I smiled as Kina ran off. Her brother and Raiki followed after her. It warmed my heart to see the children engaging with each other, especially after the heavy conversation we had just shared.
Although, Eijiro's body posture told me he was wary of Raiki. His eyes were narrowed on my son's back as if ready to pounce if the occasion called for it.
I raised my fan in front of me and sighed. If only there was a simpler way to do things. But this world rarely offered simple and clean solutions.
A pair of flashes crackled behind me. "Mission report," I whispered.
"Lady Amaya, unknown forces are heading this way from the northwest," Dengi said.
"Their attire is all white, making us suspect they're Kuroyuki forces, but their attire is suited for the desert," Romina said.
I hummed. The Kuroyuki usually liked to stay in their uniform. But, this environment was unkind to their powers with all the heat weakening their ice and water mana.
