Chapter 376 - Chapter 376: Hidan — So Why Did You Even Call Me Out Here?

"The Six Paths Rebirth…" Sasuke clenched his fists.

When he got the Rinnegan, this jutsu had instantly appeared in his mind. He was shocked by how powerful it was — and by the terrible cost of using it. Still, he never imagined Obito would choose to use it now.

The hand signs were complete. The jutsu had already begun. It was too late to stop it.

Sasuke took a deep breath. "Once you use this, you'll definitely die. And even if you bring Madara back to life, he'll lose the Rinnegan. When that happens, you still won't win."

"I don't have to win," Obito said softly, his voice gentle. "I just need to make sure I don't lose."

Rin… As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

I may not be able to destroy this hellish world. But I will make sure that beautiful world becomes real. I'll make sure you live happily — forever.

Sasuke understood what Obito meant. His voice dropped without meaning to. "I know this might sound rude, but… is it really worth it?"

Obito closed his eyes. A soft blue glow began to shine from his body. The gentle, life-filled energy gathered and flew off like rays of light into the distance.

He didn't answer Sasuke. There was no need to.

"…Fine." Sasuke shook his head. "Even dying, you just had to cause one last mess for us."

Obito didn't react. As soon as the jutsu was complete, he fell forward. Sasuke didn't try to catch him. There was no point. He just looked at Nagato, who stood silently beside Obito.

As the user of the jutsu died, the markings connected to him disappeared. Nagato's dull eyes flickered slightly, a faint light returning to them.

"You are…" Nagato frowned without thinking. He didn't remember being controlled by Obito — the last thing he recalled was his own death.

"I'm Uchiha Sasuke. You're already dead," Sasuke replied.

Nagato paused, then gave a small nod. "I know. I still remember what it felt like when I died. But why…"

Before Nagato could finish, a bright light surrounded him. Bits of paper floated around as a beam of light came down from the sky, wrapping him up completely.

Nagato stared at his hands in surprise. As the paper faded away, his soul rose from the temporary body and began drifting upward into the sky.

"…I don't really know what happened… but do you know Naruto?" Nagato's soul floated upward. Under the light, he didn't seem as dark and gloomy anymore.

"Naruto?" Sasuke was caught off guard. "Yeah, I know him. He's my friend. Why?"

"It's nothing," Nagato said with a small laugh. "I was just… wondering what kind of future Jiraiya-sensei believed in. Too bad I won't get to see it this time either."

As he finished speaking, the light slowly faded, and his soul scattered along with it.

In Sasuke's quiet gaze, Nagato showed a gentle smile, just like before. He lifted his head, wanting to take one last look at the world, but suddenly froze.

At the edge of the light, a familiar figure stood there, smiling at him.

Souls probably don't cry, right?

Nagato wasn't sure, but he could feel his eyes growing wet.

In the distance, Yahiko stretched and looked around at the ruined land. Then he looked at Nagato, smiled, and gave him a thumbs-up from far away.

Maybe it wasn't approval. Maybe it was just to comfort him. But still…

Nagato smiled, really smiled.

Only problem was Hidan wouldn't stop talking and was seriously annoying to look at.

Anyway, what was Obito thinking summoning that guy? He chased Susano'o around like a fool the whole time and couldn't even land a scratch. Might as well have been swatting air.

As the light fully disappeared, Sasuke looked down at Obito, lying on the ground. He was still breathing, but probably wouldn't last long.

Sasuke relaxed a bit and turned off his Karma mode. The blue glow of his Mangekyou faded quickly, leaving only the Rinnegan with tomoe reflecting Obito's image.

Standing over Obito, Sasuke nudged him over with his foot so he was facing the sky.

"It probably doesn't matter anymore, but I still want to ask. I get that the Uchiha massacre could've been your way of taking revenge on the clan… but why did you kill Uncle Minato and Aunt Kushina?"

"And don't give me that 'for Kurama' excuse. Even if you had captured Kurama, it would've been useless. The tailed beasts had to be sealed in order from One to Nine. So you had no reason to attack Konoha back then."

"Or… was it just because you were angry?" Sasuke stared coldly at him. "Because you thought that girl Rin died…

because Uncle Minato didn't make it in time. So you blamed him—and maybe you hated Aunt Kushina too?"

Obito stared blankly at the sky. "Does talking about it now even matter?"

His voice was faint, like someone who already had one foot in the grave.

"I'm just curious," Sasuke said.

Obito suddenly chuckled, a quiet laugh. "The answer's actually simple… Madara saw you both a long time ago—more than ten years ago. He told me to stop your birth, or kill you both before you could grow strong."

"He knew exactly how powerful you two would become, and he knew that in the future, even he wouldn't be able to beat you."

Obito turned his head with effort and looked at Sasuke. "The Uchiha massacre… the Nine-Tails attack on Konoha… none of it was about revenge. It was all just to wipe out you and Uzumaki Naruto."

He gave a cold grin and said, "Too bad… even if your whole clan is dead, you still…"

"Bang!" Sasuke landed a punch next to Obito, smashing the ground and sending Obito flying.

With a cold look in his eyes, Sasuke walked over, filled with killing intent. "If I hadn't promised Kakashi to leave you to him, I'd kill you right now."

"That's… torture, huh," Obito coughed up blood, but his tone stayed flat.

"Hmph." Sasuke let out a cold snort, reached out, and placed his hand on Obito's face. "I'm taking the Rinnegan."

Without hesitation, Sasuke pulled the Rinnegan right out of Obito's eye socket. He didn't care about the blood. He examined the eye for a moment, then silently put it into his ninja tools pouch.

Obito didn't even scream from the pain. In a way, that was impressive.

But it didn't matter.

Without the Sharingan and now missing the Rinnegan, Obito was basically blind. Plus, after using the Rinne Rebirth, he was as good as dead—nothing he could do anymore.

Thinking that, Sasuke didn't even bother to check if Obito was still breathing. He just turned around and walked off.

Obito's last words had completely crushed any sympathy Sasuke had left.

Now, he had to face one of the legends of the ninja world.

The fully revived Uchiha Madara.

…Well, a Madara without the Rinnegan.

Sasuke smiled confidently.
