Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: War

Waiting for Souei's return from his spying mission I've got one last thing I want to do. I stand in front of a large group of Hobgoblins ready to announce something. I say, "So, is everyone here?"

They all nod. "Great. So, I've got an announcement. I'm recruiting people for a new project I'm working on. What I need are guards to protect a new building I'm working on. It's very important and anyone who accepts and passes the qualifications will become my direct subordinate. Is anyone up to the task?"

After hearing the words "direct subordinate" all the Hobgoblins immediately raise their hand. I smile, crossing my arms, "Now it's time for the real test. You all know the sword Kijin Hakurou, right?" I point at him as he's standing in the background with his hand on the hilt of his sword, "He'll be the one training you."

Instantly they all begin to look apprehensive. Hakurou has already been tasked with training the Goblin Riders so most of these Hobgoblins have already heard Gobta's screams of terror. This weeds out most of them when I say they by no means have to accept. By the end I am left with 12 Hobgoblins total.

"Congratulations. From today onwards you will be the Goblin Guard. My direct subordinates. To start off, introductions, what are your names?" They introduce themselves as; Gobzi, Goblo, Gobte, Goblon, Gobsaz, Goblik, Gobti, Gobju, Gobde, Gobhi, Gobnik, and Kevin.

I look at their current condition. Most of them look pretty weak except for Gobzi. For some reason he's a half foot taller than the rest of the Hobgoblins. I have no idea what he's been doing to get that big.

Gesturing them to follow me, I introduce them to Hakurou. He already knows what he's supposed to do and already has a menacing aura as he prepares to train them. I go up to his ear and whisper, "Don't go easy on them."

Mortified, the Hobgoblins all yell, "What!?"

"It's vital they become as strong as possible. My lab is very important and must remain as well protected as possible."

Hakurou bows saying, "Understood, Lord Migeru." He immediately pulls out his sword to get ready for the training session to begin.

On my way out I say, "Don't worry. It'll all be…" I hear a loud grinding sound. Turning around I see Hakurou sharpening his already razor sharp sword. "Hopefully." Speeding off from the training ground I took them to, I hear desperate screaming in the background. "That was fast."

Gobta passes by with the rest of the Goblin Riders. He arrogantly says, "Looks like the newbies aren't gonna have a good time."

Hakurou senses him and calls him to get on with his training as well. This causes him to jump a little. "Don't act like you aren't terrified of him either."

Finally leaving the training ground I run into Rimuru. He asks, "You think they'll survive."

I jokingly say, "If Gobta survived, so can they." Rimuru laughs after hearing that. "So now what?" I ask.

Confused, he responds, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, we can't really do much until Souei returns with the answer to the message we sent the Lizardmen."

"I don't know either, I guess we can only wait."

"I guess so." Knowing that he could arrive any hour, I just hang out in the village for a while.

Eventually, a Hobgoblin arrives to notify me of Souei's return. He notifies us about the results of the proposal telling us that in a few days we will go and meet up with the Lizardmen.

Knowing how this will go I take the next few days to prepare for the fight and build a container for the Magisteel and Heat Rock to make the bomb's explosion easier to time and control. It's pretty basic, it is just a box with two different sections separated by a Magicule barrier but it works. After the few days are over we get ready for the journey and head out. Rimuru and I get on Ranryo and Ranga and start traveling to the Lizardman territory.

On our way there we run into Gabiru's sister unconscious on the floor surrounded by Orcs. Souei quickly dispatches them and checks her for wounds. She seems fine but is pretty banged up. Splashing a Full Potion on her makes her immediately wake up. Looking up at us and seeing Souei, she immediately looks up at Rimuru and I. We are the two riding on the biggest Star Wolves, being Ranryo and Ranga so she immediately puts two and two together.

Slightly panicking, she asks, "Are you two Lord Migeru and Rimuru!?"

Rimuru responds, "Yes."

Immediately bowing before us she asks, "Then in the absence of the Lizardman Chief I would likely beg for forgiveness. My brother has taken my father hostage and is engaging the Orc Army. I know we betrayed your trust but please help us."

I say, "Nah, don't worry about it. We'll help. So where's the chief right now?"

"He has been taken hostage by my brother."

Pretending to think for a bit I eventually respond saying, "Then in that case we should help him. Souei, I would like you to go help them out."

"Understood, Lord Migeru."

Turning back to her I ask, "So where is your brother?" She points in his direction. Looking back to everyone else I say, "Okay, so we are heading there now. If they are fighting on their own they don't stand a chance. We need to hurry." Turning around to Souei, "After you help the Lizardman Chief I need you to stay there. His safety is a priority, got it?"

He silently nods and gestures to the Lizardman soon to be named Souka and leaves. As he leaves I use [Hive Mind] to strengthen him without him realizing. Better safe than sorry. Moving on we continue heading off in the direction of the fight.

Currently we have the Kijin, the Goblin Riders, a few Tempest Wolves, Ranryo, Ranga, Rimuru, and I. That should be more than enough for this.

Arriving at the scene looking down from the top of a cliff we arrive just in time to watch a Lizardman get brutally ripped apart and eaten alive by a few Orcs. Gabiru is engaged in a fight to the death with an Orc General and is actually holding his own. Not bad, he's actually pretty skilled, if only he wasn't so annoying.

I prepare the Magicule Bomb.

Benimaru finally asks, "What is that thing you've been carrying around?"

"You'll see. It's the signal to begin fighting. You'll know when you see it."

Confused but trusting me he only watches as I order the Star Wolves and Goblin Riders to go and grab the Lizardmen for me. If I'm going to use the bomb then the last thing I want is to accidentally wipe out allied forces. When they arrive I sprout Phoenix Wings out of my back which I got from the Wandering Phoenix from before and get ready to drop the bomb.

[Great Sage] where is the Orc Lord Geld and his son, uh, future Geld?

{Scanning…

Location found.}

Giving me a basic idea of where they are I locate them. They are in the back of the army right now not doing much besides walking in the direction of the Lizardman tribe.

Alright, cool. Now, give me the optimal place to drop the bomb that will kill as few Orcs as possible and spare the two Gelds while only covering areas where Orcs are located to avoid it looking suspicious.

{Scanning…

Location found.}

Flying over to the area where [Great Sage] marked, I start supercharging the Heat Rock in my hand causing my hand to sizzle a bit. I have Heat Resistance so it doesn't hurt but causing my hand to sizzle is really impressive. I open a hatch on the metal box I'm using to hold the supercharged Magisteel surrounded by a Magicule Barrier and throw the Heat Rock inside. I close the hatch, drop the box, and start flying away as fast as I can.

As the Orcs watch the box land on the floor one of them looks down and pokes the metal box. Right as he does that I drop the Magicule Barrier making the two materials touch starting the reaction. As soon as that happens it explodes. As I escape the resulting explosion it spreads at an exponential rate ripping any Orc unfortunate enough to be standing in its area of effect apart.

Landing back where the rest of my allies are located they stand there looking at the spectacle. Wondering what they are so mesmerized by, I turn around and see an explosion that more closely resembles a fireworks show than a bomb.

As the Magicules swirl around inside the bomb causing swirls of multicolored light to appear small miniature fake thunderstorm clouds appear inside as well. That is likely due to my divine protection, the Storm Crest affecting my Magicules a bit. This looks awesome I gotta admit. Maybe I could use this to make fireworks in the future.

While looking at the bomb I suddenly get a notification from [Great Sage].

{Notice- Analysis of the Magicule Bomb is complete.}

Wait what?

{Notice- Acquiring Unique Skill [Detonation].

Unique Skill [Detonation] has been obtained.}

A got a skill from that!? And a Unique Skill at that meaning Rimuru can't get it from me through [Sage's Link]. I guess this might make up for my lack of [Degenerate] a bit. It sounds dangerous though. I'll test it out later.

As the bomb finally dissipates leaving a relatively small crater on the ground considering the size of the explosion leaving no trace of the Orcs that were once standing there behind everything goes dead quiet. The Orcs, the Kijin, even Rimuru is shocked at the raw power of this bomb.

I wonder what Laplace will think. He is no doubt spying on us right now through Gelmud. I'll think about that later. Turning to the fighting forces I yell, "What are you waiting for, let's go!" As they run into the fight Gabiru is still on the floor absolutely flabbergasted at what he just saw, "You gonna help or not?"

Pretending to not be fazed he quickly gets back up and says, "Of course, I am the future chief after all."

"Okay then, let's get moving." Jumping off the cliff and flying to Rimuru's location above the fight we watch as the fight goes on. From above I use [Hive Mind] on the Kijin, Wolves, and Goblin Riders down below to strengthen them for the fight.

As Orcs are mercilessly wiped out by Benimaru's [Black Flame], Shion's berserker fighting style as she swings around her massive blade and Hakurou's precise cuts to vital areas the already one-sided massacre gets interrupted by a massive magical thunderstorm generated by Ranryo, Ranga and the Star Wolves they brought for help. As massive whirlwinds rampage throughout the area wiping out hundreds of Orcs made no better by the periodic bubbles of [Black Flame] appearing throughout the battlefield massive numbers of Orcs are wiped out fast. Not even the Orc Generals stand a chance, I think as I watch as Hakurou effortlessly cut one of their heads off.

Watching from above I see Rimuru look for the Orc Lord. I'm not planning on eating him to get [Gluttony]. There are several reasons for this.

One, thanks to [Sage's Link] I could always get it after Rimuru evolves it into [Beelzebuth] while if I get it Rimuru loses the chance altogether due to him not having a similar skill.

Two, part of my plan to exploit my Demon Lord transformation as much as possible and gaining as much power as possible becomes easier if Rimuru has [Gluttony] so in the long run this helps a lot.

And three, I want to see the Orc Lord fight first hand. I may be a really powerful monster but I am still someone who enjoyed this story so watching it first hand is really cool.

I feel bad not helping in this fight at all so I send down a few missile [Black Flames] from above to help clear them out a bit more. I don't want to kill too many of the Orcs so I am pretty conservative but at least it looks like I'm helping. At the same time Rimuru finally locates the Orc Lord.

At the same time so do the Kijin as they attack him with all their might. Hakurou cuts off his head to which he simply picks it back up and reattaches it. Shion attempts to cut him apart to no avail. Benimaru, this time without Souei's help attempts to burn him alive leaving no damage on him.

Rimuru descends to the ground and tells them to stand back while he fights the Orc Lord. I also descend to watch from ground level. Landing on the ground I fold my wings but don't get rid of them in case I need a quick escape and watch the ensuing fight.

Rimuru pulls out his katana and rushes at the Orc Lord dealing small bits of rapidly healing damage. His magical attacks however do seem to disturb the Orc Lord as he yells out slashing the air with a huge meat cleaver. Did he have that in the original? I don't remember.

He jumps around weaving around the Orc Lords slower but more powerful attacks slowly whittling him down. After a while they both disengage. During that stagnant moment Gelmud finally appears, furious at what is going on looking slightly injured. So Treyni actually did show up, huh.

He yells at Geld the first, calling him a useless stupid pig to which he doesn't really respond. When Geld stares at him blankly he continues berating him, yelling at him to attack. Everyone just looks at him. Right as Rimuru gets ready to attack, Geld begins to move.

Gelmud yells, "Yes, yes! Kill them! Kill them Geld, I mean son!"

He doesn't even have time to react before he's quickly killed by one quick slice to the neck by Geld's meat cleaver. His head rolls over to a disgusted looking Rimuru. Geld leans down and eats Gelmud in two quick bites. As the sound of bones shattering in his mouth finally ends he begins to get surrounded in a dense Magicule aura as he evolves.

He gets bigger, his ribs become more defined, he gains spikes on his head and back and he develops armorlike biological plates on his body. He yells, "I am the Demon Lord Geld, the Orc Disaster!"

Upon hearing that Rimuru prepares to fight again as he rushes at the Orc Disaster Geld. This time his attacks don't deal much meaningful damage as he runs around. Geld sprouts large snakelike tentacles made of Magicules which chase Rimuru at the same time using [Death March Dance], an attack Gelmud didn't get to use in this timeline due to dying too quickly to make dodging that much harder. Halfway through I watch as Rimuru's eyes turn red with robotic patterns on them as he lets [Great Sage] take control. Watching his fighting style change I see that it very closely resembles me when [Genius] is active. I guess it makes sense, they both make you fight completely optimally.

The skirmish ends though as Geld somehow manages to catch Rimuru saying, "It's over."

Rimuru smiles, responding, "Not yet, as you can see I'm a Slime." He melts back into his Slime form as he begins to wrap around Rimuru, "I can eat things too."

Geld struggles as the growing mass of blue slime wraps around his body as he tries to destroy it with his decaying ability. It's too slow to keep up with Rimuru though as he slowly envelops Geld in slime.

Too bad I won't be there to see the last moments of Geld though. All I see is Geld's struggling body eventually giving in and getting absorbed by Rimuru. Not as emotional being a bystander in all this is it. As Geld is reduced in size he eventually gets reduced to nothing leaving only Rimuru in his Slime form behind. The fight is over.

{Notice- Unique Skill [Sage's Link] has been activated.

Extra Skills [Self Regeneration] and [Death March Dance] have been obtained.

Notice- Unique Skill [Ravenous] is unable to be obtained as subject Rimuru Tempest has already obtained it. Would you like to store the data to obtain Unique Skill [Ravenous] at a later date? Yes/No?}

"Yes."

{Confirmed- Data for Unique Skill [Ravenous] has been stored.}

We've won. So, [Great Sage], how many Orcs died?

{58.7% of the Orcs have been confirmed dead.}

That should be enough. That's still a lot of Orcs to help with construction.

"Now it's time to deal with the cleanup," I say looking around at the Orcs who now look terrified knowing there is no way they can get off scot-free after what they've done.. It's finally time for the formation of the Jura Tempest Federation.
