Chapter 238 - Sol Affinity

Chapter 238 Sol Affinity

"Is that so?" Linda said with delight. "You're lucky to have someone like Daniel to guide you. Should I explain how the guild works, or would you prefer that he does?" She turned the conversation over to Daniel.

Daniel immediately turned it back over, saying, "I think it would be best if you explained it, Linda, since you work here and are always so well-informed."

Linda puffed out her cheeks but eventually relented, saying with a giggle, "You don't have to compliment me like that." She continued, "Alright, the first thing I'll need is to know your elemental affinity and sol affinity."

Aleshia tilted her head, visibly confused, but information began trickling into her mind. After receiving the information, she replied, "I can use water and fire, but I'm not sure how well I can manipulate sol energy."

Hearing her response, Linda explained, "That's understandable. Magic is easier to see, while manipulating sols is a bit more vague. Let's say sol is similar to the mana in the air, but is a separate energy that is more powerful depending on the environment and the age of the person."

Aleshia nodded along to her explanation and reluctantly said, "That's an interesting concept, but I don't think I have any sol power."

Linda looked surprised but then reasoned, "Maybe you haven't felt the power of sol flow through you, or perhaps you haven't experienced a melee fighter in combat or wielded an ancient staff yet."

"Those are some interesting points you're making, but I'm not following," she replied.

"Very well, there's nothing else about it. I would also like to add that the more ancient you or your equipment are, the better your proficiency with the power. Just a little tidbit. Anyway, I'll explain the guild to you now." Now that she had finished her preamble, she began explaining the guild's rules. "There aren't many rules, just some basic common-sense guidelines. For example, do not reveal your weapon inside the city without proper justification, and do not kill other humans or allied races. Additionally, ensure that you do not bring in any monsters that you or your party did not defeat. Specifically, this means you should not purchase monsters for the sole purpose of ranking up within the guild or claim them as your own catch."

After giving those warnings, she began explaining the ranks. "There are six main ranks in this guild, along with upper and lower ranks, making a total of twelve. The ranks are listed as follows: Copper, Bronze, Iron, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. That's the gist of the ranking system. Daniel here is an upper Iron rank, and he is close to ranking up to lower Silver."

After her explanation, Linda bent down to retrieve a few papers and placed them on the desk in front of Aleshia. "Here, you can fill these out. If you have trouble reading or writing, I know Daniel can assist you with it."
