos he had sown.

He had eliminated two of the clan's biggest obstacles, and now he only needed to wait for Fugaku to make his next move.

As Fugaku ordered the investigation to begin, Ye Feng smiled inwardly.

The real game was just beginning.
