Chapter 31 - Krisha's Feelings

As dawn broke over the sprawling campus of Zirabia Magic Heights Academy, the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the soft rustle of leaves in the gentle morning breeze. The academy, once a battleground of chaos, was slowly regaining its former splendor. The towering buildings, which had been marred by the recent battles, were gradually being restored, and the grounds, once littered with burning debris, were now beginning to flourish with life once more.

I walked alongside Krisha, the two of us moving at a leisurely pace, our footsteps echoing faintly on the cobblestone path. The first light of the day bathed the academy in a warm, golden hue, casting long shadows that danced playfully across the ground. My heart felt lighter than it had in days, and I couldn't help but let a smile creep onto my face as I took in the sight of the academy coming back to life.

"It's good to see everything getting back to normal," I remarked, my voice breaking the comfortable silence between us. I turned to Krisha, my eyes bright with relief. "The academy is starting to look like it used to. It's like everything's finally going to be okay."

Krisha glanced at me, her expression softening as she saw the happiness in my eyes. "Yes," she agreed, her voice filled with a quiet determination. "Everything will be alright, Kazu. It might take some time, but we'll get there."

For a moment, we walked in silence, the heavy weight of the recent events still lingering in the air. The academy had been through so much, and so had we. But in that moment, as the morning sun warmed our faces, it felt like there was true hope on the horizon.

I hesitated, a dark thought nagging at the back of my mind. I turned my gaze to Krisha, my tone more serious as I asked, "Oh, by the way, about Soradia... You mentioned that your family lives there, right?"

Krisha's steps faltered slightly, the mere mention of her homeland bringing a shadow to her face. "Yes," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of profound sadness. "That's where I'm from. It's where my family's estate is."

I bit my lip, unsure of how to broach the subject delicately. "Mizawa... she said she destroyed the entire capital of Soradia..." My words hung in the air, heavy with the terrifying implication of what that could mean.

Krisha's face grew entirely pale, her expression tightening as she processed my words. "We don't live in the central part of Soradia," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper. "So I'm hoping... I'm praying that my family wasn't caught in the destruction Mizawa caused."

I could hear the deep fear in her voice, the uncertainty that gripped her heart. I wanted to say something, anything, to ease her worries, but I knew there were no guarantees in this world. Instead, I simply whispered, "I hope so too, Krisha. I really do."

We continued walking, the silence between us now filled with unspoken fears and the crushing weight of the unknown. Tears welled up in Krisha's silver eyes, her noble composure slowly crumbling under the strain. "I still haven't received any messages or letters from my family," she admitted, her voice trembling. "I'm so scared, Kazu... I don't know what's happened to them..."

My heart ached as I watched Krisha struggle with her emotions. Seeing her in pain was almost unbearable. I reached out, gently placing a hand on her shoulder, trying to offer some physical comfort. "But... you don't live in the central part of Soradia, right?" I said, my voice filled with a quiet reassurance. "It's unlikely that your family was affected by what Mizawa did. We just have to stay positive, okay? Let's hope for the best."

Krisha looked up at me, her tears glistening in the soft morning light. Despite her fear, she managed a small, incredibly grateful smile. "Thank you, Kazu... I don't know what I'd do without you."

I returned her smile, feeling a warm sense of pride bloom in my chest. "It's nothing," I said, trying to downplay my own emotions. I lifted my gaze to the sky, the endless blue stretching out above us. "Look at the sky, Krisha. It's so beautiful today. And the flowers... they're starting to bloom again. It's like the academy is coming back to life."

Krisha followed my gaze, her eyes softening as she took in the sight. "You're right," she murmured. "The sky is beautiful... and the flowers too."

I nodded, my voice taking on a thoughtful tone. "We should always try to find moments like this, you know? Moments that remind us that life can be beautiful, even when things are tough. We only get to live once, so we should always choose to be happy. No matter what."

Krisha's heart swelled with gratitude. "Thank you, Kazu. You always know exactly how to lift my spirits... You make everything seem like it's going to be okay."

I chuckled softly, feeling a bit bashful at her praise. "I just want us all to be happy, Krisha. We've been through so much, but there's still so much to look forward to."

As we walked, I suddenly had an idea. "How about we head to the library for a while?" I suggested, my tone brightening. "We could read up on some Affinity books. It might be a nice distraction."

Krisha smiled, shaking her head slightly. "I'm not really into reading," she admitted, "but I'll go with you if you want."

I grinned, highly pleased with her response. "That's fine," I said. "Just come with me to borrow a book, and then we can head back to our dorms. You can take care of whatever you need to do, and I'll do some reading."

Krisha nodded, agreeing easily. "Sure, Kazu. That sounds like a plan... Ah, Kazu..."

I glanced at her, curious about the sudden, hesitant change in her tone. "Yeah? What is it?"

Krisha paused, her pale cheeks flushing a deep pink as she struggled to find the right words. "I... I like you, Kazu," she finally blurted out, her voice trembling with intense nervousness.

I froze, my eyes widening in sheer surprise. My heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, I was completely at a loss for words. "You... like me?" I repeated, my mind racing. "Like... in what way?"

Krisha's face turned even redder, but she stood her ground, her voice growing firmer. "I like you, Kazu," she said, louder this time, her emotions laid bare. "I've liked you for a while now."

I stared at her, my own cheeks now matching her blush. I scratched the back of my head awkwardly, trying desperately to process what she had just said. "Ahh... but, we're still really young, aren't we?" I finally managed to say, my voice wavering slightly. "I mean, I like you too, Krisha, but... we're just kids, right? There's so much we don't know yet..."

Krisha's determination didn't waver, her silver gaze steady as she looked directly into my eyes. "It's okay," she said softly. "I'll wait for you, Kazu... no matter how long it takes."

I felt my heart swell with emotion, a complex mix of happiness and confusion swirling within me. I smiled, a tender expression that spoke of my own true feelings. "I will too, Krisha... I'll wait for you too."

The Library

As Krisha and I continued our conversation, we reached the imposing entrance of the Zirabia Magic Heights Academy library. The building was a true marvel of architecture, with its high, arched ceilings and grand marble columns. As we pushed open the heavy wooden doors, a cool draft met us, carrying the unmistakable, comforting scent of aged paper and leather bindings.

My eyes widened in absolute amazement as I took in the sight before me. The library's vast expanse was filled with towering oak bookshelves that seemed to stretch endlessly toward the vaulted ceiling. "This library is incredible," I said, my voice filled with awe. "Look at how high the shelves go."

Krisha, equally impressed, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, they say the Zirabia library is one of the most extensive in the entire realm. It's said to have every kind of book you could ever need."

My excitement was palpable. "That's exactly why I'm here. I'm eager to find books on the six affinity elements. I want to learn as much as I can about them."

Krisha scanned the massive room, her gaze settling on a figure behind a large wooden desk. "Let's ask Hera for help. She's the head librarian here, and I'm sure she knows exactly where to find the books you need."

I followed Krisha's gaze. "Who is she?"

Krisha pointed to the librarian with a smile. "That's Hera. She's responsible for managing this entire library. If anyone knows where to find specific magical texts, it's her."

I nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's go ask her."

Krisha approached Hera, who was busy organizing a tall stack of books on her desk. The librarian looked up, her eyes incredibly warm and welcoming. "Hera," Krisha began politely, "Kazu is looking for books on the six affinity elements. Could you point us in the right direction? This library is so enormous, it's hard to know where to start."

Hera looked over at me with a knowing, gentle smile. "Ah, you're looking for the foundational affinity books. They're indeed special, and they're stored separately in a secure section. But first, let me show you something."

My attention was suddenly drawn to a glowing book resting on a nearby display shelf. "Hmm, a book on teleportation magic circles?" I murmured as I picked up the heavy tome. The cover was adorned with highly intricate designs and glowing silver runes.

Hera's eyes twinkled as she noticed my intense interest. "Ah, I see you've found something highly intriguing. But let's not get sidetracked just yet. Follow me, and I'll take you to the Affinity section. The books on the six affinity elements are each kept separately—one comprehensive volume for each element."

Krisha turned to me with a raised eyebrow. "So, we'll need to find six different books, one for each affinity element. By the way, what's the deal with the teleportation book?"

I shrugged slightly, still holding the magical tome. "I just thought it might be highly useful to learn more about teleportation. You know how much I enjoy reading and expanding my knowledge of skills."

Krisha smiled, shaking her head affectionately. "You really do have a passion for learning. I remember you talking about wanting to write your own book about magic someday."

As we followed Hera through the endless maze of bookshelves, Hera continued to speak over her shoulder. "You can borrow and take these books back to your dorm, but there's one strict condition."

Krisha's curiosity was piqued. "What's the condition?"

I looked at Hera, my interest clearly piqued as well. "Really? What do we need to do?"

Hera's eyes sparkled with deep recognition. "I understand you were directly involved in the recent battle against Mizawa, the right hand of the Demon Lord, am I right?"

I nodded slowly. "Yes, that's correct."

Hera's smile widened. "That's all you need. Just inform your professors that you've been involved in significant combat events, and they'll authorize your request for these restricted books."

My eyes widened slightly with surprise. "Is it really that simple?"

Hera nodded reassuringly. "Yes, it is that simple for a hero. And here we are—the Affinity section. These are the rare books you were looking for."

With a graceful, fluid wave of her hand, Hera used her Telekinesis power to lift the six heavy books directly from the high shelves. They floated effortlessly through the air before gently landing in my arms. I watched in absolute amazement as the books moved with such perfect ease.

"Wow," I said in a hushed voice. "You can use Telekinesis?"

Hera smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "Yes, it's an advanced application of the Light magic affinity. I learned it from one of the very Light affinity books you are currently holding."

My excitement grew even more. "That's incredible. I'd love to learn more about that someday."

Hera nodded. "Perhaps you will, Kazu. For now, focus on the books you have. They will provide highly valuable insights into the six affinity elements."

With the six heavy affinity books securely in my arms, Krisha and I made our way back through the vast library. The afternoon sunlight streaming through the large stained-glass windows bathed the library in a warm, golden glow. The perfectly serene atmosphere of the library made the journey back to the entrance feel almost magical.

As we finally reached the grand front doors of the library, I turned to Krisha with a highly satisfied smile. "Thanks for coming with me today. I'm really excited to dive into these books."

Krisha returned my smile, a faint blush still lingering on her cheeks. "Anytime. I'm sure you'll learn a lot from them. See you around, Kazu."

"See you," I replied, waving as I headed towards my dorm. The books in my arms felt like an absolute treasure trove of knowledge, and I couldn't wait to start exploring their contents.

Once inside my quiet room, I carefully placed the books on my desk, the evening light casting a warm glow over the embossed titles. I sat down in my wooden chair, ready to immerse myself in the immense wealth of information that lay before me, incredibly eager to learn and grow from the knowledge contained within each volume.
