After an hour and a half Inengway finally calmed down. Everything in the room was organized and ready for the first day. Alix was sitting while reading as she waited for the class to start.
Now that all was in order the room actually felt quite calming to Alix. The light was produced by the very relaxing Tranquil-Blazes, which were a unique type of Lumi Crystal, and were a great choice for making the room comfortable. And the cushioned, wooden benches made Alix feel like never standing again.
This was nice.
"Lexi! Don't just sit there! Get him away from me!" Mo screamed while soaring across the room.
"Alix, do you happen to know the properties of this water? I assumed water mana at first but it is simply too viscous to be as such. Yet it doesn't seem to have that tangibility that dark mana has?" Winston questioned whilst chasing the Mo with a small scalpel.
"Scree!" snorted Trouler who was simply having fun running with Mo.
Ahh. Truly a calming atmosphere.
"BAM!" Alix flinched as the door was kicked in.
"What's up bitches!" She turned to see who had made such a loud entrance.
"Alisa has arrived with a gaggle of prizes and cheekbones that just won't quit!" Alisa Normandy stood proudly in the door. That was until someone walked behind her and kicked her into the room.
"Don't just stand in the door like some weird statue! You almost made me bald this morning you freak!" Alisa looked up at her aggressor to see a violent, boy barring his teeth at her. The aggressor that Alix recognized as Holiday.
"Why'd you kick me!?" Alisa asked in rage and confusion. Eric was appalled by the girl's question.
"YOU"RE ASKING ME WHY?! I JUST-" Eric was about to freak out on Alisa when he noticed Alix sitting in the front row and his rage quickly shifted to joy.
"It's your own fault! Now stop ruining my-Wh-HEY!" Eric completely ignored Alisa and dashed toward Alix like a dog that missed his owner. He slid next to her on his knees with a bright smile.
"Mama Wolf! I'm thinking about changing weapons! What do you think I should do?" Eric waited expectantly as Alix flipped the page in her book.
"That is nice, Holiday. What weapon were you thinking?" Alix spoke monotonously and calm in contrast to Eric's near squealing voice.
"I knew you'd think it was a good idea! You see I met this dude and he was soo cool! He told me that I couldn't cut him with my ritual knife if I tried so I tried and it really didn't do anything! Then he told me to find him later in the swordsmanship classes and he would teach me a few things. So I think I'm learning the sword? Hey, do you think I could become like one of those cool swordsmen from Slipha?!" Eric spoke very quickly with little to no breaths in between sentences.
...
Page flip...
"I think you should take this friend's advice before jumping to any conclusions. Now go sit. Winston's about to teach a class." Eric nodded and jumped into the row behind Alix. Alisa was still sitting on the floor in the back of the room.
She was feeling mixed emotions. Mostly anger and confusion but a mix nonetheless. At that moment the fourth and final member of this class walked into the room.
He had long straight, soft black hair. He was wearing a long, white spellcaster's robe that stopped just at his feet. He stood with the poise of an aged scholar.
"Alisa, what in the world are you doing sitting on the floor like a rock at the bottom of the ocean?" The girl turned in recognition.
"Denver! That boy in the front just kicked me on the ground. Then, when I tried to yell at him, he ran away and started talking to the pretty girl over there!" Alisa was on the verge of tears while she spoke which perplexed Denver.
"Okay. And why are tears cascading down your face like the Floods of Sorrow that tore the nations apart during the Mortal War?"
"BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET TO RELIEVE MY RAGE, DENVER! By Yoni's Greatest Fortune, you're an idiot!" Denver blinked unresponsive as Alisa stood from the ground. She wiped her clothes clean, though there was no dirt on her in the first place, dragged Denver to the back row benches and sat down.
During the commotion Mo returned to his fish bowl and Winston took his place at the front of the class. He grabbed a sheet of paper from the desk and started to look around.
"I shall call out your names just to be certain that all are in attendance. Please answer when called. Ahem, Alix Deminal!" Alix tapped on the table twice prompting Mo to leap out of his bowl and spell out the words 'Here' using his water.
Alisa and Denver watched the spectacle in shock but Inengway simply nodded and continued.
"Denver Echoes!"
"I a-" Denver felt an elbow dig into his side. He turned to see Alisa glaring at him. He understood the undertone in his companion's act and began his introduction.
Denver snapped his finger springing forth the cracking of electricity which summoned a fog forth. He reached into the fog, yellow streaks of lightning cracking as he did so, and the fog morphed into a quill that levitated above his hand.
The quill floated into Denver's hand and he gracefully traced into the air. "Like Blaze shinning down in the morning after relieving Knalia's gift of it's duty..." Alix watched the scene in astonishment as she was currently witnessing Denver trace on the air.
He finished his writing and sent the quill away with a flick of his wrist.
The word "Here" was written in the space with brilliant calligraphy. "...I am here." Winston nodded impressed and went back to the list.
"Eric Holland!"
Alisa smiled arrogantly waiting to see what sort of lackluster attempt to follow after that would her enemy attempt. Suddenly, Eric slammed his hands onto the bench and stood up. Alisa jumped as Eric was now standing completely still and silent.
She swallowed nervously. What was he about to do? Eric took a slow, deep breath in and...
"Present." He spoke in a grim tone.
...
Eric sat back down.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Alisa screamed. "All that build up just to say present! Are serious?!" Eric turned in his seat.
"Do you have some sort of problem with my intro, kiddo?" Alisa gasped.
"Did you just call me kiddo?" She spoked through gritted teeth. Eric smiled boisterously at the girl.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt baby's feelings." Eric wiped under his eyes mockingly. Alisa, who ironically was on the verge of tears, glared at the boy. Denver placed a hand on her arm and spoke to her in a calming voice.
"Alisa, let the rage flow out of you like a stream's flow into its river's basin." Alisa breathed out listening to Denver's words. After a few seconds she sat back down.
"Well, Alisa Normandy is clearly here." Alisa's eyes opened wide as she realized that she hadn't gotten the chance to show off like Alix and Denver.
She drooped her head down in sadness.
"Now!" Winston put the piece of paper down and picked up a book titled, "Monsters, Creatures of Unknown Origin".
"Shall we start our first lesson?"
...
"Lexi? Why did you make me do that?" Alix looked at Mo with only her eyes and shrugged.
"I just wanted to see how they would react."
