"Mom, this is my boyfriend Hu Yiting." Shen Mu introduced Hu Yiting to her parents.
"You...You are that doctor that treated me when I hurt my leg isn't it?" Shen Mu's mother asked when she recognized him.
Shen Mu's mother was not expecting that her matchmaking would work out in the end. None of the guys that she tried to match with Shen Mu ever worked, Shen Mu would always come home complaining about how terrible, so she stopped but this was her last tempt.
Luckily it worked, now Shen Mu was finally going to get married and give her a lot of grandchildren. She was envies how most of her friends had their own grandchildren, and when she called them up to meet, they would say that they are looking after their grandkids. Sometimes they would bring them increasing the jealousy in her.
"Oh, I remember you. You treated my wife back then?" Shen Mu's father spoke.
"Yes, sir." Hu Yiting replied with a nod.
"Oh, there is no need to be so formal since you are going to be my son in law." Mr. Shen said.
"You are going to be my son in law aren't?" Mr. Shen asked.
"I am sir." Hu Yiting replied.
"Now let's get back to business, just because I want you as my son in law doesn't mean that I approve." Mr. Shen said, the smile that was there before had been replaced with something else.
"Dad!" Shen Mu whined, and her father sent her a glare, and she knew not to interfere.
One thing was always clear in the house, her father could be fun to be with, jokes he will make, but when he got serious, he would give you a look and you would know that the jokes are finished.
"What made you fall in love with my daughter?" He asked.
"I fell in love with everything about her, I love how passionate she is towards her work, I love how she is loyal to her friends no matter the situation..." He went on and continued listing all the things that made him fall in love with her.
Shen Mu looked at him with her mouth hung open, she didn't think that he even knew her habits. They had not been together for so long, but he already knew so much about her. If she was hesitant on marrying him before, this reassured her, she smiled as he talked. Now she was more than ready to marry him even if he were to say they should get married in the morning, she had no reason to hesitate anymore.
"Okay...Okay, I think that is enough." Mr. Shen said raising his hand when he felt that Hu Yiting was going to keep on going.
