Chapter 31 - [31] Slave of Fate

A/N: Yo, Shonpufi Here!

FINALLY!

I. AM. FREE!!!!

This semester was absolutely horrendous. I also had a late-starting class, which meant I'd have to do 5-6 months' worth of work in about 2 months. Luckily for me, it was an English class, so I cruised through it like a breeze.

Anywho, here's the chapter.

P.S. Also just came back from a trip to Vegas. It was SO much fun. Found lots of cards ive been trying to find at my LGS.

-3rd POV-

From the very beginning, she was burdened with the curse of knowledge. Every choice, opportunity, breath, death, and life that would come and go was known by her.

Aponia knew of it all from beginning to end. She knew secrets that nobody knew; she had knowledge that could turn the world upside down.

But above all, the most horrifying thing she saw was the end of the world.

<------>

"13 catastrophic beings shall descend to the world, being that even the gods that are so proud of their strength will not be able to stop."

<------>

Even Aponia's friends couldn't escape their destined deaths. Sacrifice after sacrifice, there seemed to be no end.

Even Elysia, the first [Herrscher of #$#&@], couldn't escape her fateful death for humanity.

Of course, with a power such as reading the future, there must be a way to change it, right?

All you need to do is change one thing, and a whole new branch in time will be created.

But sadly, Aponia wasn't aware that changing fate had a price the first time she had attempted to do so.

When Aponia first tried to change fate, she tried to delay Kevin's awareness of the supernatural world, feeling he had grown up too fast and should not bear humanity's burden so soon.

From the moment he learned of the supernatural, and especially when he became a cold soldier to defend the world from the threat known as Honkai, he never stopped fighting for the world's future and to protect his friends.

And so, with determination, Aponia prevented Kevin from leaving school alone at 4:00, leaving instead at 5:00 with Mei. In this way, he wouldn't meet the rogue devil that would make Kevin aware of the veil that covered the world from the magical.

But fate had other plans, as instead of meeting a low-level rogue devil by himself, he met a mid-level rogue devil.

One strength level above what he was originally supposed to face, but that wasn't the worst part.

The fact that it was stronger than he was supposed to fight, AND that he had to protect Mei at the same time.

It was a hard fight, but he managed to neutralize him and awaken his sacred gear [Blade Blacksmith], which allows him to create holy swords with different effects and powers.

With the devil not being able to fight anymore, Kevin was going to finish it off, but his pleas for mercy made him hesitate. With that moment of hesitation, the rogue devil attempted to kill Mei, but Kevin managed to hack it down before it could reach her with his holy sword.

From that day, he closed off his heart to everyone except his friend and comrades so that his own emotions wouldn't cost the lives of others around him.

Even when he met the low-level rogue devil, he did not turn into such a cold man so quickly. Due to Aponia's interference, fate had been changed, but for a price she wasn't willing to pay. From that day on, she didn't dare change anything as she became afraid that the worst things would happen with her interference. All she could do was stand back and support them with everything she could.

That was until today.

The blonde boy named Otto Apocalypse, who wasn't supposed to exist in ANY of the timelines, was standing right before her.

An anomaly that defied destined fate itself had just presented itself before her; the only hope that she had felt in her whole life was right in front of her eyes.

She felt so much joy that she couldn't help but start weeping quietly inside. At this moment, she didn't care that her comrades were looking at her weirdly; all that mattered was that Otto could save everyone.

No.

THE WORLD.

'Ah, so this is hope...' It doesn't matter if it costs her body or her soul as long as his unique situation could change the grim fate of her friends, as long as he can save everyone, her whole being belongs to him.

A/N: In the original Honkai Impact, Aponia tried to change things with her future sight, but each time she did, things would go to shit or worsen considerably.

And with Kevin, he hesitated when killing one of the Herrschers because it started acting like a human, but it was all a trick, causing many lives to be lost. After that, he became a cold-hearted soldier so that the accident wouldn't happen again.
