Hardy's POV
"What do you want to know?" I asked, moving to sit closer to her as if there weren't masked men circling us. "Go on, ask."
She looked startled, as if she hadn't expected me to agree. Frankly, I surprised myself. But everything about meeting her felt like something out of a miracle, a chapter from one of those fairytales she probably loved.
Watching her eyes light up made the impending, uncomfortable questions feel worth it.
"For real? Any question?" she asked, scooting closer. Her eyes were glittering with a hope I rarely saw in this place. Hope I have never seen in my eyes.
I chuckled. She was so damn gorgeous when her curiosity gets the best of her but I shouldn't give a genie free rein. Or she might end up wishing for world peace or worse, ask me a question I couldn't answer.
"Let's not go nuts, Babe. One question. Truthfully. You get to ask one question"
