Chapter 53 - A close battle

Vergil observed the condition of his body.He had gained some minor bruises when the tiger made of molten gold had hit him. That wasn't the issue however.

The small amounts of molten gold that had become stuck to his body were burning his skin. What was worse was that the gold was slowly spreading over his skin. There was still a small amount of gold but it was still increasing and spreading like some sort of affliction.

Vergil realised he was likely on a timer now so he took out a grenade. He pulled the clip and threw it in the direction of the molten gold monstrosity.

Vincent noticed his action as he was manipulating his construct of gold to attack the peasant. The molten golds form changed form from a tiger the size of a semi truck to a snake that was 90 metres long and 4 meters thick in most areas. The head was the size of a car

The gold giant snake appeared to be a mix of species as it had a hood with dental work that was unusual in most snake species. It maneuvered around the trajectory of the grenade before wrapping its fangs around Vergils position.

Vergil for his part dodged backward before the jaws of the giant snake closed around him and launched a new weapon towards Vincent. This was the ornamental whip that Kalmon dropped!!!.

At the same time the dalmatian which Vergil had lost track of during the struggle moved with incredible speed and leapt at Vincent.Vincent only had time to bring up his right arm.Vincent felt pain for the first time in the battle when the dalmatian's jaws closed around his right wrist.

The power behind the snarling dalmatian's jaws shocked Vincent as the bones in his wrist immediately gave out and around the same time he felt a force coil around his scepter.

Vincent looked to his left and saw that Vergil was using a fancy looking whip to wrap around Vincent's prized scepter. This was an insult that irked Vincent.First the peasant had caused Vincent pain by letting that filthy mutt loose but now he was trying to steal Vincent's prized scepter along with all his gold and wealth. This would not stand. He was now having trouble controlling his construct. It pained Vincent but perhaps he had to part with a miniscule fraction of his wealth.

Vincent sacrificed a tiny bit of gold to create some crimson gemstones. Then launched them towards Vergil where they proceeded to explode and embed his body with small fragments.Vergil felt his stamina and life slowly being drained by the blood red gemstone fragments in his body. However the pain though great for a non augmented human wasn't worthy of note in Vergils eyes and he refused to let go of the whip.

Vincent was surprised by the tenacity and willpower in Vergils eyes. The peasants he had faced when he and his family's forces appeared in that town during the dungeon break were easily defeated by pain and suffering. The difference was like night and day.

Vincent's right wrist was immediately mauled and bit off as the dalmatian thrashed about. He kicked the dog back by tens of metres and turned his full attention back to Vergil whose entire side was starting to become covered in molten gold and had dozens of crimson gemstone fragments embedded in his body.

They were currently fighting for possession of the scepter and Vincent was losing the tug of war despite Vergil being constantly weakened by the crimson gemstone fragments

Vincent proceeded to aim his scepter towards Vergil with great struggle.A small red beam blasted towards Vergil and penetrator through his shoulder.A small golf ball sized hole gaped within Vergils left shoulder.

Vergil pulled the scepter with renewed strengh and resolve. This time he managed to yank the scepter out of Vincent's grasp. As soon as this happened the golden snake construct began to disappear as though every molecule was slowly being teleported away to some unknown location.

This was the same for the gold that was beginning to cover Vergils body. The gemstone fragments remained however. The aching pain their presence had was a constant reminder in Vergils mind.

Vergil was hyper focused due to adrenaline so when he got the scepter he immediately stomped down on it.This shattered the scepter into two pieces. The crimson glow of the blood red mineral at the end of the scepter dulled abruptly.

The dalmatian got back at this point and closed its jaws around Vincent's throat and ripped a chunk out of it.Inbred royal blood splattered onto the ground as Vincent looked at Vergil with a surprised look and grinned as though it knew some unknown truth.
