Chapter 297 The Beastkin's Whereabouts
Brian sighed, showing his chagrin as he joined the line. Cecelia moved ever closer, watching both the food and the delighted reactions of the children with each bite they took. She worked her way through the line until she finally received her plate of meat. Liam was at the end of the line with Brian, minding his business and content to let others fill their plates before him.
Cecelia immediately started digging in, savoring each bite and letting out squeals of happiness as she enjoyed the food. When Kelly and Stella got their plates, they joined Cecelia, and they began discussing the meal between mouthfuls. Most of the conversation came from Kelly and Cecelia, who shared their thoughts on the flavors, while Stella was more focused on the overall food experience.
The rest of the group received their plates and enjoyed their meal in the bubbly atmosphere. Once they had finished eating, they began discussing the job they still needed to complete. "So, Liam, what have you discovered about the beastkin's whereabouts?" Brian asked.
"With the lingering smells in the places I track my targets, I can get a rough idea of where someone frequently goes," Liam explained, introducing his ability. "However, my ability first needs to lock onto the target before it can work; otherwise, I'm just relying on my naturally enhanced senses." He continued, "With that explained, let's move on to their whereabouts. They venture into the forest, presumably hunting for food to sustain themselves and possibly others, as they spend long periods away from the city walls."
They also visit the Adventurer's Guild, likely engaging in similar activities to what we've been doing, earning money and collecting resources. After each visit to the guild, they return to their shelter, where I believe they stash some of their earnings before heading to the city market. Interestingly, instead of using the main street, they opt to enter through the alleyways before reaching the market. Along the way, they stop at shops that sell blacksmithing supplies, pelts, food, and medicinal herbs," Liam concluded, based on his observations.
Brian began to reflect on the information he had received, contemplating the daily life of the beastkin. He thanked Liam and said, "Based on what Liam has told us, the beastkin appears to be acting for its group, likely because they have cubs to care for. While they are surviving like us, it seems they may have mistaken the noble's cat for one of their own and taken it into their custody. Unfortunately, we will need to manage the situation, but I do not want to cause unnecessary harm. My goal is to bring them to our side without much trouble, if possible."
The party listened to Brian's summation and agreed. Afterward, they shared their own thoughts on the situation.
