For a while, Ludwig continued staring at the distant mountains, his attention fixed on the direction in which the dragon had disappeared.
Seven days.
He had been given an entire week to deliver Kaiser's head, and if he failed, Bastos would supposedly become the property of an oversized lizard with an exaggerated sense of entitlement.
What a wonderful way to start the morning.
"You're not seriously thinking of going after it, are you?" Celine asked.
Ludwig turned toward her. "Why wouldn't I? The bastard was kind enough to come all the way here, damage our property, threaten everyone living under our roof, and then give us seven days to think about it. Would be rude not to return the visit."
Celine stared at him for several seconds before shaking her head.
"You're unbelievable."
"What?"
"You're being petty."
"Petty? Celine, that thing threatened to burn down our entire territory."
"And your first thought is to find its home and do the same thing to it?"
