Chapter 27 - Affinity extraction

The Realization

Five hours later, as the grueling training session wore on, I was feeling a bit unsettled.

Ever since I first began practicing my magic, my LitRPG system had always sent me a blue notification whenever I developed a new combat skill. Yet today, something highly unusual had occurred. As I executed my Air-based attack, successfully adapting my Fire Pierce technique to use wind instead of fire, I received absolutely no such notification.

I stared at my calloused hands, confusion heavily knitting my brow.

Why didn't I get a notification this time? I wondered. My thoughts churned as I considered the deep possibilities of the system mechanics. Could it be that I can manually create different types of skills with various affinities without the system registering them as 'new'? What if...

A sudden, massive realization struck me. My eyes widened with sheer excitement as the brilliant idea took shape in my mind.

What if I could actively use the foundational skills given to me by the system with entirely different magic affinities? Could I possibly use 'Fire Spirit Flare' with Air instead of Fire?! What about with Earth or Darkness?!

The thought filled me with a sudden surge of wild enthusiasm. The idea of manually combining my system-granted skills with different magic affinities opened up an entire world of devastating combat possibilities I hadn't even considered before. The notion of adapting and blending these skills in ways I had never imagined completely invigorated me.

My mind raced with excitement as I imagined the absolute potential of such combinations. My heart pounded with the thrill of this discovery, incredibly eager to explore these new, uncharted possibilities.

After two more hours of highly intense elemental training, the morning session finally concluded. The five of us were instructed to return to our respective dorms in the Scholar's Wing to rest and prepare for the upcoming dinner. As we left the training grounds, the courtyard once again fell into a peaceful silence, the evening air cool and the atmosphere perfectly mesmerizing.

Still buzzing from my new realization, I walked back to my dorm room with a massive spring in my step. The exciting prospect of exploring my newfound ideas was completely exhilarating, and I couldn't wait to test my dangerous theories in the coming days.

I took a quick glance at my right hand as I lay back on my bed.

"Maybe I'll call this new technique Affinity Extraction," I whispered to the empty room.

I smiled slightly, closed my eyes, and prepared to sleep and rest my tired muscles.
