Chapter 10 - Unexpected Meeting

Rei Lin, on the other hand, continued on his way as he examined the spatial ring of the old man. But the moment he tried to open it, he frowned.

"Damn… it's sealed. What the hell did he have in here that he went this far to protect it?" he muttered.

Fortunately, with the help of Shi Yun's inheritance, Rei Lin had already reached Tier 3 proficiency in arrays and formations. Shi Yun had been a monster who dabbled in nearly every form of mystical art—from alchemy and poison mastery to formation crafting and weapon forging.

With his System Cheat, he even randomly gained poison mastery overnight. One day, despite never practicing poison arts before, he suddenly became the King of Poisons—his very breath capable of poisoning everything within a kilometer. That's the kind of terrifying freak Shi Yun was. Rei Lin couldn't help but wonder if he too might eventually gain such mastery through random trades and system rewards.

Thanks to this, Rei Lin had developed a solid foundation in many disciplines, and some were already on the verge of unlocking the Intermediate section of thier memories. As he grew stronger, more fragments of Shi Yun's memories would continue to unlock. If the System was his number one cheat, then Shi Yun's memories were easily number two. And realistically speaking, right now—those memories might already be his most valuable asset.

The seal on the ring was only a Tier 2 restriction, and after a bit of effort, Rei Lin broke through it.

A flash of dazzling light spilled out from the ring—and then he saw its contents.

His eyes widened.

Piles of gold coins, precious spirit herbs, rare minerals, and even a beast egg that emitted a faint warmth. Spiritual weapons and talismans lay neatly arranged inside, along with several spirit-grade pills and some unknown ancient artifacts.

Rei Lin chuckled softly.

"So the old man wasn't just arrogant… he was hiding a damn treasure vault."

"Hmm… a Spirit Beast Egg, and even many items that can nourish a beast," Rei Lin mumbled as he examined the pure white egg, its surface laced with delicate azure cloud-like patterns.

From the aura it emitted, he could already tell—it wasn't ordinary.

"It seems this egg belongs to a high-ranking beast," Rei Lin muttered, his eyes narrowing in thought.

He decided not to rush. "I'll hatch it later… once I'm somewhere more secure."

Rei Lin then stored the spatial ring away and began hopping from one shop to another, browsing goods that caught his interest. Eventually, he arrived at one of the best establishments in Phoenix City—"Phoenix Haven."

While unknown to him, he also replaced the current number one on Wealth leaderboard and become the number one with over 20 billion gold Coins, a number that instantly made some rub thier eyes wondering if thier eyes are decieving them as player forum instantly ignited, while unaware of all this Rei Lin entered the Phoenix Heaven.

"Let's see what this place has to offer," Rei Lin muttered.

As he entered, his sharp spiritual sense instantly picked up a familiar presence—the same graceful woman who had briefly glanced at him earlier. She had been speaking to three youngsters, but the moment she noticed Rei Lin walk in, she left them behind and approached him directly.

"Did you really kill the City Lord?" she asked calmly.

Rei Lin looked at her and then plainly replied. "Yes. He tried to extort me, so I killed him."

The woman smiled. "My name is Feng Yuxiang, but you may call me Madam Feng."

Madam Feng was not simple. She was once a Divine Beast in human form, cursed and banished to the lower realms. While she now ran Phoenix Haven, few knew of her true origins. Of the three youths who had been speaking with her, one was a Spirit King and the other two were Spirit Masters—but even they paled in comparison to Rei Lin.

She had been observing everything from afar. Watching Rei Lin kill a Spirit Grandmaster with a single spear strike… it shook even her calm heart.

A Spirit Grandmaster was a figure that could easily slay over thirty Spirit Masters, yet now, one had perished at Rei Lin's hands.

That fact alone deeply intrigued Madam Feng.

"I was going to show something to those three," she said casually, glancing at the youths she had just left. "Would you like to join us?"

Rei Lin thought for a moment before nodding.

"By the way, what should I call you?" she asked.

"Rei Lin. That's my name," he replied calmly.

She smiled gently and turned to the three waiting cultivators. "Sorry to change the plan, but you guys don't mind if I show him as well, right?"

One of the young men—slightly older than Rei Lin, dressed in pale blue robes—gave a polite nod. "It's fine," he said. "I'm Yu Tian, by the way."

Rei Lin gave a small nod back. "Rei Lin," he replied simply.

Yu Tian blinked for a second, as if trying to confirm something, while the girl beside him—an elegant beauty with her hair tied into a long silver braid—looked at Rei Lin curiously. She leaned slightly closer to Yu Tian and whispered:

"Wait… did he just say Rei Lin? Is that the same Rei Lin who's number one on the wealth ranking list?"

She didn't dare speak too loudly, but her words still carried just enough for everyone nearby to hear.

Rei Lin caught the whisper. With a casual thought, he opened his Player Screen, confirming the truth for himself.

"It seems the wealth of that old man was already added to my account," he muttered under his breath, then looked up and responded plainly, "Yes, that's me."

The beautiful girl blinked in surprise before giving a polite smile. "Ah, my name is Yu Rou," she said softly.

The third person in their group, a girl with a quiet presence and a mysterious aura, stepped forward as well. "Xiao Hua. That's my name," she introduced herself in a low voice.

Rei Lin simply nodded at them both, offering no further words. He didn't seem arrogant—just calm, reserved, and difficult to read.
