Chapter 24 - 24 | she was crazy

By the time the three finally left Eternal Night Pavilion, the sky had already started turning dark. Shen Yelan checked the time on her phone and frowned slightly.

Even though Shen Chengwei had agreed to let her out to buy school supplies, he would definitely question her if she went back too late.

Should I create another distraction for him?

She was just thinking this when Huo Ziyan spoke.

"I'll take you home."

Shen Yelan shook her head.

"No need. I have already booked a taxi."

Sure enough, when they reached the parking lot, the same taxi from earlier was already waiting nearby.

"What a surprise. It's you again." Shen Yelan mused.

Li Yifan stiffened in alarm when he met Shen Ylan's smiling eyes. Then he quickly smiled.

"It's just a coincidence. Our company is still new, so there aren't many drivers yet. It's normal to get the same driver twice."

Huo Ziyan narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at him. Something didn't feel right here. But before he could think deeper, Shen Yelan had already turned toward him

"Alright. This is where we part ways. Thank you for keeping me company today."

Huo Ziyan nodded.

"Be careful on the way back."

"Mm."

Shen Yelan responded as she got into the taxi.

Huo Ziyan stood there watching until the red taillights disappeared into the snowy night. The previous warmth in his gaze disappeared and was replaced by the usual cold indifference that made everyone tremble in fear.

Mo Shiyu sighed in relief.

The devil was finally back to normal.

Huo Ziyan slightly raised one hand and a man appeared by his side.

The man had a youthful baby face, but the long scar running down one side of his face made him look intimidating instead.

"Fourth Young Master," Luo San lowered his head respectfully.

Huo Ziyan kept staring in the direction the taxi had disappeared.

"Have someone follow the taxi. Make sure she reaches home safely."

"Yes," Luo San bowed his head and left as quietly as he'd appeared.

Although his face remained expressionless, his heart was in complete chaos. He had followed Huo Ziyan throughout the entire Ghost Market today. Naturally, he had witnessed everything, including how his boss personally pushed a girl's wheelchair around for hours.

He honestly felt like his worldview had shattered.

Did this mean they were finally getting a future mistress?

.

.

Inside the taxi, Shen Yelan leaned lazily against the seat and looked out the window. Snowflakes drifted past under the streetlights.

The heater inside the car was on, but the atmosphere was strangely cold.

From the rearview mirror, Li Yifan could see the black car following behind them at a safe distance. He had noticed it the moment they left the parking lot.

A bead of cold sweat made its way down the side of his face.

"You've gotten bold." Shen Yelan suddenly spoke. Her voice was soft, almost lazy, but Li Yifan's hands instantly tightened around the steering wheel.

To outsiders, she looked delicate and harmless, like a sickly little who would get blown away by the wind. Most people who saw her would subconsciously want to protect her.

But the people around her knew better.

This girl was crazy.

"I was wrong, Boss." He apologized instantly.

"Oh? Then tell me what you did wrong."

Li Yifan almost cried.

"I…I just thought it would be safer if I personally drove you around. I didn't expect him to notice something."

Shen Yelan gave him a side glance. Her gray eyes were calm, cold, and completely different from the innocent girl from earlier.

"You didn't expect?"

Li Yifan wanted to defend himself, but after thinking about it... he realized he really had done something stupid.

Most people wouldn't think much after seeing the same taxi twice in one day. But Huo Ziyan was not "most people."

The Huo family's Fourth Young Master had always been mysterious. Very little was known about him and most of that information was what Huo Ziyan had allowed people to know. Yet that small amount of information was enough for the world to fear him.

Meeting him today had been unexpected. They still didn't know why someone like him would willingly push around the wheelchair of a girl he'd never met before. That alone should have made them more cautious.

Yet instead, Li Yifan had made a stupid, obvious mistake.

He lowered his head. "I was careless."

Shen Yelan stared at him for a few seconds before looking away again like the conversation had already lost her interest. She rested her chin lazily against her hand and continued watching the snow outside.

After a while, she finally spoke again.

"Go back to the training camp after you're done tonight."

Li Yifan closed his eyes in despair. The last time he went there, he could not even feel his body for a whole week.

Still, he didn't argue.

"Yes, boss."
