Chapter 639 - Chapter 638: The Power Over Life and Death

In the underground basement, William reclined on a bench, watching the interrogation videos of the captured werewolves as Sunday played them back.

The events surrounding the late Earl's estate had initially seemed normal. Two months ago, everything had been fine, and everyone there had been human. However, after the Earl's death and William's inheritance of the Duke title, everything began to change.

One night, two police officers drove into the estate under the pretense of conducting an investigation. But these weren't ordinary officers—they were werewolves. In a single night, they attacked and bit all thirteen staff members still living on the estate. A few days later, under the light of the full moon, all thirteen successfully transformed into werewolves.

Once transformed, the two original werewolves ordered the estate's butler to use his connection as the Earl's butler to approach William and secure a position in his castle.

The werewolves didn't target the people around William immediately. According to the butler's testimony, there were two reasons for this restraint.

First, they feared drawing too much attention. Second, they feared that angering a wealthy and powerful figure like William would result in a swift and brutal retaliation, potentially escalating into a full-scale war.

So, they set their sights on the Earl's butler. Their plan hinged on the assumption that since William didn't yet have his own butler, he would likely accept the Earl's butler into his castle. Once inside, they would wait for the perfect moment to bite William and turn him into one of them.

It was a cunning plan, but it fell apart due to one simple fact: William had absolutely no interest in entertaining them. He didn't even give them the chance to meet him.

To make matters worse for the werewolves, William had been constantly on the move for the past two months—one day in Brazil, another in Washington, then New York, Paris, and Monte Carlo. Tracking him was nearly impossible.

Frustrated, the werewolves decided to bide their time, confident that William would eventually return to the castle. After two long months, he finally did. But before they could even put their plan into action, William ruthlessly eradicated over a hundred werewolves using the Earl's estate as their den.

After watching the interrogation video, William clenched his fists, his face darkening. He brooded for a few minutes, then grabbed his phone, walked to the estate's garage, and drove off in an Aston Martin. The roar of the engine echoed as he sped directly to Buckingham Palace.

When he arrived, he shoved past the security guards attempting to check him and glared at the butler who came to greet him. "I need to see King Philip. Now. Immediately."

The butler studied William's agitated expression for a few moments. After weighing his options and feeling increasingly uneasy under William's intense gaze, he finally relented. "Very well. Please follow me, Your Grace."

The butler deliberately led William to a secluded reception room. After confirming through his earpiece that a dozen security personnel were stationed outside the room, he opened the door and invited William in.

William entered without a word, sat on the sofa, and leaned back with a stoic expression.

The butler's unease grew. After pouring William a cup of coffee, he quietly left the room to wait for King Philip's arrival.

A few minutes later, Philip arrived. The butler immediately whispered in his ear, "Your Majesty, Duke Devonshire seems agitated. I'm afraid his sudden visit at this hour doesn't bode well."

Philip nodded and stood outside the reception room, pondering for a moment. With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the nearby security detail before opening the door.

Inside, he saw William reclining on the sofa, his eyes closed, brows furrowed deeply.

Philip dismissed the butler and sat down on the opposite sofa. He waited silently for nearly ten minutes before finally speaking. "Alright, tell me—what's going on?"

Without opening his eyes, William reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He placed it on the armrest of the sofa and tapped it a few times. Sunday immediately began playing the interrogation video.

Philip's expression shifted as he watched the footage—first calm, then surprised, and finally furious. By the time the video ended, his face was ashen. "What do you plan to do about this?" he asked, his voice cold.

"What do I plan to do?" William's eyes snapped open as he sat upright. His tone was icy. "First, I'll purge every werewolf from London and Oxford. Then I'll clean out the rest of England. I want them to know that if they dare target me, I'll send every last one of them to Satan."

Philip shook his head, knowing that the young man before him was dead serious. "Do you have a plan? Surely you're not thinking of killing them one by one?"

Truthfully, Philip himself had been considering a purge after watching the video. If the werewolves dared to target a Duke, it wouldn't be long before they set their sights on a king.

William's lips curled into a sly smile. "Oh, I plan to kill them one by one—until I get to their leader, Lucian, and kill him too."

Philip abruptly stood, his face full of shock. "You know about Lucian?"

William's smile widened. Seeing Philip's reaction confirmed his suspicions. "Not only do I know that the werewolf leader's name is Lucian," he said, "but I also know the names of England's three vampire elders: Viktor, Amelia, and—"

William leaned forward, his eyes gleaming. "Marcus. The progenitor of England's vampires and the son of Alexander Corvinus. Am I correct?"

"Bloody hell," Philip muttered, his face dark with disbelief. "Where did you learn all of this?"

William tapped his fingers on the armrest and shrugged. "If I want to know something, I'll find out."

Standing abruptly, William straightened his clothes and said, "Pass a message to that old undead Alexander Corvinus. Tell him not to interfere. Otherwise, I'll make sure that when I kill his two sons, I'll take him out too."

"Wait," Philip said, stepping forward. His face was grave. "Are you serious about this?"

William nodded without hesitation. Philip stared at him for a long moment before speaking. "If you truly manage to kill Marcus, the progenitor of vampires, and William Corvinus, the progenitor of werewolves, I promise you that England's entire upper echelon will stand firmly behind you."

William chuckled. "That's easy to say. Just make sure that when I start, no one jumps in to sabotage me."

Philip's stern expression softened into a rare smile. "If they've already targeted you, then the moral high ground is ours. We have no reason to hold back. Very well, William. Let's see if you can accomplish what we never could."

After a moment of thought, Philip added, "Whether you like it or not, I'll formally confer upon you the title of Holy Knight of the Church of England. With this title and Kingsman's authorization, no one will be able to stop you from dealing with the abominations."

William smirked. "Fine by me. But if anyone tries to get in my way, I'll eliminate them right alongside the vampires and werewolves."
