Chapter 237 Receptionist
Aleshia was distracted and stopped in the middle of the road when a horse nearly ran her over. Lucia noticed this and began moving Aleshia's body to safety. However, Daniel arrived and took action just before she did, grabbing Aleshia's arm and pulling her closer to him, away from the horse.
When Aleshia realized what had happened, she decided to give the man riding the horse the benefit of the doubt, believing the rider hadn't realized what was happening. But it soon became clear that he had great disdain for them and acted intentionally. In frustration, he hurled a wad of something at the two of them.
Lucia may have missed her chance earlier, but she was appalled by the disgusting behavior she witnessed. In response, she created a wind barrier that redirected the spitwad back at the horse rider. Lucia couldn't help but snicker when it hit him. Afterward, she quickly escorted Aleshia into the Adventurers Guild.
As Aleshia entered the Guild, the first thing she noticed was a corner of the room filled with benches and tables occupied by typical muscular adventurers, along with a few robed figures with wands at their sides. Then, the ringing of the bell above the door drew the attention of everyone at the tables. On the opposite side, several receptionists appeared behind their booths, and two lines of adventurers crowded in front of them.
Their party of three walked to the second line, which had fewer people. The receptionist glanced in their direction and momentarily lost her receptionist facade, quickly regaining it. Judging by her reaction, it seemed that Daniel had a special connection with this particular receptionist. When it was finally their turn, the receptionist began, "I see you've brought some of your kiddies this time. How adorable!" she squealed. "You've got little Em over today, and who's this little witch girl?" she pondered aloud.
"Yes, I've brought Em, and this is Aleshia. She's joined our camp and has been a great help. I believe you'll get along well," Daniel explained.
"Oh, that's quite impressive considering how many kids he has! Anyway, my name is Linda, and I'll be your receptionist, Aleshia. How can I assist you?" Linda introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, Linda. I'm Aleshia, as Daniel just mentioned, and my hat..." Aleshia began to offer her customary greeting, but then hesitated, leaving an awkward pause.
"What about your hat?" Linda tilted her head.
"Oh, never mind. Anyway, Daniel mentioned I could get an adventurer's license or guild card here if I apply for it," Aleshia asserted, trying to change the subject.
