Here among the Chu people, you call it civilization, with its poetry, elegant attire, music, and grace.
Yet, aristocrats remain aristocrats, and servants are forever servants; the ingrained hierarchy is so clear, as if etched into their very bones.
Consider Lord Zheng, whose journey began from commoners, coming from Hutou City in Beifeng Prefecture, yet truth be told, no one in Yan would disparage Lord Zheng's origins, at least, not openly.
After the mounted assault on noble ranks, the court has mostly turned into "mudfooted men," and even if they're not, they must smear themselves with a layer of mud, never daring to claim they belong to a noble family.
Your family is the noble family, your entire family is noble!
Those with true talent must have pride in their hearts.
Lord Zheng doesn't believe Nian Yao never had such thoughts.
