A glowing purple orb dropped from the sky. Before the wooden faces could fully form, the orb smashed through them. Obito's Wood Style wasn't nearly as tough as Hashirama's. The powerful attack not only tore through the defenses but also engulfed Obito completely.
As the orb got closer, Obito's expression changed. His Three-Tomoe Sharingan began spinning faster and faster—until they merged into a Mangekyou pattern that clearly reflected in Sasuke's eyes.
"So you're finally using it," Sasuke said coldly, arms crossed inside Susano'o. "But I already know you can only keep it up for five minutes. It doesn't mean anything to me now."
The orb exploded all at once, carving a massive crater into the ground. Rocks and dust shot outward, swept up by a powerful shockwave. Even the leftover force was enough to kill an ordinary ninja.
As the dust settled, Obito appeared in the crater, standing there without a scratch. He looked coldly at Sasuke.
His Mangekyou slowly spun in his eye before changing back to the Three-Tomoe form. "Even Shinra Tensei couldn't block that..."
Sasuke sensed something was off and frowned. "Why is your eye power so weak?"
"No... wait!" Sasuke's eyes widened. "That's not your eye!"
"So you noticed?" Obito covered his Three-Tomoe Sharingan. "Didn't think I'd have to use the Transcription Seal this soon..."
He had sealed the eye technique into a Three-Tomoe Sharingan ahead of time using a Transcription Seal. That way, even without his Mangekyou, he could still use Kamui. But even so, this kind of seal had limits—it couldn't last long. Obito wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer.
But that wasn't the real issue. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, his voice going cold. "Where's your real eye?"
"Take a guess." Obito gave a crooked smile, but then continued on his own, "Not that it matters if you figure it out. Even if you do, it's already too late. Orochimaru's probably caught the One-Tail by now."
Sasuke clenched his fist. "You bastard. Without Kamui, how long can you last? Or are you just ready to die?"
Without Obito, the Ten-Tails still couldn't be revived.
"I don't care," Obito said flatly. "Living was never my goal."
"Then go die full of regrets!" Sasuke raised his right hand, chakra gathering fast. "Heavenly Void Wave: Purple Light Dragon · Dragon Palace!"
Two huge purple chakra dragons took shape and roared as they charged toward Obito.
Sasuke was right. Without Kamui and space-time jutsu, Obito would be lucky to survive even one hit. There was no way he could escape such a full-power strike—unless he suddenly became a Sage of Six Paths on the spot, which was impossible.
As the two chakra dragons rushed toward him, Obito's expression strangely turned calm. "The truth is, from the start, you all misunderstood my goal."
"You thought I sent the nine Jinchuriki to attack the Land of Iron just to keep Naruto and the Nine-Tails busy. You thought I'd try the same move on Konoha to rescue Uchiha Madara. You thought... I lost."
"But you all forgot one thing." Facing the dragons now just seconds away, Obito opened his arms and said calmly, "My goal was never the tailed beasts. It was to create a world where Rin could exist."
"And I don't care who creates that world."
BOOM—
The two chakra dragons slammed into Obito's location. The blast was so powerful, even faraway Konoha shook a little.
Sasuke watched as the dragons tore Obito apart. Blood and flesh scattered to the ground. He was beyond dead.
But... was it really that easy?
Sasuke hesitated, and even the massive Susano'o stopped moving for a moment—right then, Hidan stabbed him head-on. Of course, Hidan couldn't pierce Susano'o with just one strike.
While Sasuke was thinking about it, he suddenly saw the blood on the ground vanish—as if someone had erased it with a rubber. Before he could react, Obito's figure appeared in the distance, still holding a hand seal.
In that moment, Sasuke understood. "Izanagi!"
Sure enough, the Sharingan in Obito's eye had turned completely gray, losing all color.
But Obito didn't seem to care. He said calmly, "With someone like you, using jutsu in front of you is pointless. With your space-time jutsu, the moment I made a hand sign, you'd attack me instantly. That's why—I activated Izanagi before I even got here."
Obito wasn't like Danzo. Danzo used Sharingan forced into his body with Hashirama cells, so he couldn't control Izanagi at all. And each Sharingan could only last for one minute.
But Obito was different.
He was a member of the Uchiha clan, and with Hashirama's cells in his body, he could keep the jutsu going for ten full minutes!
As he spoke, Obito quickly put his hands together and began forming hand signs at a speed almost too fast for the eye to follow.
"You really think you can cast a jutsu in front of me after saying all that?" The moment Sasuke spoke, he was already standing in front of Obito. His Tomoe Rinnegan and blue Rinnegan glowed faintly, and the white bony horns on his head gave off a cold, sharp aura.
He swung his sword, and in a flash, the blade cut off Obito's head. Blood sprayed wildly as his body and head were split apart.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. Sasuke had already killed Obito again. In the distance, the Susano'o faded away slowly without its user, while Hidan below waved his weapon angrily.
But… Sasuke didn't look happy at all.
A flicker of chakra passed, and the body in front of him turned white. Even the severed head became that of White Zetsu, who looked at Sasuke mockingly.
"My sensing ability might not be as good as Naruto's," Sasuke said coldly, turning his head to the right, "but Obito, do you really think I can't find you?"
Over there, something nearly invisible was shifting and squirming in the air.
As soon as Sasuke finished talking, the light began to distort. A huge creature, looking like a chameleon, opened its mouth wide — and inside stood Nagato and Obito.
Obito had already finished the hand signs. "I know. And I also know that at close range, your sensing is even more accurate than Naruto's. But just now, you panicked."
"You tricked me with words, made me attack you, then used Izanagi to come back to life. Right after reviving, you used a summoning jutsu to bring Nagato over, and he summoned that chameleon to hide you both." In fact, Sasuke had already realized the one he struck was a fake.
By then, he had already found Obito's real position — he just couldn't see him. And if he couldn't see him, even Amenotejikara couldn't swap with him. "You knew how sharp my sensing was, so you created a smokescreen."
"To distract me, you had White Zetsu take your form and draw my attention. Then you had him cast a jutsu to fully pull my focus away. Before I could think it through, your plan was already set…"
"Obito, after all that, what are you really trying to do?"
"What am I trying to do?" Obito raised his hands, still forming the jutsu. "You have the Rinnegan too, so you should know what technique I'm using, right?"
