Seeing the werewolf's expression change drastically, Nissa only hesitated for a moment before bursting into laughter. She playfully patted William's chest, her cheeks slightly flushed as she teased, "You're so bad."
Ten minutes later, the heavy breathing of Marcus and the werewolf grew louder and more labored.
Even though the two brothers had become supernatural beings, movement still required energy, whether for biological or mechanical entities. Over these ten minutes, the speed of the retreating tunnel had steadily increased, forcing the brothers to push themselves to their absolute limits to keep up.
"Alright, enough playing around. Let's finish them off and go home," Selene said, shaking her head. "After all, Marcus and his brother are Alexander's descendants. Let's at least give them a dignified death."
Nissa, who had been watching the grotesque creatures sprinting for over ten minutes, found herself agreeing. Alexander had given her a significant gift, and she was beginning to feel bored. "Fine, these ugly things really aren't worth looking at anymore."
"Wait," William said, raising his hand just as he was about to attack.
Marcus, desperate, shouted, "We surrender!"
"Surrender?" William paused, raising an eyebrow in surprise as he looked at Marcus.
Seeing William hesitate, Marcus yelled, "We can swear a blood oath to you, just like them!" He gestured toward Selene and Nissa. "We'll serve you forever!"
This was an interesting proposition. The idea of gaining two half-werewolf, half-vampire subordinates did have its appeal.
Noticing William's hesitation, Nissa tightened her grip on his arm, feeling a pang of anxiety.
Though she felt a sense of crisis, the memory of how William had once "disciplined" her left her hesitant to speak out. Instead, she simply furrowed her brow and gave him a pitiful look.
"Relax," William said with a reassuring smile, turning to Nissa. "Just as you said, they're far too ugly and grotesque. If people found out they were working for me, imagine what the public would think."
He continued, "Besides, who knows if a blood oath can permanently control mutated creatures like them? And I certainly don't want to risk unleashing a plague of mutated werewolves if they go on a mission and decide to bite people indiscriminately."
"You're right," Nissa said, breathing a sigh of relief. Overjoyed, she hugged William and kissed him on the cheek. "When we get home, Selene and I will reward you with some of your favorite activities. How about that?"
"I like that idea," William said with a grin, glancing at Selene, who remained silent. Raising his hand, he ignored Marcus's panicked attempts to plead or negotiate further. With a snap of his fingers, flames erupted around the brothers.
"No! No!"
The two screamed in agony as the intense fire engulfed them. Their monstrous roars turned into desperate cries for mercy, but William was unmoved. He had no habit of sparing his enemies.
After a few minutes, when the flames had completely reduced the two to ash, William snapped his fingers again, extinguishing the fire.
He opened a portal to transport the combat robots back to the warehouse in Yellowstone National Park.
Walking two meters from the piles of ash, Selene sighed quietly as she watched William cast several detection spells on the remains to ensure there was no possibility of resurrection.
Once he was certain, William opened another portal, retrieved two metal containers, and used his mental power to collect the ashes into the boxes. He then transported the boxes to a mining site he used for disposing of waste, burying them deep underground.
Clapping his hands clean, he turned to Selene, who rolled her eyes, and Nissa, who now looked visibly relieved. With a mischievous grin, he said, "It's done. Now, we can go home for some... exercise."
By the time they returned to the vampire manor, the sky was already brightening with the first light of dawn.
Seeing that the windows of their room were open, Selene and Nissa instinctively darted into the shadows, loudly calling out to William, "Close the curtains! Hurry!"
"It's fine," William said with a chuckle. "Don't forget, you've both ingested Alexander Corvinus's blood. You don't need to fear the sun anymore."
"Are you sure?"
The two women froze for a moment. Seeing William's confident nod, they hesitantly approached the window. As the sunlight streamed in, Nissa extended a cautious finger into the light. When she felt no burning or pain, her disbelief turned to elation. Slowly, she stepped fully into the light and stared at the rising sun.
"By the Blood God, this is the first time in nearly 200 years that I've seen the sun," Nissa whispered, captivated by the sight. "It's so beautiful. Absolutely beautiful."
Selene nodded in agreement, gripping Nissa's hand tightly. "I saw the sun as a child before I became a vampire, but I've never found it as radiant and enchanting as it is today."
William walked up behind the two women, wrapping his arms around both of them. With a sly grin, he suggested, "Ladies, since you love the sun so much, why don't we head up to the rooftop terrace? We can bask in the sunlight and... enjoy some of our favorite activities. How does that sound?"
"Hehe, we're fine with that, but..." Nissa tilted her head and gave William a playful, seductive look. "Are you sure you can handle being naked in the freezing winds of January?"
"Let's find out," William replied with a smirk.
Time flew by, and over the next month, William stayed in London, diligently handling various affairs.
First, he selectively reported the details of the operation to King Philip and other influential figures. He attended several high-profile meetings and even presided over hearings about the mission.
At the same time, he worked on settling Alexander Corvinus's and Viktor's estates in England. Negotiations with Amelia regarding Viktor's assets across Europe also required constant attention.
During this period, the law firm William hired—Moonlight and Partners—experienced one of its busiest months in decades.
Most of the firm's senior partners stayed in London, while ten top lawyers and over two hundred staff members, including accountants and interns, flew across Europe to debate asset valuations with Amelia's team.
Fortunately, the heads of both sides had already agreed on the general terms of the deal. The specifics of the valuations, while time-consuming, were not particularly contentious.
As each batch of assets was evaluated—whether antiques, jewelry, or securities—they were airlifted to London. Once there, they were stored in the underground vault of the Bank of England, where Abigail led a team of twenty experts from the Priory of Sion to authenticate and appraise them.
High-value items were transported to the underground vault of the Devonshire estate after verification. These treasures, including ancient artifacts, were sealed in a fully secured chamber at William's Oxford Castle.
As for lower-value items, William planned to display them in a family museum he was preparing to build.
On one sunny afternoon, a rare clear day in London, William lay alone on the rooftop terrace of his manor, soaking in the sun. Hearing the sound of footsteps, he perked up and immediately recognized them as Abigail's.
Smiling, he watched as she approached with a cheerful expression, then sat on top of him with mock irritation.
"You're such a scoundrel," she teased. "You'd rather lie here sunbathing than help us with all the work."
