Ludwig blinked.
"...Your curse?"
"LONG AGO, I PLACED MY MARK UPON A DAUGHTER OF THE LUFONDAL IMPERIAL FAMILY. THAT MARK WAS MINE. ITS POWER, ITS PURPOSE, AND THE LIFE IT CLAIMED WERE MINE TO DECIDE."
Ludwig's eyes narrowed.
The imperial princess.
He remembered the matter now.
Kaiser had been involved in removing a particularly troublesome curse from the emperor's daughter.
At the time, Ludwig had been more concerned with the immediate consequences than with the identity of the creature responsible.
Apparently, that oversight had finally come back to bite him.
Or, judging from the size of the dragon, swallow him whole.
The creature continued.
"YET SOME INSOLENT THIEF DARED REMOVE WHAT I HAD PLACED UPON HER. HE UNRAVELED MY MAGIC AND CLAIMED THE RIGHT TO INTERFERE WITH MY POSSESSIONS."
Ludwig folded his arms.
"That's an interesting way to describe lifting a curse."
"IT WAS MINE!"
The dragon's roar shook the manor walls.
Several guards flinched.
