On the 10th of January 2020, a lunar eclipse occurred a normal astronomical event that happens around six times a year. However, this day marked a significant turning point in the world. Suddenly, a revival of spiritual energy caused a mutation in animals, giving them incredible power. The humans' hot weapons, which they were very proud of, were ineffective against these newfound abilities.
In a world on the brink of destruction, a resurgence of spiritual energy gifted certain humans with extraordinary abilities. These individuals were called "awakeners" and their powers were ranked from E (lowest) to SSS (highest). Based on their power level, humans were classified as spirit trainees, spirit warriors, spirit masters, Spirit grandmasters, Spirit Kings, Spirit Saints, and eventually Spirit Gods.
Monsters are categorized based on their power level, which ranges from Entry Beast, Beast-Warrior, Beast-General, Beast-Lord, Beast-Emperor, Demi-Beast God, and Beast God. In this world, the level of one's talent determines one's upper limit. It has been 25 years since the apocalypse, and till now, only three individuals have become Spirit Gods. The population of monsters greatly outnumbers humans, making it impossible to eliminate all monsters.
"I feel that what happened is insignificant to me because I am just a normal human being who never awakened any abilities. On a regular Monday, I went out to buy some vegetables but unfortunately, I got caught in a fight between two awakeners and lost my life. Being an orphan, there is no one to mourn or care about my death and, likely, the government won't pay attention to it either. What a messed-up world."
"I thought I had died, but when I woke up, I found myself in a tight space and was unable to move around. I felt like I was drowning, so I tried to swim up. However, I couldn't feel my hands or feet, but I managed to wiggle myself out of the space. What I saw afterward shocked me."
"I found myself in a large cave approximately 30 feet high and 10 feet wide, which seemed very deep. Glowing crystals filled the cave, and seven eggs surrounded me. Initially, I was frightened and wondered what kind of creatures these eggs belonged to. However, upon further observation, I realized I was a snake.
"I was completely devasted, as someone who enjoys novels, I instantly understood that I was reincarnated. But, why did I reincarnate as a snake, If I was going to be a monster I could have reincarnated as a Mighty Dragon. Snakes were one of the weakest monster races and even the strongest snake did not reach Beast Lord"
"I quickly accepted that I had become a snake. Even though snakes are one of the weakest creatures, I realized that I would be significantly stronger as the weakest monster rather than remaining an unawakened mortal. After accepting my transformation, I calmed down and decided to explore the cave first."
While exploring the cave, I stumbled upon a massive snake covered in claw marks and lying motionless on the ground. As I was about to venture deeper into the cave, I noticed seven eggs nearby. As expected, the eggs hatched and seven baby snakes emerged. I approached the eggs, and the snakes looked at each other in confusion but made no noise. From my knowledge, Snakes are cold creatures and don't have much affection for others of their kind.
"So, I ignored them and slithered deeper into the cave. Just then, "I noticed that the snakes were following me into the cave as well.". I turned around and asked why they were following me. one snake answered without a change in tone, "I sense a beckoning from the depths of the cave."
"It sounded very eerie but I didn't argue, so we proceeded further into the cave. After exploring for half an hour, we found a large pool blood-red in color. There were exactly eight dragon statues surrounding it. Upon reaching the pool, an ethereal silhouette of a human materialized above it."
At that moment, I called out to him and he was shocked at first but eventually calmed down. One of the snakes in our group asked him about the pool. He replied with a deep voice that the Dragon Pool was constructed by the last surviving ancient dragon Kings as a measure to prevent their race from becoming extinct. I inquired about the pool's purpose, and the figure looked at me with almost blood-red eyes and replied, "This is called the Dragon Blood Pool. It is filled with the blood essence of Dragon Kings."
The figure said, "If you soak in this pool, you can awaken a dragon bloodline." I was thrilled to hear this and all eight of us entered the pool, but even after a few minutes, we didn't feel anything. So, I asked the figure about it and he replied that the more potential one has, the longer it takes to awaken.
After that, we all remained silent and just relaxed. After a few hours, one of the snakes was surrounded by a dark brown light and when it cleared, it transformed into a human child. After a few seconds, the remaining snakes were surrounded by Green, White, Black, Yellow, and Red in that order and finally, A crimson-colored light surrounded me, and I awakened. And all of us turned into human forms.
The human bodies we transformed seemed to be about 10 year old. The figure was very surprised for a moment but instantly regained his composure. The red color snake asked the figure why they had transformed into their current form. The figure replied that they had successfully awakened dragon bloodlines, which resulted in their transformation.
I noticed his surprise but didn't enquire about it any further. Though I asked him why he generously gave us the dragon's legacy. Hearing my question the ghostly figure let out a evil laugh and replied with a grinning smile "If you were not chosen by the Dragon's essence you would have been lost your life and your blood would be absorbed by the pool."
