Chapter 4 - A Dream Written in Ink

Monday Morning...

The hospital buzzed with its usual rhythm.

Stretchers rolled through the emergency entrance.

Doctors hurried from one ward to another.

Patients filled the waiting area.

And, as always...

Celina Bakers arrived thirty minutes early.

She preferred the quiet before the hospital came alive.

After changing into her uniform, she slipped into the small employee lounge.

From her bag, she carefully took out a worn brown notebook.

Her most treasured possession.

Every page carried a recipe.

Every recipe carried a memory.

Some came from her late mother.

Others were creations she dreamed of serving one day in her own restaurant.

She smiled as she wrote at the top of a blank page.

"Grandma Mary's Chicken Pot Pie."

"Talking to your notebook again?"

Celina looked up and laughed.

It was Emily Carter, the cheerful receptionist.

"It's not just a notebook."

Emily sat beside her.

"Then what is it?"

"My future."

Emily raised an eyebrow.

"Your future?"

Celina nodded.

"One day, I'll open a restaurant."

Emily smiled.

"You always say that."

"And one day, you'll eat there for free."

Emily laughed.

"I'll remind you of that when you become famous."

The two friends laughed together before heading to work.

Across town...

Steel Global Holdings.

The sixty-story headquarters overlooked the entire city.

Aaron stepped out of the elevator.

Every employee greeted him respectfully.

"Good morning, Mr. Steel."

He simply nodded.

Inside the boardroom, directors were already waiting.

The meeting began.

Quarterly profits.

New investments.

Hospital expansion.

Nothing unusual.

Until...

One director suggested cutting funds for the hospital's charity treatment program.

"It isn't profitable."

Aaron slowly closed the report.

"Who said it was supposed to be?"

The room fell silent.

"Our hospital exists to save lives."

"But, sir—"

"If helping people becomes optional..."

His voice became ice-cold.

"...then you no longer belong in this company."

No one spoke again.

The proposal disappeared immediately.

Later that afternoon...

Celina was assigned to clean one of the hospital's private gardens.

It was her favorite place.

Flowers bloomed beside a small fountain.

Birds perched in the trees.

For a few peaceful minutes...

The world felt gentle.

She sat on a bench during her lunch break and opened her notebook again.

This time, she wasn't writing recipes.

She wrote something else.

Dream Restaurant Checklist

✔ Learn more recipes.

✔ Save enough money.

✔ Never give up.

She stared at the last line.

Never give up.

A soft breeze turned the page.

Before she could catch it...

The notebook slipped from her lap.

It landed near someone's polished black shoes.

Celina quickly stood.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!"

She reached down to pick it up.

At the exact same moment...

Another hand reached for it.

Their fingers brushed.

For the first time...

Aaron Steel and Celina Bakers looked directly into each other's eyes.

Neither of them spoke.

The world around them seemed to disappear.

Aaron glanced at the notebook.

Then at the words written across the page.

Never give up.

Without a word...

He handed it back.

"Thank you," Celina said softly.

Aaron gave a slight nod and continued walking.

He didn't ask her name.

He didn't smile.

But for reasons he couldn't explain...

Those three handwritten words stayed in his mind long after he left the garden.

Never give up.
