Yohana and Luke went to the corner of the banquet hall, away from the noise, but she could still feel a pair of eyes following her as she walked.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disrespect you back there," she said in a low voice, looking down. She felt a tinge of guilt for using him as an escape route, especially after he had just confessed that his feelings for her hadn't faded.
"No!" Luke replied instantly, shaking his head. "There's no need to apologize." His playful smile softened, turning into something much more serious. "Rather, I wanted to know... what's really going on with you and King Iskander?"
Yohana became silent. She didn't know how to explain everything that was happening in her life.
How could she tell him that she was practically living in the palace as the King's slave? How could she even tell him that her brother sold her for some money?
