"That's right," Sloan, who was feeling uncomfortable under Fox's gaze, growled in frustration, "All of our names have appeared. All of them. You want me to do this? To resist, or to point a gun at my own head and pull the trigger?"
After waiting for a few seconds and seeing that Fox didn't say anything, Sloan immediately pressed, "Tell me, Fox, what are you going to do?"
What to do? Fox, hearing this, instantly felt confused, but then she remembered that her parents had died because an assassin, suspecting someone whose name appeared on the Loom of Fate, let that person go, which led to their deaths.
Fox's resolve quickly solidified. She glanced at William, who gestured for her to do as she wished, then bent down, picked up her gun, and shot Sloan in the head.
"Wait."
With a loud "bang," before Sloan could say anything else, he collapsed, lifeless.
Fox immediately aimed her gun at William, but much to her disappointment, she only heard Wesley yelling, "Stop!" and the expected result—being shot by William or Carlos—didn't happen.
Sensing Wesley rushing towards her from behind, Fox didn't even look back; she threw an elbow into his face, then calmly said to William, "So, Wesley was deliberately sent into the Brotherhood for training by you."
"That's right," William nodded, looking at Wesley, who was lying on the ground with blood streaming from his nose, and sighed helplessly, "Maybe I should have waited another month before acting."
He continued explaining, "You have to understand the difficulties of being a father. Only people like you, who see Wesley as a tool, would relentlessly train and alter him. But now, it seems the results are far worse than I expected."
"You're not afraid I'll kill you right now?" Fox glared at William again and threatened.
"Haha, my name didn't appear on that Loom of Fate that you all worship as divine, did it?" William said with a grin, making Fox pause. He then continued, "So, you see, you have no reason to kill me. You should be thanking me instead—thank me for helping you complete a mission you were supposed to do yourselves, sending these assassins, who ended up on the Loom because Sloan was too afraid to die, to meet Satan. And, you can't kill me," William said with confidence.
Fox was about to argue when William snapped his fingers. A rush of air signaled someone approaching quickly. Before she could move her gun any further, a cold, gleaming katana appeared at her throat.
A chill ran through her, and Fox immediately froze, her head turned just enough to see the person in full white combat gear, with only black goggles covering their eyes.
The White Ghost didn't acknowledge Fox. They turned to William. "You still haven't told me who your enemies are. Next time, if you dare stand so recklessly in front of a gun, I'll kill you myself."
"Do as you wish," William grinned, "Congrats, didn't expect you to master the Ozu Crossbow's instantaneous movement technique so quickly. Looks like you've gotten along well with the Black Ghost."
"FK, didn't you hear what I just said?" the White Ghost snapped angrily. "I've already executed three missions for you. If you die, not only will my enemies live, but who the hell am I supposed to ask for my mission fees?"
"Didn't I pay?" William asked, puzzled, turning to Sunday. "Sunday, didn't I pay him?"
"NO, SIR. Only the first mission payment was completed. The payments for destroying the Ozu Crossbow's base and this current mission haven't been made yet."
"Alright, my bad, mate," even William, who had thick skin, felt embarrassed when he realized he hadn't paid. "Pay him 10% extra, Sunday."
"Understood, SIR. Transfer completed successfully."
Once the payment was processed, William immediately said, "Alright, money's been paid, now I'm the boss. Step aside. Don't you see Wesley Gibbs is glaring at you?"
"FKU, bastard," the White Ghost glared at Wesley, grabbed the gun from Fox, threw it to William, and then sheathed their katana before stepping back.
With a few exaggerated gestures, they waved their weapon around in the air, scaring Wesley before putting it back in its sheath. The White Ghost threatened, "If you glare at me like that again, I'll gouge out your eyes."
"Sorry, sir," Wesley, unarmed, quickly raised his hands, shaking his head. "I promise there won't be a next time."
"Hmph, idiot," the White Ghost sneered at Wesley. Ever since getting this battle suit that protected him from everything except heavy machine guns, sniper rifles, and armor-piercing rounds, the White Ghost had started looking down on ordinary gunmen.
Before, they were confident they could fight ten special forces alone, no sweat, but now, even against a squad of 36, they felt no pressure.
Unfortunately, the White Ghost didn't understand that Wesley and his father's most formidable skill was sniping from kilometers away.
William, noticing Fox's weapon, suddenly asked, "Where was this gun custom-made?"
By now, Fox had realized William had no ill intentions toward her. "It was made by a gunsmith, but he's already been sent to meet God by you."
"Ah, that's a shame."
Though William said it was a shame, anyone who wasn't blind could see he didn't actually feel that way.
After testing the gun in his hand, William looked up at Fox. "Alright, now we need to deal with your issue," he said, tossing the gun back to her. "If you truly want to honor your beliefs, just like Sloan said, put the gun to your head and pull the trigger."
Fox looked at William, then turned to Wesley. Seeing his terrified eyes, she placed the gun under her chin. "Sorry, I lied to you. The Cross is indeed your father."
"NO!" Wesley shouted as he rushed toward her.
"Click."
Fox squeezed the trigger, but the expected result didn't come. Realizing the gun had been tampered with by William, she opened her eyes and saw Wesley, with a face full of concern and regret, grabbing her arm and snatching the gun from her. "Thank God, thank God, you're okay, you're okay."
William rolled his eyes at the lovey-dovey Wesley and said to Carlos, who was still lurking in the shadows, "Bring him over."
Carlos said nothing, just stared at Wesley for a few seconds before turning and leaving.
"Benny, now we need to talk about your situation," William said, turning to Benny.
"Mr. Devonshire, I swear I won't say a word about anything I've seen here today," Benny, who had been doing his best to avoid attention, immediately said respectfully, "You don't need to worry. I have three kids."
