But this encounter between two great armies did not take place in a head-on manner, but rather following a strange strategy of endurance.
The smaller army, although it had greater maneuverability in such a large field, was not taking advantage of this to do what they had done until now: use their maneuverability to destroy more, attacking flanks.
Instead, they chose a battle of attrition, which clearly did not benefit them, in which the first ones endured the attacks and moved backward, allowing new ones to withstand those attacks, and the cycle repeated itself.
However, although this did not seem to favor them, they moved so spectacularly with huge shields and extremely large weapons that it was too difficult to kill or tire them. So they managed to advance, even though they did not want to, as this tactic worked out for them in the best possible way: they held out and had time to kill those who attacked them.
