Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 The Sacrifice (2)

Kushina wipes away her tears and summons the Adamantine Sealing Chains and controls the said chains to immobilize the Nine-Tailed Fox.

Minato's clone, along with the ninja who see the chains, quickly distance themselves to avoid being hit by the chains while at the same time avoiding causing trouble for Kushina while restraining the Nine-Tailed Fox.

The Nine-Tailed Fox tries to escape, but the chains move faster than it anticipated. The moment one of the chains manages to hold the one leg of the Nine-Tailed Fox, the latter quickly tries to use force to free itself.

Yet every time the Nine-Tailed Fox tried to break free from one chain, another would restrain it until the Nine-Tailed Fox was fully immobilized.

The ninjas nearby cheer up, happy that the monster who caused the death and destruction of their villages was about to be sealed once again.

Some even cry in both happiness and sadness. Happiness for what's about to happen to the Tailed Beast and sadness for the deaths of their family, friends, and comrades.

While these people know that it wasn't over yet, due to the exhaustion, be it physically or mentally or even both, it made them react this way.

Minato already summoned an altar where he placed his children—Menma and Mito. He was already prepared to perform the necessary hand signs to perform the technique to seal the Nine-Tailed Fox when he suddenly stopped.

"Minato, stop!" a commanding tone echoes throughout the surrounding area, attracting both Kushina's and Minato's attention.

"Lord Third? Tsunade-sama?" Minato said in bafflement, especially after seeing the two children on their hands.

"Minato, what are you doing?" Hiruzen asks; his voice wasn't asking, but rather it was looking for confirmation.

Minato began to explain the plan he had, which was to divide the Nine-Tailed Fox into two, which he was going to seal to both his children, Menma and Mito.

Minato also explains to both Tsunade and Hiruzen about the reasons why he decided to do this.

While Minato is explaining his reasoning and plan, Tsunade silently makes her way and places the two babies she is holding on the altar where Menma and Mito are currently lying.

"I understand, Minato, but you don't have to sacrifice yourself," Hiruzen said.

Minato was about to respond when Hiruzen continued himself.

"You are still young and just became a father; you still have many years ahead of you. Let this old man do the sealing."

"But..." Minato was shocked while staring at the burning determination in Hiruzen's eyes.

Did Minato really want to sacrifice himself for the village? The answer is yes, as long as it means that his sacrifice protects the village as a whole.

Does he want to leave his family behind? Of course not, but Minato understands his responsibility.

The fact that Hiruzen was willing to seal the Nine-Tailed Fox was good news for him, but it doesn't mean he liked it, but seeing the burning determination in Hiruzen's eyes, Minato knows that he can't stop Hiruzen, just like how Kushina didn't stop him.

"Minato, instead of your plan of dividing the Nine-Tailed into two equal parts, let me change it to divide the power of the fox into three equal powers while sealing the soul inside one of your children," Hiruzen added while staring at Minato's eyes. "Which one is going to get the fox soul?"

"Naruto, as the older one, he will be responsible for carrying the soul of the Nine-Tailed Fox," Minato said after calming himself.

Hiruzen nodded in understanding and quickly performed the series of hand signs and said in a deep voice, "Sealing Technique: Reaper Death Seal!"

A shinigami appears behind Hiruzen, holding his soul as a price for performing one of the greatest sealing techniques that the Uzumaki Clan created.

Nine Tails Fox noticed the appearance of the shinigami as well as realized what they were planning. The Tailed Beast increased the force behind his struggle, trying to escape the chains that bound it by Kushina.

The Nine-Tailed Fox was unable to escape, and not only that, but the fox also noticed that he was greatly suppressed by something. This suppressing feeling wasn't due to the chains but something else.

The Nine-Tailed Fox quickly tries to find the source of this suppression it felt, not only because it was uncomfortable but also because it was preventing it from being able to break free from the chains that bind it.

The Nine-Tailed Fox noticed the four babies that were placed on the altar, more specifically the boy with white hair and bright blue eyes who was staring at the Nine-Tailed Fox blankly.

'This boy manages to suppress me?! 'The Nine-Tailed Fox couldn't help but be stunned.

The Nine-Tailed Fox, the strongest Tailed Beast in the world, was suppressed by a mere newborn baby. Even Hashirama and Madara didn't suppress it with just their presence, but a newborn child could.

The Nine-Tailed Fox suddenly released a loud and thunderous roar of pain as well as unwillingness as the shinigami pulled out its chakra and split it into three equal parts, then sealed it into the other three newborn babies while the soul was sealed into Naruto.

After performing the forbidden technique, Hiruzen suddenly falls to the ground as if his legs are unable to support him anymore. Minato, Kushina, and Tsunade circled the dying old man while Minato's clone guarded the quadruplets.

"...Minato... after my death... protect the village from any possible harm," Hiruzen said with great difficulty.

"I will, Lord Third," Minato said while trying not to cry but failing.

Hiruzen then looks at Kushina, whose eyes are already red after crying. "...You've grown from a hot-headed child into a fine young lady... Kushina... I hope that you feel at home... in the Village Hidden in the Leaf after the destruction of the Village Hidden in the Whirlpools."

"You don't have to worry; I already considered the Leaf as my new home," Kushina responds while tears flow stronger in her eyes.

She felt relieved that Minato didn't have to sacrifice himself to seal the Nine-Tailed Fox but also felt sorry for what was happening to Biwako and Hiruzen right now.

"Tsunade... I know I failed you the most... after the death of your brother and lover, but... I hope that you will stay in the village and help Minato protect it just like your grandfather and granduncle did... Also, tell Jiraiya and Orochimaru that I am proud of you all as a sensei..." Hiruzen said, looking at his apprentice while his voice got lower as the time passed.

"Yes, Sensei," Tsunade responds while tears flow from her eyes.

Tsunade knows that Hiruzen feels guilty about her losses and tries to amend it. She understands the responsibility behind the job as Hokage, but she still can't forget the tragedy that happened to her loved ones due to her teacher's decisions.

Still, she will honor her teacher's last word since, at the end of the day, it wasn't really her teacher's wrong action that caused the tragedy she felt.

Hiruzen looks at the moon while reminiscent of his past. His life wasn't really a bad one if one looks at it, but he still had many regrets, like being unable to reunite with his wife in the afterlife, letting his best friend slip into the darkness, and many more.

Hiruzen slowly closes his eyes while the ninjas slowly surround him and mourn the loss of their Third Hokage, who had been their leader for decades.

Minato doesn't allow himself to mourn for their losses just yet. He had a responsibility he must undertake and a village to lead. Only after dealing with the current problem can he mourn the loss of the Third Hokage and his comrades in the battle against the Nine-Tailed Fox.

With Minato's leadership, everyone immediately began working on rebuilding their village while at the same time paying respect to the fallen who died by the attack of the Nine-Tailed Fox.

Throughout the entire night everyone begins gathering every single corpse that is still intact and hasn't turned into ashes before they begin a mass burial, which is going to take place the moment the sun rises on the horizon.

Be they ninjas or civilians, everyone begins to help each other and at the same time mourn for the losses they felt this night.

When the sun rises on the horizon, everyone immediately begins burying the corpses. The whole Village Hidden in the Leaf felt sadness at the loss of lives that happened thanks to the tragedy, especially the loss of the Third Hokage, who sacrificed his life to seal the Nine-Tailed Fox.

This event was also heavily investigated, especially the Uchiha Clan, due to the Sharingan everyone saw in the Nine-Tailed Fox's eyes.

With the recorded history of one of the Uchiha managing to control the Nine-Tailed Fox, the blame for what happened that night is placed on the whole clan.

While the whole Uchiha felt clearly wrong about the blame they received, Minato's reassurance of helping the whole clan clear their name made them endure the blame for the time being.
