Miracle's POV
I let myself relax against him. It was hard to believe this had only been one day. It felt like a lifetime. But here, in his arms, it finally felt peaceful. Meant to be.
"I feel like I've known you forever, Hardy," I whispered into the quiet.
"Yeah," he said, his voice a soft rumble. "I know exactly what you mean."
"Will I ever get to meet the real you?" I asked. "Or will I only ever see the part that smiles and acts like he hasn't got a care in the world? I like that guy. I really do. But something tells me I'd like the Hardy you're hiding even more. I think he's precious. And if you'd let me, I'd really like to meet him someday."
He let out a warm, hearty laugh. "Not today, sweetheart. Not today. Hush now, and get some sleep. Tomorrow's a bright new day."
