ARIA'S POV
I watched as the royal guards marched past us.
I didn't know why I suddenly felt so afraid. There was something about them.
Something about the way they carried themselves made my heart beat faster.
One of the guards suddenly turned his head and looked directly at me.
I froze.
His eyes stayed on me for a few seconds before he looked away.
I fidgeted uncomfortably..
Why was I so nervous?
I had done nothing wrong.
I had lived quietly in this pack for months.
I had never caused trouble.
I had never attracted attention.
So why did the sight of those guards make me feel like I needed to hide?
I watched as they continued marching through the market.
Then something unexpected happened.
One of the guards reached into his bag and pulled out several pieces of paper.
He began handing them to the people around him.
The other guards did the same.
Soon, papers were being passed around the entire market.
I stared at the paper that was placed on my table.
