They all looked at the Pack-A-Punch II. "Jasmine, can you give the Ballistic Knives to Saeko please," Humungousaur requested.
"Only because you said please," Jasmine responded back with a smile on her face. "Here you go," Jasmine said as she gave her the Ballistic Knives.
Saeko held it and smiled. "Saeko lets them get upgraded," Humungousaur said.
"Yes Danna-sama," Saeko immediately responded. She put Slashed away and held the two Ballistic Knives. She had a twisted smile on her face. She thought she could kill with these weapons. She put it in the machine and pressed a switch. The machine started sparking and glowing blue. The gears were running full speed. There was a flag up. Then there was a ring.
Saeko picked up the two knives. The knives were both green. The first knife had a serrated edge and several cutouts. Its handle had a texture for grip and comfort. It had a red button and cylindrical base. The other knife was a short blade. "The Krauss Refibrillator," she remarked.
"Krauss Refibrillator?" Jasmine asked.
"Why is it called a Refibrillator?" Rei questioned.
"Because the other part of the knife might be able to revive us from the dead," Humungousaur responded.
"Wait so you mean it can turn those zombies back?" Saya asked. Her eyes widened.
"No, it is for humans who had just died," Humungousaur quickly corrected her.
"That still makes it incredibly useful," Rei responded. She thought it was a way to cheat death or get a second chance.
"We do have many things to keep us alive," Lois remarked.
"For you girls anything," Humungousaur responded. The girls all smiled.
"Now, let's head to the Buddha Room," Humungousaur said. He dragged Pack-A-Punch II upstairs next to Who`s Who. At that moment, Humungousaur turned back into James after a red flash of light.
"That is another step done," James said.
"What are we going to need the knives for?" Rei asked as she scanned around the rooftop. She saw there was an air-conditioning unit slowly turning its fans.
"We are going to need to kill some zombies with those knives," James responded.
Saeko had a big smile on her face. "I will kill as many as you like Danna-sama," Saeko responded.
James smiled and walked up to Saeko. He gently placed his hand on her head. "Just a few," he said with a warm grin as he rubbed her hair softly.
Saeko's eyes fluttered at the contact. She thought this was a different feeling. It was gentle, reassuring and grounded. "Danna-sama," she muttered. The rest of the group watched, a mix of affection and jealousy.
"I want my head patted like that," Jasmine remarked.
James chuckled. He walked to Jasmine and patted her head. "Here you are as well," he remarked.
Jasmine smiled as she got patted. She thought back to her mum when she was younger. She got patted a few times.
Saya cleared her throat. "Do you want one as well?" James asked as he moved his hand up and down Jasmine's hair.
"We should be going," Saya responded sternly.
James let go and smiled. "You are right, we should, I will pat you later," James said.
"I don't want pats," Saya responded back as she pouted.
"I could take more pats," Jasmine said.
"No," Saya quickly responded. The girls giggled.
They made their way downstairs and entered the Buddha Room. The window panels were shattered. The red ceiling columns were broken and splintered across the floor. There was lots of debris, shattered statues, torn paper lanterns, and bloodied prayer scrolls on the ground. The air was thick with the coppery tang of blood and the rot of death.
They saw a dozen zombies ahead of them in the room. They were groaning, sniffing and hungry for flesh. One dragged a twisted ankle behind him, another had no jaw, and a third had a chunk of his skull missing.
James pointed toward a golden circle on the floor. "We need to kill a zombie using the Krauss Refibrillator around that area," he said. "You would need to launch the knives from the holder as well," he added.
"We should come up with a strategy," Saya suggested as she looked around.
"It's too dangerous to just rush in," Rei agreed.
Saeko smiled. She darted forward, twin knives drawn, the Krauss Refibrillator in her hands. Her violet hair streamed behind her.
She slashed the first zombie in the neck. Her blade sliced clean through the flesh and tendon. The zombie's head was sent tumbling through the air in a red arc. The zombie gushed blood from his open neck. Saeko`s face and chest got splattered by the blood. She had a smile on her face.
Saeko raised her arm. She aimed at a zombie approaching her. She clicked the button on her bracer. There was a small piston moving and then one of her knives fired like a bullet. It went through the air and hit the socket of an approaching zombie's eye. It dropped twitching.
Before she could reach it, a third zombie lunged. She spun low and slashed upward. She severed its arm at the elbow. Black blood sprayed in a hot stream, dousing her left shoulder.
Saeko then lunged forward and stabbed the knife into its thigh to halt its advance. As it stumbled, she twisted her body and drove her heel into its chest. She kicked the zombie backward.
She pivoted on her heel and returned to the second zombie. She yanked the embedded knife free from its skull with a sickening crack. The blood sprayed in a long arc as she spun the blades out.
"She's insane," Saya whispered.
"A perfect, efficient killing machine," Lois said.
"She is strong and elegant," Jasmine remarked.
James thought all the above.
Saeko grinned. Her smile was wide, almost unhinged. Her pale skin was now covered with blood. She had a crazy look.
She sprinted forward again. Another knife launched from her bracer. It hit the zombie right in the throat. The creature gurgled and dropped. She jumped high, twisting mid-air, and landed on a zombie's shoulders. She plunged both knives down into its skull. The impact sent a spray of brain matter and blood upward. It coated her face.
The corpse fell beneath her. Without hesitation, she tore the blades out and slashed the throats of two more in a flash. Their blood painted the wall in wide arcs.
A seventh and eighth rushed her. Saeko ducked low and avoided their grasp. She swept the legs out from one, plunged a blade into its chest, and flipped over the second. Mid-flip, she slashed downward and cleaved open its back from shoulder to waist. There was blood leaking from his body.
Saeko stood tall. She was breathing hard. She was soaked in blood. She looked at the final zombie in the room. She walked towards it calmly. The zombie saw her approaching and flinched. Saeko pressed the button. She fired the knife from the Krauss Refibrillator. It struck clean through the eye socket and out the back of its skull. The body collapsed into the golden circle. It started to twitch and glow.
Saeko slowly turned back to the group. Her face was drenched in gore. There was a wild glint in her eyes. She had a massive smile on her face.
"Wow," Jasmine remarked. She was stunned to see how easily she killed the zombies.
"It is a bit scary," Rei commented.
James smiled. He walked towards Saeko and used a cloth to wipe her face. "You have a beautiful face," he remarked.
Saeko's heart fluttered. She smiled at him.
Saya sighed. She thought typical James.
"This is done," James said. "On to the next step," he added.
