"End it? No," William shook his head as he watched through his smart glasses. The silver werewolf had begun trembling and transforming. Explaining to Selene and Nissa, he said, "Among the Corvinus family, there are individuals who, if bitten by both a werewolf and a vampire, can inherit the strengths of both races. They become immune to sunlight and silver while gaining superior speed, strength, and regenerative abilities."
As William explained, Selene and Nissa looked uneasily at the silver werewolf, who was now undergoing an even more radical transformation, and Marcus, who had suddenly bitten into the werewolf's arm.
"Should we just use heavy firepower to bury both brothers in the tunnel?" Selene suggested, her voice filled with worry.
"No. I want to see them die with my own eyes. Otherwise, I won't feel at ease," William replied, shaking his head before offering some reassurance. "Relax. Things haven't gone completely out of control yet. I'm still just toying with them."
Moments later, the two women felt a bit more at ease as twenty combat robots equipped with Gatling guns and carrying massive ammo boxes emerged from the portal.
With twenty Gatling guns, each armed with 3,000 rounds of ammunition, the idea of any creature surviving a storm of 60,000 bullets seemed laughable.
Watching the other robots make way for the Gatling-equipped reinforcements, William considered recalling twenty of the previous units to equip them with heavy sniper rifles. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time. The ironclad rule of "the poor rely on mutation" was once again proven true at that very moment.
A deep, chilling howl echoed from the tunnel, carrying such oppressive power that even William felt it.
"Howl…"
Sunday, who had been monitoring the entire situation, immediately reported, "Sir, based on the physical transformations of the Corvinus brothers, the probability of sustaining over 50% robot casualties to eliminate them has risen to 80%."
Through his smart glasses, William observed Marcus and the silver werewolf as their bodies grew larger and larger. Considering the three-meter-high tunnel ceiling, he realized the situation had changed. If Marcus's speed increased further and the werewolf regained enough strength to stop holding him back, there was indeed a high chance they could break through the formation by charging along the ceiling.
Once the formation was disrupted, the werewolf's role would become significantly more impactful.
Moreover, the cost of each robot exceeded a million dollars. As someone who followed the principle of never wasting money, William grimaced. "Alright, enough playing around."
William charged into the tunnel, stepping on the heads of his robots to position himself at the front of the formation.
Waving his hands, he drew a glowing orange-red circle, within which appeared a six-pointed star. He then pushed his hands forward, conjuring a shimmering, translucent mirror-like space a few meters ahead in the tunnel.
Not long after this was completed, the silver werewolf emerged from the corner. Now three meters tall, its silver fur had turned black and glowed faintly. The enormous beast roared furiously as it approached.
But upon seeing William, the werewolf didn't charge forward recklessly as it had before. Instead, its cold, hate-filled eyes glimmered with cunning. Dropping to all fours, it retreated behind the corner, waiting in silence.
It got smarter?
William blinked in surprise, staring at the werewolf, whose enlarged head and sharp, intelligent eyes hinted at a newfound cunning.
Regaining his composure, William smirked and beckoned with his fingers, trying to provoke the creature. But the werewolf merely bared its teeth in a mocking grin, staying hidden and waiting for Marcus.
A dozen seconds later, Marcus, now fully transformed, appeared behind the werewolf. His bat wings, now larger and more imposing, flapped powerfully as he joined his brother.
The werewolf bared its fangs and sprinted out of the corner, rushing straight toward William, clearly intending to tear him apart. Marcus, following close behind, flapped his wings furiously, flying along the tunnel ceiling toward William with a mixture of confusion and excitement etched on his face.
As the black werewolf reached the shimmering surface of the mirrored space, it plunged headfirst into it without hesitation and disappeared.
"No!"
Hovering mid-air, Marcus froze in shock at the sight of his brother vanishing into thin air. Panicking, he tried to halt his advance, flapping his wings frantically.
But before he could escape, Marcus caught sight of William smirking. With hands glowing orange-red, William clasped his palms together and then pulled them apart, conjuring a fiery, glowing magical rope.
Sensing the imminent danger, Marcus turned to flee. But William wasn't about to let such an opportunity slip away.
With a flick of his wrist, the magical rope shot out and wrapped around Marcus, who was mid-air and had no leverage to resist. A massive pulling force yanked Marcus straight into the mirrored space.
With his task complete, William turned to the shocked Selene, whose mouth hung open, and the visibly alarmed Nissa.
"Want to come in and take a look?" he asked casually.
"No way, darling. I'm not going in there," Nissa replied hastily before Selene could answer. Having previously experienced an unpleasant encounter in a mirrored space, she shook her head vigorously.
Turning to the puzzled Selene, Nissa added, "Trust me, stepping into that space is never a good idea."
Selene hesitated for a moment before asking, "Is it dangerous?"
"Dangerous?" Nissa paused, looking uncertainly at William. "Probably not? That space is entirely under his control."
Suddenly, Nissa's expression brightened. "Wait, that's right! We're already his, so of course there's no danger."
Watching the robots begin to march neatly into the mirrored space, Nissa grabbed Selene's hand and led her quickly to William's side. Hugging his arm excitedly, she said, "Hurry! I've got plenty of ideas for how to deal with the Corvinus brothers."
Grinning, William took Nissa's hand in one of his and Selene's in the other, leading them into the mirrored space.
Inside, the three of them saw the Corvinus brothers running frantically through a tunnel that appeared identical to the one outside. However, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get any closer to the robots that had already entered.
"What the hell is this place?"
Seeing William and the others enter, Marcus spread his bat wings and tried to fly toward them. But the harder he pushed, the faster the space around him seemed to pull away, leaving him in futile frustration.
"Ahh! What kind of hell is this?"
Annoyed by Marcus's snarling face, Nissa frowned and clung to William's arm. "Darling, can you add some blades behind them? If they slow down, they'll get impaled."
"Great idea," William replied, planting a kiss on her lips.
With a wave of his hand, two faintly shimmering blades appeared behind the Corvinus brothers.
William didn't bother lowering his voice as he discussed the plan, and Marcus, overhearing, glanced back. His heart sank as he saw a crystal-like blade following directly behind him.
Attempting to dodge, he changed direction, but the blade moved in perfect sync with him.
After several failed attempts to shake it off, Marcus had no choice but to run at a steady pace to conserve his strength.
After a minute of this, William grew impatient and snapped his fingers.
The tunnel began retreating faster.
"Damn it!" Marcus and the werewolf had no choice but to accelerate.
Marcus was faring slightly better, as the crystal blade was aimed at his back. But the werewolf, running on all fours, faced a far worse fate. If it slowed down even slightly, the blade might pierce somewhere truly unspeakable, leaving a psychological scar that would never heal.
