Chapter 236 Provisional Party
Before Aleshia left the room, Daniel asked her to return. "Wait, Aleshia, could you gather all of this and put it in your bag? It would be quite a hassle to leave it lying around like this. These materials will likely rot or decay if they're left here. I also have paperwork to do, and it would be troublesome to find a place to store these."
"Alright, I understand," Aleshia responded, returning to the desk to collect the items. After stuffing her bag, she left the room and followed the group. Sam had already left, but it seemed Em and Ren had waited for her.
As the time approached, everyone gathered together at the door except for Sam. Rebel also didn't appear with Daniel, but Aleshia recalled his earlier comment about how Rebel could barely manage to walk around the area. She also recalled the considerable amount of paperwork that needed attention on the desk.
"Alright, everyone. Are you two going to come with me, or will it just be Aleshia who joins me?" Daniel asked.
After thinking about his question, Em decided to go, but Ren said she needed to head somewhere else. However, she mentioned that she would follow them partway before departing. With that decided, they formed a provisional party of four, led by Daniel.
Aleshia had never traveled these streets before, and it appeared they were moving away from the more undesirable areas of town towards more favorable ones. Daniel was leading the group toward a gate guarded by local knights. He needed to verify his identity and that of the others before they could enter the other side. Aleshia didn't remember passing through this place to the slums. Though she assumed Ren must have brought her to the slums through a different entrance.
"Alright, everyone, we're here," Daniel announced.
From Aleshia's mental image of the path they took, she surmised they were in the relative center of the city. Lucia was twisting and turning, discreetly gazing at all the passersby and street vendors. Ren had departed a while after being accepted into the gate with them. As they casually moved toward the guild, the doors opened, and a large man walked out. Coincidentally, Aleshia recognized him as the traveling adventurer who had shown a peculiar fondness for his horse. He was the first human they had encountered. Aleshia watched him as he walked away into the crowd. Lucia noticed him too and followed Aleshia's gaze further down the street than Aleshia could see.
