Chapter 2 - "Look at Me."

Aaron Steel continued his inspection without another word.

Doctors, nurses, and department heads followed nervously behind him.

Every few seconds, someone received a warning.

"This hallway is untidy."

"The patient files are poorly organized."

"The waiting time is unacceptable."

His sharp observations left everyone speechless.

Meanwhile...

Celina was on her knees cleaning a small coffee stain near the VIP elevator.

She wanted the floor to shine before lunchtime.

Just as she finished...

The elevator doors opened.

Aaron and his entourage stepped out.

Without looking up, Celina pushed her cleaning bucket aside.

Unfortunately...

One of the bucket's wheels caught on the edge of the carpet.

The heavy bucket tipped over.

Splash!

A stream of soapy water rushed across the polished floor.

Everyone gasped.

One of Aaron's expensive leather shoes was splashed.

Silence.

Complete silence.

The hospital director nearly fainted.

"Oh my goodness..."

"What have you done?" one supervisor whispered.

Several employees looked at Celina with pity.

Everyone knew Aaron Steel had zero tolerance for mistakes.

Certain she was about to lose her job, Celina quickly grabbed a clean towel.

"I'm so sorry, sir. It was an accident."

She knelt and reached toward his shoe.

Before she could touch it...

Aaron stepped back.

"Don't."

His icy voice echoed through the hallway.

Celina slowly stood.

She lowered her head.

"I'm truly sorry."

Aaron stared at her for several seconds.

His expression was unreadable.

Then he asked one question.

"What's your name?"

"Celina... Celina Baker."

The director quickly interrupted.

"Mr. Steel, she's only a cleaner. We'll dismiss her immediately."

Celina's heart sank.

This job paid for her rent.

It helped her support her sick grandmother.

She couldn't afford to lose it.

She clenched her trembling hands but refused to beg.

Aaron noticed.

Interesting.

Most people cried or pleaded.

She simply stood there, waiting to accept whatever happened.

After a long silence, he spoke.

"Keep your job."

Everyone looked at him in disbelief.

"But..."

Aaron's cold eyes shifted to the supervisor.

"If you spent as much time maintaining your staff as you do blaming them, perhaps this hospital would perform better."

No one dared answer.

He turned and walked away without another glance.

Celina released the breath she'd been holding.

She had survived.

But she couldn't understand one thing.

Why had the most feared man in the country shown her mercy?

Behind him...

Aaron's assistant quietly asked,

"Sir... should I arrange another pair of shoes?"

Aaron didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked once toward the young cleaner still standing in the hallway.

"Find out everything about Celina Baker."

The assistant blinked.

This was the first time in years...

Aaron Steel had ever asked for information about a woman.
