Chapter 20 - The bullies

A group of students laughed at another who was on the ground, but refusing to lose, he tried to fight back. That's when the leader of the bully group pushed him back down. His green school uniform was ruined with dirt, but he didn't care because he led the least prestigious academy in the nation, and the school was filled with delinquents. The gang leader didn't care about his authority as he kept raining down blows. Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and another student came forward. He told the leader that his father had just died to the police. A surprised look crossed his face, and then he stood up. He pushes the student out of the way and barges out of the room and speeds down the hall. Many teachers back away from him. He was clearly dangerous, and no one wanted to be involved. The other gang members exited the room to take a peek, and when they noticed the coast was clear, they ran.

"Where are you going?" they called out. The leader looked back to respond. "Mind your own business." Another member who decided it would be pointless to talk things through pushed the leader. "You!" The gang members start fighting each other. The more they fought, the more tired they got. Eventually, they all drop to the floor, wheezing. Suddenly, one of them took a piece of paper from their pocket and revealed it to the others. It showed someone posing, ready to fight. [My profile picture]. "Oh. It's a tournament. Are you thinking about competing?" Some speak up about how awesome that would be, but the leader crumbles the paper and throws it away. "We are gang members, bullies. We fight to live, not to compete in some silly tournament." "But I heard some of the DEATHKNIGHTS will show up to fight!" "What?" the gang leader played those words again in his mind. "The DEATHKNIGHTS will show up?" This could be his perfect opportunity to kill them. "Are there rules to the tournament?" he asked. The others shook their heads. "Not that we are aware of." How many and who will show? I can't risk us losing at this tournament. This is our only opportunity to show the DEATHKNIGHTS we mean business. "It's only Cyrus and a few of his companions." That was good enough. Based on the list of who would compete, there were going to be a few DEATHKNIGHTS, a man with a halberd, a dual wielder, and a few ninjas. There was no one they couldn't beat. Each gang member signed a small slip to compete in this tournament. Their goal was to win plain and simple, and they were willing to use anything to do it. The gang members waited for the day of the tournament to come at last. It was only a week, but it felt like waiting for the world to end.

Finally, the fateful day arrived. The gang members jumped from their cars and made it to the front room. They sign in and read the list of rules before heading to the main stage. From afar, they could already see Cyrus fighting in the first round. His opponent was a dual wielder by the name of Mehatto. He kept spinning his blades, but Cyrus kept deflecting his attacks, a new move he had learned at that time. When Mehatto noticed that Cyrus's defense was unbreakable, he changed his tactics and then went with full-motion attacks, spinning not only his weapons, but his whole body. His attacks were stronger, and Cyrus started to back away to avoid any attack getting close to him. Cyrus increased his green aura, and the gang leader cursed under his breath. The color green did not fit him. It was the color of the gang member's uniform. He would show them. He would show them all. Meanwhile, Mehatto had shown his own color, a violent purple. It was clear they had their own abilities, but they were so evenly matched that eventually each clash became dangerous for the crowd. Cyrus deflects one of Mehattos' weapons, and it ends up flying away. Luckily, it did not strike anyone. The match came down to whether or not Mehatto could keep up his attacks against Cyrus's lowered set of cards. Cyrus could only deflect so many attacks, and once he ran out of cards, he wouldn't stand a chance against Mehatto.
