I poked my head out of the blanket fort after a while. Raiki hadn't returned to the play room. Was the storm over or had he been carried away by the fierce wind?
Kina frowned as she poked her head out beside me, her big eyes scanning the room with concern. "Do you think he's okay?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper, as if the storm might hear us.
"I don't know," I replied, feeling a knot of worry tighten in my stomach. "But we can't just stay here forever. Let's go check on him."
With a shared nod, we crawled out of the blanket fort, the soft cushions shifting beneath us as we emerged into the dim light of the playroom. The sun was starting to go down.
I had Kina stand back and slowly opened the door in case there was a large pile of sand waiting for us. Thankfully, there wasn't much but a dusting of sand. The city and the oasis around it looked fine, apart from a similar dusting of sand.
