Chapter 31 - 1-

Chapter 1: Prologue- Beginning of Legends

Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo were both born and raised in the same neighborhood, so they pretty much knew each other from birth. To say they were best friends was an understatement, they were practically brothers and their parents can even call them that if they wanted to. Their mothers: Inko Midoriya and Mitsuki Bakugo were very close, best friends when they were young, and their friendship stayed that way all the way to their weddings with Hisashi Midoriya and Masaru Bakugo respectively and having sons of their own.

Hisashi was a businessman while Inko was a stay-home mom; Mitsuki became a fashion worker while Masaru worked with music. The two lived very close to each other so the two pairs and their respective sons would meet up together on the regular. Izuku and Katsuki both grew up to be respectful, kind boys and their parents didn't need to worry about what they wanted to become as grownups. When asked what the two boys want to become, it's pretty obvious that every child's dream: to be a hero.

You see in their society it's a world full of superheroes, like the ones in comic books but in this world it's real. Long ago, there were people who developed powers called Quirks, an unique ability that gives said people extraordinary abilities. Despite the feuds that happened in the past with said powers, the world is now a superhuman society where 80% of the population now have a power of sorts. As such, being in said superhuman society, it's obvious the two's dreams were to become heroes ever since the world introduced the Symbol of Peace and current Number One Hero: All Might.

All Might was the strongest hero in all of Japan, gifted with a very unique Quirk that practically makes him unbeatable to any villain alive. In fact, he's so powerful that compared to other countries with a crime rate of over 20%, All Might was able to keep said crime rate below 6 to 3%. As such, their society and Japan was a relatively peaceful place with nothing to worry about as long as All Might was around to deal with the villains.

Additionally not only was he around to keep the villains occupied, but he's also a major influence on the world as kids all around the world want to be just like him: a cool, strong hero who fought villains and worked to keep them behind bars. Thus, after seeing All Might for the first time on a tv screen, Izuku and Katsuki's idol was found and their dreams were set in stone.

Continuing onward, a child's Quirk starts to show around the age of four years old. After going to the doctor's office, it's confirmed that the two boys will develop Quirks when they come around. As time went on and Katsuki turned four, it wasn't until a few months in school that he finally developed his Quirk: Explosion- being able to create a liquid that acts like nitroglycerin from his palms and denote them as explosions.

Everyone in both his school, his parents, his best friend, and his uncle and aunt were so proud and impressed with his ability that everyone told him that he'd make a strong and powerful hero. Of course, the price of praise comes with arrogance and ego, but it's nothing to worry about since Katsuki would have small talks with Izuku's father Uncle Hisashi.

"Did you see that Uncle Hisashi, did you see it, huh, huh? I bet no one has a greater Quirk than me!" Katsuki bragged with mini explosions popping out of the palms of his hands as Hisashi stopped drinking his coffee and reading his newspaper. It was a Saturday afternoon so Hisashi and Katsuki's parents had no work on the weekends. The two days were perfect for weekly hangouts and play dates for the two boys.

However, this particular weekend had Izuku leaving to get groceries with Inko and she didn't have time to tell Mitsuki. Despite it, it didn't stop her or her husband from coming over and revealing that they're going on a date night and Hisashi agreed to look after Katsuki until they returned or he can stay over for the night. After explaining the situation for Inko and Izuku's disappearance, Mitsuki and Masaru kissed Katsuki and waved him goodbye as he spent some time with his favorite, and only, uncle.

"Yes, it is a great Quirk. But Katsuki, make sure you don't let all of the praise get to your head." Hisashi gently lectured as he put down his coffee mug and set aside his newspaper. Katsuki turned to look at him and yelled out.

"What! Of course not, I'm going to be the biggest, baddest, coolest hero that'll be even greater than All Might!" Katsuki screamed as he tried to jump on the coffee table but Hisashi grabbed him before he could try and kick his mug.

"I know, I know. But Katsuki… it's not the Quirk that makes you cool. It's you yourself that makes you cool." Hisashi explains as he gently places Katsuki on his lap.

"I know, I'm awesome and the best at everything!" Katsuki beamed brightly, though it seemed that he didn't quite get Hisashi's message there. So to further elaborate…

"That's not exactly what I meant. What I meant was that a person, no matter a hero or not, they aren't defined by their Quirk. You see Katsuki, I know All Might is the greatest hero of all but it's not just his Quirk that makes him the greatest: it's his personality, his charisma, his actions, the fact that he wants to do his best to make the world a better place, how he tries to save all the people he can save. All of those qualities and many more are what make All Might All Might, and what makes him the best hero Japan has to offer." As Hisashi finishes, Katsuki looks at his uncle in awe as he processes his words.

"So Quirks aren't what define a person… but actions and personality do?" Katsuki looks up at his Uncle and sees his smile further spread on his face.

"Correct." Hisashi exclaims as Katsuki jumps off his lap once again and puts his hands on his hips and beams.

"If that's the case then I'll be the greatest hero who never loses, just like All Might!" And once again, it seems there's something else that Hisashi needs to confirm with Katsuki as he laughs heartily and gets up from the couch. He crutches down as he rubs Katsuki's head.

"Alright big guy. It seems you're still letting some things get to your head."

"Am Not!" The little blonde pouts as he stamps his feet adorably.

"You are." Hisashi says more sternly this time with his nice smile turns into a tight frown and his eyes narrowing slightly. Katsuki drops his pout and cowes before him. Whenever Hisashi or Inko become more serious, it usually means that they are dropping their nice acts. Mitsuki always told Katsuki to never make either Inko or Hisashi mad, as it seems to run in Midoriya blood to be scary whenever they're mad.

"Katsuki look, I'm not saying you're not great and all. I'm just telling you not to get in over your head, have you ever heard of the seven sins?" Hisashi gets in front of the boy and puts his hands on his small shoulders. Katsuki looks at him before thinking hard and forming the usual thinking pose anyone would do.

"Only four.... Sloth, envy, wrath, and… pride." Katsuki's eyes widen and his eyes drop down to his sides as he begins to realize what Hisashi's trying to tell him.

"You're good and it's okay to remember just four. But what I'm trying to say Katsuki, is that when someone allows their pride or arrogance go over their head, they develop egos and think they're great when there are still things they need to work on. In fact, some heroes let their own egos get to them and make them think they can handle anything when this just gets them into trouble or try to handle something they actually can't. And in cases like those, sometimes, they don't come back."

"But, but, All Might can do anything. He always wins and saves people with a big smile." Katsuki seems to become desperate as he clenches his fists.

"I know All Might can do anything, but even he needs help and even he lost a few battles in the past." When Katsuki looks at him with disbelief and attempts to retort, he continues, "Katsuki, even the strongest, greatest, or the bravest people need help. And that includes All Might. While the tv screens or real life shows he doesn't have help there with him, I'm pretty sure he still needs it and I bet you that in the past, he needed a lot of help to become the Number One hero. Everyone needs help and there's no shame in asking it, and there's no shame in losing either. In fact, losing is essential to growing. Sure, winning is nice and all, and it shows how much you've grown and improved but it only gets you so far in life, you need to lose once and a while in order to learn something that winning can't teach you, like what you need to work on and strengthen in areas that you didn't know you're weak in. That's how people grow, unlock their potential, and become the best they can ever be. And I'm pretty sure that's how All Might and many heroes became the people they are today."

Hisashi finishes his speech while tightening his grip on Katsuki's shoulders as the boy looks at him in awe. This new information given to him by his uncle was still a lot to take in, but it felt like he learned something important too. Deep in his heart, he felt some things that he thought he can only feel whenever he and Izuku watch All Might in action on a tv screen: admiration, respect, and someone he can look up to. With a hand gripping his shirt and looking at his fist, he sets his gaze on Hisashi and scrunches his face to a serious look, though a cute one.

"I think I get it." Hisashi's face goes back to his gentle smile as he releases Katsuki's shoulders and stands back up.

"Good and don't forget this as you get older, okay?"

"Never!" Katsuki screams as he lets loose small explosions in order to not accidentally burn something. He sees Hisashi feeling his phone buzzing and goes to answer it. A few words were exchanged with the person he's talking to but Katsuki can hear Auntie Inko on the line. He hears that they're coming back in a half an hour with Hisashi planning to make them lunch before they get back.

"Looks like someone's an eavesdropper. Want to help me make Katsudon for Auntie Inko and Izuku before they get back?" Hisashi asks as he leans down to ask Katsuki and the boy excitedly nods his head. Laughing, Hisashi and Katsuki go into the kitchen and they begin gathering ingredients in order to make katsudon.

The two worked together in chopping up the pork and veggies, cooking the rice, scrambling the eggs, and many more in order to make his best friend/brother his favorite food. As Hisashi and Inko said, it took her and their son half an hour to make it back home. Her husband and 'nephew' set four bowls of katsudon on the table when they heard the door click and swing open.

"Hey boys, we're home!" Inko exclaimed as she put down the groceries as she and Izuku put away their shoes. Hisashi and Katsuki walked, well the latter was more running, towards the two as the boy leapt his way to Izuku.

"Hi Izuku, we made Katsudon!" At the mention of his favorite food, Izuku's face lit up like a christmas tree.

"Really?!" Katsuki immediately takes Izuku's hand and they begin running towards the dinner table until they heard Inko's voice.

"Uh-uh boys." The two stop in their tracks, they forgot what happens when Inko comes back with groceries.

"You two know the drill." Hisashi smugly looks back at the two as the boys slump their shoulders and begrudgingly trudge their way to Inko. They grab two bags each and make their way into the kitchen to put away the things before eating. Luckily, they did it quickly so they can eat as soon as possible. Hearing the clattering sounds of cabinets slamming, Inko shook her head in amusement as Hisashi warps an arm around her.

The two grown ups help the two out with the remaining bags. They were able to put everything in their respectful place in a few minutes before sitting themselves on the chairs around the table. They say their respective prayers for the food before they begin eating. Izuku and Katsuki dig into their bowls in a rapid session that causes Inko to stop eating and scold the boys.

"Izuku! Katsuki! Slow down, you'll choke!" She screeches as the two put down their bowls but their cheeks are stuffed full with katsudon. The two swallowed with audible gulps before wiping their mouths with napkins.

"Sorry Mom, but it's so delicious!"

"Yeah, Uncle Hisashi and Auntie Inko's famous katsudon is so good that I can eat ten bowls of it!"

Izuku and Katsuki stated as the former's parents blushed at the praise of their 'famous' katsudon recipe. Hisashi laughed behind his hand and chopsticks while Inko sighed and sagged her shoulders.

"Still if you eat too fast, then you'll choke. And isn't best to savor the flavors slowly~" Inko responds with a mischievous smirk and glint in her eyes. Her husband side eyed the two boys as they began to process the idea of savoring the katsudon much slower next time. Izuku and Katsuki then turned to each other and began speaking as though they can read each other's minds.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea."

"True, especially when you hear the crunchy sounds of the pork-"

"Or the creaminess of the scrambled egg-"

"Or the cooked rice-"

"When it's at the right temperature-"

"And flavor-"

"IT'D BE A FOOD PARADISE!" The two screamed as though they came to a profound realization. Inko and Hisashi laughed out loud at the boys' antics as they made a "solemn vow" to eat food much slower next time. However, it seems that the adults laughing is what made the two realize that they've been tricked.

"HEY, YOU TRICKED US, MOM/AUNTIE INKO!"

"I'm sorry… but you've made your "solemn vow"... so you have to eat your food slower next time…" Inko said in between laughs as Hisashi began laughing harder than before. Katsuki and Izuku made pouts before laughing out loud as well.

After the heartful meal, the adults cleaned up while the two boys began playing inside Izuku's room with All Might toys and bouncing around the area. Izuku's room was filled to the brim with posters of his and Katsuki's idol, to his walls, his computer home screen, his bed sheets, and even his clothing were all All Might-themed pajamas. It's always a party whenever the two come over to either boy's house, as they would play with each other and have fun until they literally drop and fall asleep before leaving with their parents.

The day progressed with Inko and Hisashi planning a regular movie night as they got a call from Katsuki's parents that they won't be able to pick up their son as their date night will end very late. Additionally, getting home will be a challenge as the roads are filled to the brim with traffic, but this isn't the first or last time Katsuki's ever stayed over at Izuku's apartment.

The boys didn't stop playing 'hero vs villain' with either boy being All Might and another boy playing bad guy for All Might to beat. Hisashi comes in occasionally for both Izuku and Katsuki both play as All Might so it'd be fair in a way. Come nighttime, Inko had set up the mini coffee table with some snacks and juice for everyone to enjoy. Izuku was sitting in his mother's lap while Katsuki was sitting in Hisashi's, the movie the four were watching was, yet again, an All Might one where he first debuted by saving one-hundred lives from a train that crashed. Despite Katsuki and Izuku's exhaustion from playing all day, the two battled their fatigue in order to watch their favorite film of all time. By the time the movie ended and end credits rolled in, did the two finally fall asleep. Inko and Hisashi looked at the two with loving smiles before they carried the boys on their respective laps off to Izuku's bed. After tucking them into bed, Inko leaned over and kissed both boys on their foreheads before leaving and closing the lights.

"Sleep tight you two." Hisashi says as he closes the door quietly.

After that day, Mitsuki and Masaru came over and picked up Katsuki as they waved goodbye. Hisashi shared a look with Katsuki, and the boy knew what it meant: "Don't forget what we talked about."

The boy raised his left fist in the air, which is All Might's signature pose after a victory, and beamed a large smile. Months have passed and Izuku's fourth birthday also went by too. After a few more weeks Izuku hasn't shown any sign of a Quirk. It was summer vacation so that meant no school, as he and his parents went over to Katsuki's house for a playdate. A dreadful thought crossed over Izuku's mind as he and his best friend were playing with All Might figurines. It didn't take long for Katsuki to notice and looked over.

"Hey, what's the matter?"

"Katsuki, what if… what if I don't have a Quirk?" Izuku asked with a crack in his voice and his eyes looked watery.

"So what if you don't? You can still be a hero even if you're Quirkless." Katsuki stated bluntly. Izuku looked at him with a hopeful look as he continued. "There are tons of Quirkless heroes in the other countries, and even if there isn't one in Japan, you'd be the first Quirkless hero and that's something to look forward to and it's awesome. Listen, Uncle Hisashi told me this once, it doesn't matter what your Quirk is and it doesn't make you a hero. It's your actions and personality that makes you who you are, hero or not. And so, who cares if you don't have a Quirk, we'll still be the best hero duo this world has yet to see!"

After affirming that with a big, bright smile does Izuku's tears leave his eyes and he too, reforms his sad face to a happier one.

"You're right, even if I don't have a Quirk, then I'll become Japan's first Quirkless hero!"

"That's the way! Hey, do you think you can hand me the All Might cards we got last week?" Katsuki pointed to the ones on his bed. They were inside a small plastic bag so Katsuki won't forget where he puts them in. Izuku stands from his spot on the floor and grabs the bag, however, just as he's about to hand the bag over he doubles over in pain. He drops the bag and his arms immediately wrap his middle section.

"What's wrong?!" Katsuki stands up as his hands wander Izuku's body.

"I-I don't… know… but it… hurts...AHHH!" Izuku collapses onto the floor as he breaks out in a massive sweat that quickly damps his clothing and it begins to stick to his skin like glue. Steam begins to come off his body as Katsuki tries to put his hands on him but the moment he does, he retracts them as he feels the sensation of being burned.

"Ahhh! Izuku… you're burning up!"

"It hurts… it's so hot… help-help me Katsuki!" Izuku's eyes refill with tears as he looks at his best friend with fear on his face. This breaks Katsuki out of his stupor and he doesn't hesitate as he runs out of the room and goes downstairs as quickly as he could. He sees his parents and Izuku's mother and father talking about something before he shouts.

"Mom! Dad!" The adults look to Katsuki and see the anxiety on his face.

"Katsuki, what's wro-" Mitsuki gets cut off.

"Izuku needs help! His body's burning all of a sudden and he says it hurts!" Katsuki screams as horror runs through Inko and Hisashi as they bound upstairs to Katsuki's room. Mitsuki and Masaru follow but not before the former grabs her phone to call 9-1-1. Katsuki follows them and when he gets to his room, he's terrified from what he sees.

Hisashi has a hold of Izuku as his Fire-Breathing Quirk gives him some resistance to anything heat-based, so this allows him to grab onto his son without getting burned. Inko is crying streams of tears as she tries to address the situation. Mitsuki sees this and immediately calls 9-1-1 and begins telling the operator everything while Masaru runs from the bathroom with a bowl full of cold water to quell Izuku's fever. Despite the frantic movements of the four adults, it's Izuku that's scaring Katsuki.

His body wasn't that of a human anymore. Katsuki was only gone a few seconds and Izuku's body has transformed in the same matter of seconds: his still human-looking face now has black tear-streaks running from the corners of his eyes to the corners of his mouth, white fur surrounding his eyes, his lips, chin, throat, and Katsuki can see bits of white poking out under Izuku's armpits from his shirt. Forest green fins on either side of his face, large bat-like ears are formed on the top of his head, a pair of bat wings teared through the back of his shirt as they're curled around him. His body was covered in emerald green fur with blotchy spots and stripes littering them, forest green scales littered his hands and elbows as fins appeared under his elbows. His knees were a lighter green compared to his arms and a long, skinny tail that was completely black with one white stripe and a big green leafy fin was poking out of his shorts.

Time passes very slowly for Katsuki as he doesn't know what has happened to his best friend, despite the fact that Izuku's Quirk has finally appeared. It takes twenty minutes for the ambulance to arrive as Inko and Hisashi leave with them and Izuku. Mitsuki and Masaru take Katsuki and follow the van in their car, going as fast as they can in order to see which hospital they were going to.

It took the Bakugo family a while to find parking in the hospital's parking lot, but they managed to find a space in a matter of seconds. After talking to Inko, in a panicked, tearful voice, they learn that the Midoriya family are on the second floor, room 205 does Mitsuki carry Katsuki in her arms as Masaru locks the car and they rush inside the hospital. After entering and exiting the elevator, dodging doctors and nurses, being careful to not run or bump any patient in either a wheelchair or deathbed, the three finally find Inko and Hisashi waiting outside a hospital room.

"What happened? Is Izuku okay?" Mitsuki asks as Katsuki looks at the room's door in fear. Fear for his best friend who's suffering from his Quirk appearing.

"We don't know yet. They just took Izuku inside and told us to wait out here until they figure out what happened, but it looks like his Quirk appeared." Hisashi exclaims calmly while comforting his distraught wife.

"Let's hope things don't get any worse from here." Masaru tries to lessen the tension but his wording seems to make things worse as Mitsuki slaps him on the arm. He flinches as Katsuki tightens his grip on his mother's shirt before asking.

"What… what'll happen to Izuku?" He whimpers as the four turn to him. His eyes were beginning to water as he huddled closer to his mother. Concern etched on his face as his body trembled in anticipation and stress. Realizing, their fears were making the little blonde scared, they calmly address the situation for him. Mitsuki gently sets him down on a bench as she crunches down to his eye level.

"We don't know what'll happen to Izuku yet, but I'm sure the doctors and nurses will take good care of him. But, if he does need help, will you be the one to give it to him?" She asks as Katsuki wipes his eyes and sniffles before furrowing his brow.

"Y-You bet I will." He states as Mitsuki smiles and rubs his head before kissing his forehead. Masaru, Inko, and Hisashi smile at the mother-son moment before they hear the door opening and Dr. Sako comes out with a clipboard in hand. Mitsuki stands up as Katsuki looks around her to better hear the conversation.

"Dr. Sako, how's Izuku?" Inko asks as she clasps her hands together. Sako raises his glasses before going over the information on the sheets.

"Izuku Midoriya has a high fever, but give him some time and we think it'll break tomorrow morning or afternoon. It was a bit of a scare for all of us, but no worries, he will make a full recovery. And more good news, his Quirk appeared, it took us a while to get it under control, but it's successfully suppressed for now and he'll be fine." Sako exclaims with a smile in hopes of lessening the families' worries. Inko breaks down into happy tears but less hysterical than before as Hisashi breathes out a sigh of relief. Masaru almost collapsed as he puts his hands on his knees as Mitsuki sighs and looks back to Katsuki with a thumbs-up. Katsuki takes this as good news and offers his mother a thumbs-up in return. Unfortunately, the moment is cut off when the doctor looks at his clipboard and fixes his glasses.

"However, there is one thing that bothers me." And with that, the relief is replaced with worry once again.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Hisashi questions worryingly as Dr. Sako looks at him and Inko.

"Nothing's wrong with him besides his fever, but if it's not too personal, what are your and your wife's Quirks Mr. Midoriya?" This causes the two to recoil and look at each other before answering.

"My Quirk is Fire Breathing"

"And my Quirk is being able to attract small objects to me, why?" Hisashi and Inko answered as the doctor rechecks the papers once again to see if his info is correct.

"It's just… neither of your Quirks match Izuku's. This has happened before where children often get a Quirk that's completely different from their families on both sides. It's not very common, but at the same time, it's not very rare either. While it's not completely clear on what his Quirk is, it appears that he has the ability to shapeshift into a creature of sorts." He answers as the families look onward until Katsuki blurts out something.

"A creature, like Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu?" The five look at him before the doctor continues.

"Yes, it's something similar to Ryukyu's Quirk, and appears to be something akin to a dragon. Unfortunately, I'm not an expert in mythology, but I have a friend who does." Sako replies as his left hand digs into the pocket on his coat. He pulls out a card and hands it to Hisashi that reads: Professor Denshou of Japanese Mythology Museum.

"You can go in and see Izuku now if you want, but the hospital closes around ten o'clock just to let you know." He opens the door as everyone piles into the room slowly. Izuku is on a deathbed, breathing heavily as his face is flushed red with beads of sweat dripping down his forehead. He's wearing a hospital gown with the bed sheets covering his tiny body. Inko and Hisashi sit on one side while the Bakugos sit on the other. Katsuki grips the bed's bars in worry as Inko places her hand over Izuku's.

"You're going to be okay, you're going to be just fine Izuku." She mutters as Hisashi rubs his wife's shoulder once more. Katsuki keeps looking over and trying to stand on top of his chair to get a better look of Izuku, only for Masaru to grab a hold of him and put him on his lap.

"He'll be okay, Katsuki, we just have to wait tomorrow."

"But tomorrow's in… twelve more hours." He whines after looking at the clock on Izuku's nightstand and counting the amount of hours in his head. Mitsuki once again rubs the top of his head.

"Katsuki, we're all worried. But, if we hope that Izuku will wake up sooner, he will."

"Really?"

"Really." Mitsuki and Masaru smile at their son as he glances at Inko and Hisashi who also give him reassuring smiles.

"Okay."

Despite knowing it's to keep Katsuki calm and not stress out about Izuku, he still can't help but worry as he prays to Kama-san to help his best friend get better faster. Luckily, it seems Kama-san has heard his prayer as Katsuki felt time move by faster somehow. There were times where either he or an adult would go to the bathroom, and Mitsuki and Masaru offered to buy food so Inko, Hisashi, and Katsuki could watch over Izuku. Unfortunately, visiting hours have passed and Dr. Sako solemnly asked everyone to leave, assuring them that they'll send someone to watch over Izuku. With heavy reluctance, everyone left but not before Inko kissed Izuku's forehead and prayed that he'll wake up the next morning.

Despite going home at night and heading off to bed with heavy hearts, no one was able to sleep, especially Izuku's parents and Katsuki. Hisashi and Inko were happy that their son had developed his Quirk, but the fact that it put him in the hospital was jarring to say the least. Hisashi personally felt the heat coming off of Izuku, and even though he's rather resistant towards anything with heat in general, he couldn't help but flinch on how hot Izuku's body was. Inko might be fairing worse off than her husband as she couldn't even hold her own child due to the heat. She actually felt the heat from her son's body as though it was a hot summer day, even hotter than the actual summer break. However, as parents, they decide to put their fears aside and help their son in anyway they can once he wakes up. With that in mind, they finally went to sleep.

Katsuki kept staring at the ceiling of his room. He tiredly and trudged the entire way when he was cleaning up his room, as this was the same room that Izuku developed his Quirk, but instead of celebrating it, his best friend is in the ER at this moment. While he's rather excited about what his Quirk is and what it can do, he's still scared of what Izuku's newfound potential could be. He personally and literally felt how hot Izuku was as he put his hands on him in an attempt to comfort him, but he recoiled as though he put his hands on the oven in the kitchen. He could also feel the heat from a distance when he went back to get Izuku's parents and his own to help him. Katsuki wasn't sure what kind of Quirk Izuku actually has, and despite his fear for his brother, he decides to put it aside and help him once he gets better. With that in mind, he finally pulled the covers of his bed and went to sleep.

Everyone woke up the next morning and as Mitsuki and Masaru were getting breakfast ready, the former got a phone call from her best friend that Dr. Sako called that Izuku's fever finally broke and he woke up a few minutes ago. Upon hearing this, Katsuki grabbed his peanut butter and jelly sandwich with him and ushered his parents into the car. Mitsuki calmed down the eager child as the three headed their way to the hospital. Luckily, there was no traffic and they managed to arrive in ten minutes max. Even more luck is that they managed to find parking since there were so little cars at all, since it's rather early in the morning.

Katsuki pretty much bursted from the car despite Mitsuki and Masaru's warnings to look out for any vehicle coming his way. The boy didn't care, as he used his Quirk to explode his way to the elevator as quickly as he could. He made it to the elevator and began pressing the up button as fast as he could, and didn't stop until an elevator door opened. Mitsuki and Masaru barely made it in before the former scolds her child.

"Katsuki, you could've happened if you got hit by a car! You could've died like that!" She screeched as Masaru fought to regain his breath.

"I know, but there weren't any cars around and I want to see Izuku!"

"I know, but I doubt Izuku would want to see his best friend on a hospital bed would he?" The question makes Katsuki freeze and he thought of Izuku's reaction if that did happen. He would be devastated, and thinking about it made Katsuki remorseful.

"You're right, I'm sorry." He looked down in guilt though both his mother and father leant down with comforting smiles.

"Hey, we know you want to see Izuku, but at the same time you need to be careful with these things in real life too." Masaru gently lectures as Katsuki looks at his parents with a small smile until they hear the ring of the elevator, signalling that they've arrived at their destination. The three begin walking towards the desk to let the person in front know that they're here to visit room 205. Upon opening the door, they see Inko and Hisashi sitting beside Izuku. Unlike yesterday, Izuku's sitting upright with his hands on top of his blanket-covered knees. They turn their heads after hearing the door click as Izuku puts on the biggest smile he can muster.

"Katsuki!" He spreads his arm out wide as Katsuki smiles and races to his bed, using his Quirk to propel himself onto the bed. He immediately plunges himself into Izuku's arms as they wrap each other like blankets.

"Izuku! I was so worried about you!" the two boys continue hugging and rambling words to one another as their respective parents take in the heartwarming sight. Eventually, the two release as Katsuki excitedly rambles on about Izuku's newfound Quirk.

"Izuku, you finally got your Quirk!"

"I know, I can't wait to leave and see what it can do!"

"They said it's something similar to Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu's!"

"Wow, really! Do you think I'm going to become a dragon!"

"Not exactly but they said it's something similar!"

"So cool! Do you think-"

"Hey, hey, hey, I know you two are excited but please keep it down. We have other patients here and it's still rather early." A voice chuckled before gently scolding the two for their loud behaviors. Dr. Sako enters and closes the door as he walks in with his clipboard, Katsuki and Izuku shyly blush and lower their heads.

"Sorry, Dr. Sako." Said doctor merely laughs it off before bringing his clipboard up to his face.

"It's alright, it's pretty natural for kids to be ecstatic when they get their Quirk. But, we'll run some more tests to see if there won't be any more nasty surprises like the fever." He grimaces and so do the families, but he presses on. "Anyway, once we get the tests back, it'll only be around an hour and you'll be allowed to leave the hospital."

"Sweet! Oh, Izuku after this we're going to a mythology museum." The parents and doctor smiled and looked at each other, just one sentence is enough to get the boys in a talking frenzy about Quirks and heroes.

"Really?"

"Yeah, it'll help you learn what kind of creature you just turned into!"

"Cool, I can't wait!"

"Maybe you can turn into a dragon or a phoenix!"

"Phoenixes don't have bat wings, Katsuki!"

"Well maybe your's is a different version! But, we'll be the greatest hero duo the world's ever seen though!"

"That's true, we'll be the next number one hero and hero duo!"

"Yep, the Explosion Hero: Katsuki and Mythology Creature: Izuku!" Katsuki unintentionally let out explosions from his palms as he shouted that line.

"Yeah!" Izuku tried to do the same, but…

RIP!

The loud cloth-tearing sound filled the air as Izuku and Katsuki quelled their excited screaming as everyone's eyes widened. Upon tracing the source of the noise, they see Izuku's bat ears, wings, and thin tail sprouted out of his body. His hospital clothes now had tears from where they appeared. Izuku blushes as he rubs his head, his ears lowered, tail wrapped around him, and he gives out a little chuckle.

"Hehe… oops." Few seconds passed as Katsuki bursted out laughing at his best friend's accident though Mitsuki and Masaru gently chide him. Inko and Hisashi were also trying not to laugh at their son as Dr. Sako shook his head and went outside to get a new uniform. Nonetheless, it didn't stop Izuku and Katsuki's continuous banter as they continued talking about the possibilities of what the former's Quirk could be, only the wings and tail began flapping and wagging wildly now. The sight was so cute that Inko and Mitsuki couldn't help but take a few pictures of the scene.

Two days had passed after Izuku was released from the hospital as Hisashi and Inko set up an appointment to meet Professor Denshou about Izuku's Quirk. Despite his parents telling Katsuki's that they didn't need to come if they're too busy, they brushed it off as they wanted to know everything too and it wouldn't be nice to Katsuki if he didn't come along. Now, they're standing in front of the Museum of Mythology. It was a very tall building that looked like a traditional Japanese house, but the words clearly state its name. Izuku and Katsuki were looking at the building in awe as they strained their necks to take in the glorious sight of the architecture.

In front of the building was an elderly man that's in his late-40's with professor-style glasses, a lab coat, some pens and pencils in his pockets, his hair had a few white streaks in it and was combed backwards, wearing brown pants, and black sneakers. He saw the two groups of three and began walking down the steps to meet them.

"I see you're the ones who called, and these are friends I presume? Ah, and this is the little one with the dragon-like Quirk." He meets the Midoriya family while gesturing to the Bakugo family. They wave politely as Hisashi and Inko shake hands with the professor. He then leans down to meet Izuku, who shyly reaches for his mother's hand.

"Yes, this is Izuku. Say 'hello' to the man." Inko states as she holds her son's hand and tells him to greet the man in front of him.

"H-hello." He says shyly. Denshou chuckles before standing up straight and begins leading them inside.

"Shy one there huh? But, I welcome you all to Japan's Museum of Mythology." He opens the door and leads everyone inside. They take in the sight of tapestries depicting yokai ghosts and demons, paintings of Japanese and Chinese dragons, and statues of other creatures. Izuku and Katsuki fast walk around the museum, being careful not to run into one of the artifacts.

"Japan has many mythical creatures, but the most common are often demons and ghosts. Though, I doubt little Izuku's Quirk is anything like that. To narrow down the list of creatures we have in the museum, may I have the description of his Quirk's appearance?" Denshou explains as he leads the families around the museum, who continue taking in the sights of the many creatures that filled the inside of the building.

"Yes, though it's only brief but he had large bat-like ears, wings, and brown feet. He had green fur and blue scales covering his arms like fish. He also had fins on the sides of his face, and then there's that long, skinny tail with a leafy design at the end. There were also these black markings on his face that ran from the corners of his eyes to the corners of his mouth." Inko explained as Denshou began connecting the dots of Izuku's Quirked form. His eyebrows rose and his eyes widened before leading everyone to a different section deep inside the museum. As he directs everyone to a large doorway, the sign above them says, "Humanity's Guardian, the Creature of Peace, and the Undefeated Myth" .

After reading the sign, Izuku's eyes widened as he and everyone else took in the sight of a large statue in the middle of the room. The statue depicted a large spider with a woman's head laying flat on its back. Its stomach was torn apart as the eight legs of the monster appeared to be folding in on itself like a real dead spider would. On top of the monster was a four-legged chimera-like creature, it had the head and body of a cheetah but was much more muscular and the tail was thin and had a flat, fish-like tail at the end. It had large bat ears on its head with fish-like fins on either side of said head. A long fin sits on top of its forehead that continues from the back of the neck and ends with a larger fin in between the creature's shoulder blades and large bat wings. Surrounding both creatures were people cheering for the chimera as its head is pointing to the sky, its mouth opened, and is seemingly roaring in victory. The statue was a shining gold color and the ceiling lights empathized the brightness of said color.

"Is this the creature Izuku's form took?" Denshou decided to break the silence as everyone's attention is now turned to him.

"Not… completely, but it's close enough." Hisashi confirms as Izuku and Katsuki continue looking at the creature before they see a sign in the middle of the statue. As they begin reading the sign, Denshou continues talking.

"Then Izuku's Quirk might give him the ability to shapeshift into the Dumuren."

"Dumuren?"

"What's a Dumuren?" Katsuki and Izuku asked as they finished reading the sign and looked at the professor. He smiles as his face beams and raises an arm and points to the chimera.

"The Dumuren is a mythical creature that has the abilities of the cheetah, bat, and siren, as well as many other powers. I'm pretty sure you all read the sign before entering, yes?" Upon their nodding, he continues, "Then you know they've been given many titles but their most famous ones are the three: Humanity's Guardian, the Creature of Peace, and, my favorite, the Undefeated Myth! The Dumuren have protected humans against monsters that desired human flesh and blood, kept the peace in all the countries by using their abilities to solve conflicting problems, and are the most powerful creature to ever exist because no matter what monster the Dumuren faces, they always win!"

Everyone's eyes widened as they took in the information Professor Denshou unleashes on them about the Dumuren. Izuku was repeating the Dumuren knowledge until Katsuki nudged his shoulder. His best friend looks at him with a bright smile as he addresses the last title.

"You know, if the Dumuren is the strongest, undefeated creature in all the world, that makes it exactly like All Might!" With that information, Izuku's eyes widened even further as his mouth turned into a big smile.

"You're right, they are like All Might!" Their excitement is cut off by Denshou.

"Yes, the Dumuren are like All Might in terms of power and being undefeated." He states as he begins leading everyone around the statue. Scrolls and old drawings on ancient paper show more depictions of different types of Dumuren, ranging from battling monsters to making treaties with either people or peaceful monsters to aiding the people with their daily lives. Smaller status of Dumuren litter the area with coded writing labeled below them, like the main statue before.

"Though mythologists around the world are still researching the Dumuren, we do know this: they start off as a rookie or beginner status called Tyros and as they grow, they gain and master their abilities before gaining unique markings to show they've "graduated" from Tyros to Champions. They have elemental abilities, though they are shown to possess only one power. Being a creature of the said three animals, they are able to adapt and live in all said forms of life from the sea, land, and sky. Their fur can turn into hardened armor that's so powerful, only another Dumuren is strong enough to break it. Their wings are said to be indestructible, including the skin and bones, to ground a Dumuren you'd need to dislocate them or rip them right off their shoulder joints. Their "wing thumbs" are incredibly flexible and can straighten or even turn backwards. Their tail fins are able to turn a full 360 degrees and can be used as a tail blade, baseball bat, or even be prehensile. Stories say they also have the ability to change their size, from the smallest house cat to a size as big as a mountain they say. In fact, that statue itself has a story of its own: the spider monster called the Jorogumo, a creature that takes the form of a woman in order to lure people to her trap before revealing her true form and devours them. Legend says, the Jorogumo claimed the lives of five people in a village before she was caught and defeated by the Dumuren that was protecting the village. The Dumuren once again triumphed as it roared into the sky with the native people cheering it on."

Izuku and Katsuki's eyes continue to widen as they sparkle with all the new abilities and powers a Dumuren has and can use to their disposal. Inko and Hisashi also take in everything Denshou says as they look at Izuku with a sense of pride. Mitsuki and Masaru are also excited by what kind of hero team the boys could make when they go pro hero. Denshou continues listing Dumuren abilities that are either well-known or have been researched. The day progresses until it's the evening, the professor giving the Midoriya family a list of the creatures' abilities. According to him, the Dumuren's powers continue appearing as they grow older, and while Izuku isn't a Dumuren, his Quirk might follow up like the actual creature.

Nonetheless, Izuku and Katsuki were eager to find out what kind of powers Izuku will have in the future as the professor also hands them his contact info in case they have more questions regarding the Dumuren. After the eventful day, the families leave while waving goodbye to Professor Denshou as they head towards their respective cars. They planned on going out to dinner together for fun as Izuku and Katsuki continued mumbling plans as the future hero duo while their parents ordered them food. Everyone ate whole heartedly before leaving to go back to their respective homes.

Izuku's Quirk was named Dumuren Shifter after the whole debacle of fevers, creature transformations, and heat-based craziness. Izuku and Katsuki continued experimenting with Izuku's Quirk as it was true with what the professor said, Izuku's Dumuren abilities continued to show as he got older. Even though the professor didn't exactly say what abilities will show as they come when a Dumuren grows older, Izuku and Katsuki were able to check off the basic abilities before slowly going onto the more complex ones.

It took Izuku a few weeks of training to be able to transform into a Dumuren cub completely. His full form had him looking almost identical to the Dumuren statue back at the museum, just smaller and was in various different shades of green. And when he transforms into a Dumuren, one would think he'd ruin his shirts and pants all over again, but Mitsuki was a fashion designer so she took this problem into account. She solved it by making Izuku's clothing for him from now on by woving a special cloth that will sew itself back together when interacting with heat, and giving him clothing options that won't give him a lot of trouble like sleeveless shirts. After his Quirk appeared and how hot his body was during that incident, everyone thinks that his Dumuren elemental ability might be related to a heat-based power like fire.

However, that wasn't the case, after Izuku turned five he and Katsuki tried to see what kind of elemental ability Izuku had. It wasn't until Katsuki decided to practice long ranged moves with his Quirk that Izuku tried summoning any kind of attack. It didn't work until he accidentally sneezed and a long, purple beam of power and intense heat spewed from his mouth. Luckily, the targets they made were only a few broken pots and old branches on top of an old tree stump, but the attack from the Dumuren shifter not only destroyed the remaining targets, but completely incinerated the stump and left a huge burn mark on the floor. Right after that, Izuku and Katsuki began theorizing what kind of Element Izuku had.
