[3rd POV]
With the knowledge that the events of the Spiderverse comics were now beginning, Gwen decided that it was time to start to do some meaningful multiverse travels. More specifically, it was time to finally interact with the mainline universe.
She was confident in her strength at this point, so she was certain that she should be able to at least survive the universe to an extent. It was also the universe that held the All Black Necrosword, the main blade of Knull, and a weapon she would like to claim for herself if possible, but she wasn't sure, as Knull was likely manipulating things differently in the background.
She knew that the inheritors were a group of people from Earth 001. They were basically life force vampires that quite literally fed on Spider Totems, aka Spider Men and Women. They gained life force from them, as well as power.
There were other totems out there, like the Panther totems, White Tiger totems, and quite a few more, but the spiders were the ones that had the "Best Life Force" and were the sole ones that they "Ate". It was also for this reason that they would eventually visit this universe, so that they can consume Peter from this universe.
But it was seen that they had not arrived just yet, and instead, it was actually a different group that caused Gwen to head down to Earth.
It was the Spider Army, at least, a group from that army. And from what Gwen could tell, it was the team led by Peter Parker, the OG himself, Earth 616 Spiderman. He was out trying to recruit more people, in order to fight back against the Inheritors.
The others in the team were a Spiderman with a bag on his head, an old man Spiderman, a robot Spiderman, and finally a Cow Spiderman. It was...an interesting group to travel around with, to say the least. And said group was now traveling towards where the Peter of this universe was, the Peter that was currently swinging through the city trying to find some crime to stop.
He was failing. It was a pretty quiet day today, thanks to her shadows.
She was also making her way through the city, but not by swinging. As she knew that now wasn't the time to hide behind that particular hobby of hers. She knew that the leader of the Inheritors, the man known as Solus, was powerful. Powerful enough that he was able to kill a Captain Universe version of Spiderman.
She was interested in getting involved in this particular event, primarily because it involved a very very very important part of the Spider Totem background, and the greater multiverse. The Web of Life and Destiny, it's physical manifestation, or at least, a form of it.
It was a three dimensional construct in five dimensional space. It's also sentient, and most importantly, it is in direct contention with the Symbiote Hive Mind. It would be a huge boon if she could find a way to bring it to the sacred place within Mars, where the M'Kraan crystal was also held.
The two objects were likely closely connected to one another, so it made sense to have them near one another.
Continuing to move through the city, she eventually found herself standing on top of a building, looking down as Peter from 616 was talking to Peter from her universe. She was not in her uniform at the moment, as hidden identities really didn't matter with an event like this, and she trusted Peter with the truth. Not that it would matter if anyone did find out, she'd just wipe their minds if they caused too many problems with the truth.
Gwen began to listen in, as she gazed down at them.
"So you're telling me that there are these super psycho vampire dudes who are going to come and try to suck the life out of me?!" Peter exclaimed with wide eyes, as Peter 616 nodded.
"Exactly. We're gathering all the Spider people we can so that we can fight back. We can't stop them alone, so we need to build a team as big as possible! We even have a safe planet to stay on and everything" Peter 616 responded with a smile, as the other Spider people next to him nodded.
"Affirmative. The planet that we inhabit at the moment is quite safe" Robot Spiderman informed, as Peter listened wondering what the hell his life had become. He was talking to a literal Robot version of himself, a damn Cow, and a version of him with a bag over his head.
"...Alright, and what about Ghost Spider? She's a lot more important than I am, and is kinda my mentor right now. A lot more skilled too" Peter asked, as Peter 616 looked surprised. He had only recently met Gwen from Earth 65, so to hear that there might be another was a shock, as he recalled that Earth 65 Gwen had called herself Ghost Spider.
"Where can we find her? We need all the help we can get, afterall" Peter 616 responded.
"Well...that's kinda difficult. Nobody knows, she sorta just appears when she wants. The first time was during the invasion of New York where she beat the snot out of Loki. But she's shown up several other times and beaten back all sorts of invasions before the Avengers can intervene. But I guess she should be somewhere in New York?" Peter responded, not really sure.
Peter 616 looked surprised at this, as not just anybody can defeat Loki, he himself had done it before, sure, but it had been immensely difficult. But to hear that she beat the snot out of him...was a shock. Not to mention the fact that she had been faster than the Avengers.
"Is she really that important here?" Peter 616 couldn't help but ask.
"Hmm? Oh yeah, she's considered the greatest hero on the planet by most people. She first appeared with the X-Men and didn't really show off much, but every time she shows up now, she's been showing more and more powers. It's why nobody has tried to stop her, cause a lot of people think she might be stronger than the Avengers like Thor" Peter responded, as this was true.
She had been slowly but surely showing off more and more, so that she could get away with more and more. And sure, this caused the Government a lot of problems, but that mattered very little to her, and didn't affect her.
"Now we definitely have to find her" Peter 616 said, realizing that she would be a huge boon to their cause.
"No need, I'm right here" Gwen's voice echoed from behind them as they jumped in fright, with Peter blinking in surprise, only for his eyes to widen as he realized she wasn't wearing her suit.
"Wha-" "What? Shocked? I thought it was about time I showed off my hidden identity, especially considering what we're getting involved with. I already know who you are, so it's only right to show you who I am. Gwendolyn Wayne, pleasure to meet you" Gwen said with a smile, reaching her hand out to her universe's Peter who blinked at her, before shaking her hand.
'Wayne? I guess things are different here' Peter 616 thought, while also noting that none of them had even noticed that she was there, meaning she had a lot of skill in stealth.
"So...the inheritors huh? Quite the predicament you've gotten yourself into" Gwen said with a smile as Peter 616 looked at her with wide eyes, realizing she already knew about them.
"You're not the only one who can travel the multiverse, Peter. I've been traveling around a lot and have heard quite a bit about them. Annoying life force sucking vampires that really like us Spider totems. Not particularly strong, but a direct counter to Spider totems" Gwen said, remembering how Solus was able to absorb the life force of a Captain Universe Spiderman, all because he was a Spider Totem.
Had he been a normal Captain Universe, Solus would have gotten absolutely slaughtered.
"I...what else do you know about them? Anything would help" Peter 616 asked, as Gwen hummed.
"Quite a lot. But it's best we get over to that home planet you're working on first. I'll be able to explain it easier if all of your people are gathered in one place" Gwen responded.
"What about your suit?" Peter asked, as Gwen smirked her symbiote surrounding her, her suit forming in the next instant, before it melted back into clothing.
"Symbiotes are really convenient for clothing" Gwen responded, as Peter 616 looked alarmed, remembering what he had gone through when using the Venom symbiote.
Gwen ignored him in favor of looking back at them as she began to walk away, asking the important question on her mind.
"So...when are we leaving?"

And so we begin the Spiderverse arc, properly. As said before, it's a very important arc for Gwen, and will be the prelude to the next huge arc that'll be a lot longer.
Anyways, have a good day!
