Chapter 9 - The Almighty's Command (The Dark Parasite)

The Echo of Victory:

The ruined church on Earth felt like the loneliest place in the universe. Cristino, exhausted and stained by grief, stood silently over the spot where Aries had vanished. Comm materialized beside him, his expression a mixture of profound relief and deep sorrow. They had won the war's primary battle, but the cost was absolute.

Cemin arrived with the remaining Light Embracer squad, carefully retrieving Michelle's body. The silence among the warriors was heavier than any shout of victory.

Back in the Light Realm, the remaining citizens celebrated, but the celebration felt muted, cautious. They had defeated Aries, the ancient embodiment of darkness, but the atmosphere was thick with the awareness of the immense loss. Cristino retreated to his isolated quarters, refusing all solace. He had achieved his revenge, but the act of killing had irrevocably changed him. He felt colder, hollowed out, the white light of his FATHIUM now feeling almost sterile and foreign.

The Divine Judgment:

Comm and Cemin eventually sought out Cristino. They found him staring at his reflection, the silver locket clutched in his hand.

"Cristino," Comm began, his voice grave. "You saved us. You saved the realms. But we have a terrible truth we must share."

Comm revealed the deepest, most sacrosanct law of the Light Embracers—the true command from the Almighty One.

"The Almighty tasked us not with Aries' destruction, but with his capture," Comm said, the words heavy with the weight of ancient law. "Aries, like us, was born of the original creation. By annihilating him, by denying him the chance for ultimate judgment, we have violated the supreme decree."

Cristino stared back, his expression hardening. "He took everything from me. If your Almighty One wanted him captured, He should have sent someone stronger."

"The law is the law, Cristino," Cemin interjected, his voice firm. "You acted on impulse, on personal vengeance, not on the directive of the Light."

The Last Laugh:

As they spoke, a chilling, disembodied voice echoed in the chamber—a spectral, triumphant sound that sliced through the air.

"The impulse was mine, little Light."

The three warriors looked around wildly. There was nothing there, yet the voice—Aries' voice—was undeniable.

A spectral image of the defeated Dark Embracer shimmered before Cristino, a final, malignant echo of his consciousness.

"You destroyed my body, Cristino, but you sealed my greatest victory," the voice gloated. "When I stood over your parents, when I sent you that dark dream, I did more than just break your will."

The specter pointed a finger directly at Cristino's chest.

"I implanted my Dark Essence—my very lifeblood, my concentrated darkness—into your being. It is now growing, bonding with your powerful FATHIUM. You did not kill me, little Light. You simply guaranteed that I will be reborn, stronger, within you. You are tainted. You are mine."

The apparition vanished, leaving behind a silence more terrifying than any scream.

Cristino fell back against the wall, his hands flying to his chest. He felt a cold, deep tremor just beneath his sternum—a parasitic, growing presence. He looked at Cemin and Comm, his eyes wide with fear and despair. Aries had ensured that even in death, he would claim the Light Realm's most powerful weapon.

The Final Preparations:

The council was reconvened, and the dire truth was shared. The Light Embracers were now fighting two enemies: the cunning Siren, who wielded the stolen FATHIUM core, and the dark parasite growing inside their own savior.

The human alliance—the agreement for strategic weapon deployment—had been a contingency plan for a long war. Now, it was their only hope for swift victory before Aries' dark essence consumed Cristino entirely.

"We have no choice," Comm announced, his voice ringing with resolve. "We must launch a final, decisive, all-out assault on the Dark Realm. We must destroy Aries' power base entirely, isolate Siren, and give Cristino the time he needs to cleanse himself."

They began the preparations. Twenty thousand Light Embracers were mobilized—the entire remaining fighting force. The mission was absolute: penetrate the Dark Realm's defenses and destroy the palace, the seat of Dark power.

Cristino watched the mobilization, the hope and fear of thousands resting on his shoulders. He was the most powerful weapon they had, yet he was now ticking time bomb, infected with the darkness he had sworn to destroy. He had killed Aries, but Aries had won the long game.
