Vera Wave eyed the bottle on the table with hesitation.
"It's painkillers," Kris Cooper explained.
He... he actually went to buy her medicine?!
Vera sat upright. "Boss, thank you very much!"
As she reached for the cup, Kris swiftly moved it, evading her hand. He brought the cup to his own lips to test the water's temperature. Confirming it was just right, he then held it to her lips.
Vera took a sip of water as he held the cup. Then, he pinched a pill and placed it in her mouth.
After ensuring she had swallowed the pill and giving her a couple more sips of water, he put down the cup and gently settled her back onto the pillow.
Kris turned off the main light and left the bedroom again, closing the door behind him.
Vera listened intently but didn't hear him leaving.
What is he up to?
While she was still wondering, the bedroom door was pushed open again.
