Chapter 51 - Chapter 51

[51: SNOOOOP DOOOGG]

(One month later. Takoba National Stadium)

"We're here," Aizawa stepped off the bus, the class following behind him. "You've worked hard for this, but the hardest part is about to begin. Good luck to all of you."

"Alright, I'm going in, I don't want to be here for greetings and all that stuff." Eleanor rushed ahead.

"Hey, Eleanor, wait!" Mina shouted, but Aizawa held her back.

"Too late, we have people approaching. Look alive," Aizawa said.

/\\//\\//\

Thank goodness I went out quickly. I don't want to be around for those awkward greetings and introductions. I'll put on my hero costume, and then go wherever my classmates are. I need to hand them something.

Hold on…the Heroes Public Safety Commission is hosting this thing, which means there's going to be people from there watching this thing. It'll be hard to come across an opportunity like this again. Hmm…I need a highly effective, but low-cost attack vector that'll let me intercept data and push some malware on devices. But what kind of malware? I need malware that'll be able to spread to other devices on a network and remain dormant until I give a remote command or until it meets certain conditions. And I need a method to deliver it.

Oh…I know. I'll do what the United States and Israel did to Iran. Well, officially, no one took responsibility, but everyone knows it was them. The centrifuge attacks. Man, that was one hell of an attack. Say what you will, but I gotta give credit to them for that.

Well, let's test my cyberwarfare capabilities on the HPSC.

/\\//\\//\

(Orientation Room)

'Man, if I were a virus, this'd be a field day,' Eleanor thought to herself as she packed in with the other thousand and some more students taking the exam. 'This costume is so cool.' She had her hero costume on. The classic coat and the other accessories, but mainly the cap she had on.

"Hey, Eleanor, where were you?" Mina whispered.

"I was here. You all took a bit longer to get here," Eleanor whispered back.

"We met people from the other schools, and some of them were really weird. There was this one guy who was all about passion or whatever," Mina whispered.

Eleanor thought for a bit. 'Inasa…something. I forgot. The wind guy. Yeah, he might be a problem. One of the ones that can shut down a drone swarm with those instance winds. Or at least, a portion of a drone swarm. You can't get them all. Not like anyone here has something like an EMP.'

Eleanor whispered to Mina, "Just pay attention. Also, when this thing starts, I need to hand something to everyone, so I'll need your help to get everyone's attention. It'll be quick."

"Okay."

The presentation went on as normal. The person on behalf of the HPSC spoke about the rules. It was the same as Eleanor remembered. Only the first 100 to eliminate two others would pass. There were three targets you put on your body, you had balls to hit others with the targets, and you hit the targets on two people to advance.

When the orientation was over, the room they were in started to open up. The large walls came apart like a box, revealing the stadium they were in. Urban areas, mountainous areas, and other simulated environments were in the stadium.

Eleanor looked up, thinking of the tech and mechanism behind such a thing. It wasn't the most complicated thing, but it was cool nonetheless. Once the announcer finished, everyone started running, except for UA.

"Hey, wait! Eleanor needs to tell us something!" Mina shouted.

Eleanor immediately threw a few small devices to everyone. "I'm making this quick. Those are tracking devices. If you need air support, just press the button, and I'll help you. That's all. It probably won't last a long time. It'll be until I pass or fail."

"I don't need your help!" Bakugo refused.

"Your loss. Okay, enough time has been wasted." Eleanor started running. She hadn't run like this in a while. Her feet left imprints on the ground, leaving small cracks as her leg muscles and body worked hard to maintain her speed. A few more split off, but for the most part, they stayed together.

As soon as Eleanor had some space, her carrier rigging appeared. A helicopter came off of it, getting bigger and bigger, until it reached full-size. This was a magnetic-levitation-assisted helicopter. She needed to be agile. She opened the door and got on it. It was packed with mounted miniguns and Browning machine guns on the inside, and an autocannon under the helicopter. As soon as she got in, she took off her cap and put on her helmet. She was going to need the AI for this.

The helicopter started to lift and hover. And just as it did, the loud horn signaling the start of the first part of the exam sounded out.

'Just in time,' Eleanor thought to herself. Immediately, numerous small drones came off her carrier rigging. Some would be seeking drones, and others would be defensive drones meant to shoot down any projectiles or intercept any projectiles.

'Theodore, designate one part of the drones as attack and seeking drones, and another part as a defensive unit. Have this helicopter be the main priority for protection by the defensive unit. Have the attacking and seeking unit prioritize any pings by the trackers, and take control over those drones to differentiate between ally and enemy. Oh, and set up the network drone in the sky,' Eleanor commanded Theodore.

[On it, Eleanor.] Theodore responded, and immediately, some of the drones formed a sphere-like shape around the helicopter, and the attack drones spread out across the stadium, pending any ping from the trackers.

High above the stadium, a large drone steadily hovered. This one served various roles, but ISR and SIGINT, or Strategic intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and signals intelligence. It could also use electronic warfare, but that wasn't too important. Or is it?

"Alright, let's see." The representative of the HPSC got a laptop to monitor the test. But there was a problem. "Great, of course, something goes wrong. The machine can't even connect properly." He was about to complain, but the computer reconnected after temporarily losing connection. "Ah, there we go. Alright, now we can get to work." He felt ready, but then a pop-up appeared on the laptop. It was a request for a browser update. "Really? At this time. Whatever, these don't take long. Man, I really need a break." He clicked "Allow" on the update. It quickly installed, and everything went back to…"normal."

/\\//\\//\

[Eleanor, a successful man-in-the-middle attack has been conducted. A worm has been successfully downloaded on a device belonging to a member of the Heroes Public Safety Commission.] Theodore gave the update to Elaenor.

She couldn't help but grin. 'Wonderful. Look through the files and transmit them back to my tablet. Transmit files to me, and only do it when the sufficient activity on the laptop is enough to mask the background activity of the worm. When that is done, let the worm stay dormant. I'll give it a remote command to 'wake up' again later,' Eleanor commanded Theodore.

[It's being done.]

'Alright, now we can get the party started.'

Eleanor looked at her tablet. It gave a birds-eye view of the whole stadium. She could even see the helicopter she was in. Green dots symbolizing her classmates were visible, and red dots for enemies. 'What a cheat code. Oh well, don't blame me; blame biology.'

Class 1-A was surrounded already. They were defending themselves from an onslaught of balls being thrown at them.

"Hey, I think we need Eleanor's help!" Kaminari was panicked.

"I already pressed the button! It shouldn't be too—" Momo was interrupted when a swarm of drones descended from the sky like locusts. Some of the drones flew directly into a group of enemy students and set off flashbangs, destroying themselves in the process, letting out loud and blinding blasts. Some drones flew above, dropping small canisters that quickly exploded and disbursed a fine white powder; this was tear gas. Some of the drones shot out darts that electrocuted others; a stronger version of a taser. Some were unlucky to experience multiple effects at once.

The screams, shouts, groaning, and coughing of enemy students sounded out. Some were crawling, some were running away, and some were incapacitated.

"Uh…thank goodness she's on our side. I almost feel bad for them." Kaminari said. All of them were safe, a perfect circle where nothing hit them.

Through the noise, they could hear the faint sound of targets being hit. From above, Eleanor was holding a sniper rifle. It was a modified one she took from a drone she summoned, made to shoot the balls they were given. While on one knee, she aimed the sniper rifle, firing quick shots in succession, successfully hitting all three targets on one of the downed students. Of course, she wasn't the one doing this; her helmet, or the brain-computer interface system within, was compensating and doing most of the movement for her.

"I don't mean to be cheesy, but the cavalry's here!" Eleanor shouted from her helicopter after eliminating a student. "I got rid of the earthquake guy for you. Oh, well, you probably didn't know, since he got taken down already, but you're welcome! Use this to get some eliminations! I already got one, so you only have a few more chances to call for air support! Sayonara!" Eleanor's helicopter took off, leaving the class for themselves.

"Do we even need to do anything? She took all these people down herself," Asui said as she looked around.

"I'm not going to stand around! They're easy pickings!" Kaminari ran off, taking advantage of Eleanor's attack.

"She's like a deus ex machina to get us out of whatever situation we're in," Momo said.

In the stands, Aizawa was looking on. However…"Hey, Aizawa! What was that‽" Ms. Joke, or Emi Fukukado, was right next to him.

"That was a helicopter. Great, now Eleanor is causing me trouble even outside the testing area," Aizawa said.

"She could clear out the entire stadium herself," Ms. Joke said. Everyone was lucky she only used less-lethal and non-lethal methods of attack. If any one of those attacks had been even something as simple as an explosion…it would be a bad sight to see. "She's going to be someone to watch out for in the future. We might be seeing another top American hero in the future after Star and Stripe."

"Yeah, probably. It almost makes me wish she could stay here in Japan," Aizawa.

"But, you know, she did ruin it for your other students. What she did took away a lot of the work they had to do to pass this part of the exam. All that training they must've done, and they don't get to fully put it in place. It's one thing to help others out, but it's another for everything to be done for them," Ms. Joke said.

Aizawa stayed silent. Yes, he knew. But it was already done. "The test has to continue either way."

/\\//\\//\

The speaker system in the stadium turned on. "Okay, we're having our first students pass. And wow, someone took out at least 100 other students in an instant! For those who haven't passed you'd better get to it," The voice of the HPSC representative sounded across the entire stadium.

Eleanor leisurely sat inside the helicopter, her legs dangling off the edge. She was on her tablet, looking at the files transmitted from the worm injected into the laptop of the HPSC representative.

'Nothing big here so far, but…there's quite the suspicious stuff here. I'll need to wait until he goes back to their headquarters and connects to their network, so the worm can spread. It's good enough for now, and if I'm saying that from one measly laptop, I can only imagine what they're doing. And that's me having foreknowledge,' Eleanor thought to herself.

The helicopter continued flying, seeing if any more pings showed up, but nothing showed up.

'Alright, since I haven't gotten a request, let's pass this first part of the exam,' Eleanor thought to herself. 'Theodore, attack the closest student. Flashbang them and then electrocute them,' Eleanor commanded.

[Optimal target located on top of a building. Commencing attack.]

Multiple drones pulled away from the swarm, commencing a dive. As the drones started the attack, the one they were targeting fired soem projectile, taking down a few of them, but there was too many. The lead drone quickly found the student, blowing itself up in a flashbang. The other drone followed, electrocuting the student. The voice of a girl in pain sounded out. Eleanor positioned her sniper rifle and took three shots in succession, hitting all the targets.

'Hey, isn't that the girl who had the slingshot glove thing or something? She's part of the team that has that supposedly really smart girl, right? Sei…Seiia? Seiaiy? Whatever, I forgot, probably not important anyway. Although…those uniforms are very cool. Geez, the uniforms of UA look ugly compared to this. Why do I even wear it? I should just switch to the Italian one permanently. Drip is eternal, after all. Just look at Piccolo,' Eleanor barely paid an afterthought before she took off, heading to the area for the people who passed.

(A/N: Light-hearted and fun bonus science lesson! Feel free to skip this. I think, I'm not sure. Anyway, everything before this was a bit over 2,000 words. So this is an extra.)

Finally, I'm done with all that. How fun. There are already a few people here, but no one from Class 1-A yet. I'm first, I guess. When I entered the room, a loud voice was really obvious. Inasa Yoarashi! I remember now! That's who he is! The guy who makes giant cyclones and all this super unnecessary stuff! His quirk allows him to manipulate air and wind around him. There is quite literally no reason for him to do any of that cyclone stuff. He could literally kill someone with a simple swipe of his hands.

It's all about pressure. Let me explain. Let's start with breathing. When you "breathe" air in or out, it's driven by a pressure difference between the air outside your body and the air inside your lungs. This is caused by Boyle's law, which says that if you increase the volume of a space, the pressure inside that space drops.

When you breathe in, your diaphragm and rib muscles contract, expanding your chest cavity and lung volume. This volume increase causes the air pressure inside your lungs to drop below the atmospheric pressure. And because air always flows from high to low pressure, atmospheric air rushes into your lungs to balance it out. The inverse of this process happens when you breathe out. So, there's no breathing; it's just a difference in pressure that forces air to flow in or out of your lungs.

With this knowledge, we can weaponize it. And it's so easy. All Inasa has to do is make the air pressure right in front of a person's mouth and nose a lot lower than the pressure in their lungs, which will cause all the air in their lungs to rush out, making them pass out and die. Or, he can force air into someone's lungs, bursting them from within. This is insanely simple for someone of his skill. All he has to do is create a high-velocity stream of air rushing directly past a person's mouth and nose, and Bernoulli's Principle states that the localized air pressure drops drastically, which would cause the higher-pressure air inside the person's lungs to instantly rush out to fill that external void. If he maintains that vacuum, the person cannot inhale, resulting in rapid asphyxiation, and death.

The reverse is also true. It's mechanically the same. Forcing a high-pressure jet of air directly into the airway would cause a barotrauma. Lungs are fragile, thin-walled sacs designed for subtle atmospheric changes. Artificially forcing massive air pressure inward would cause immediate lung rupture and internal bleeding, leading to death.

Both of these processes could happen in less than a second. And in fact, when he made that big cyclone when he eliminated like a hundred people or something, that air was moving fast, one of these should've happened. There should be many students dead, killed by his hands, literally.

Like, has nobody thought of this? Anyone with a simple understanding of high-school physics could figure this stuff out. And he's from Shiketsu! They rival UA! Their academic program can not possibly be so bad that people can't figure this stuff out!

But fine, this is too much, or something, I don't know.

In that case, he can just create a wind blade. Literally. He can compress air into a thin sheet to cut some in half. All he has to do is take one of those cyclones and compress it into a sheet of air, and that'd be very easy for him. If he makes that air blade 1 millimeter thick with a leading edge that's 5 micrometers sharp and moving at 400 meters per second, the cutting pressure could cut almost everyone in half. This would probably be a lot of work to move air that fast, but since we've done ultimate moves recently, it can be something like that. And if it's not strong enough, just make it faster.

"Oh, bUt tHat'S tOo ViOlenT!" Is what some people say. In that case, he just needs to launch someone in the air. Like 20 meters or something, and let gravity do the rest. People die from falls all the time.

Whatever. We should be so lucky a villain doesn't have his power.

Oh, wait a minute, they do! All For One has an air cannon thing or something, right? He can just do that! My gods, he can kill All Might so easily! He can use that air cannon thing to rupture All Might's lungs and kill him like that! And with those other enhancer quirks he has, it'd be even worse! All Might's lungs should've ruptured, and he should've died on the spot when he got hit with it in the anime!

Do people not know how to use their powers‽

(A/N: She's one to talk. Anyway, that's the light-hearted and fun science lesson! [insert confetti and cheers here])
