Ficool

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Love and Kebab

As they strolled further from the venue, still caught up in conversation, they caught sight of a neat row of food stands lining the pavement ahead.

With the rich aroma of delicious food from the different stalls filling the air.

That was when Felix realized he hadn't eaten all afternoon. Looking at her, he guessed she hadn't either.

"Would you care for something to eat?" he asked.

"Nah, I'm good," she replied, offering a polite smile. She didn't want to impose.

But seconds later, her stomach betrayed her with a loud grumble.

They both froze. Locking eyes, they burst into giggles.

"I guess your stomach disagrees," Felix teased.

"There's a restaurant just up ahead. Would you like to go there, or...?"

"Mm, whatever that is smells yummy. Let's go over there!"

Before he could answer, she caught his sleeve, eagerly pulling him toward one of the stalls.

"Good evening, sir," she said brightly to the vendor behind the counter.

"Could we get two of those, please?"

"Grenwill, the kebab seller, wiped his hands on his apron and beamed. "Coming right up, young lady!"

As he flipped the skewers onto the grill, Grenwill looked at both of them, his eyes lingering on Felix.

"Is that your husband, young lady? You two look really good together."

The sudden mention of husband caught her off guard. A blush creeping up her neck, but she quickly tried to brush it off with a nervous laugh.

"Urh, we actually just met."

"Oops, my bad!" Grenwill chuckled, placing the freshly grilled kebabs onto a tray. "You both just reminded me of my wife and me when we were younger." He smiled.

She smiled back, charmed by the old man's warmth.

"Okay!" Grenwill exhaled happily, handing over the food. "Here is your order."

"Thanks!" She eagerly took the tray and headed straight for a bench right next to the stand.

Felix followed close by, sitting right next to her. She handed him a skewer and immediately took a huge bite, filling her mouth with food.

"Wow, this is so good!" she mumbled around her food, flashing a enthusiastic thumbs-up to Grenwill. The vendor returned it with a soft, proud smile.

Felix didn't eat right away. He was too caught up staring at her, captivated by how adorable she looked.

Feeling his intense gaze, she suddenly froze. She quickly covered her mouth with one hand, chewing quickly so she could speak.

She nudged his arm with her elbow. "Hey! Eat! I know I'm pretty, but you shouldn't stare so much."

She tried to play it off as a joke, but the faint pink glow on her cheeks gave her away.

Felix looked at her shy, flushed face and let out a soft laugh.

"Fine, I'll eat." He took a bite of his kebab, his eyes still on her. "But you can't really blame me for looking when you're being this cute, can you?"

"Ugh, you're so cheesy." She rolled her eyes, but a smile still crept up on her face.

Seeing her reaction, Felix simply smirked and continued eating.

Once they finished the meal, they paid Grenwill and went on to explore some other stalls.
