Those soldiers hauled me up the ropes, my injured leg screaming in protest. I clawed at the rock walls, desperate to stay behind, but the soldiers were too strong. As I reached the top, I saw Laila huddled on the forest floor, sobbing uncontrollably. The other soldiers were securing the ropes, preparing to move out.
"Dafa!" I screamed, my voice raw with grief and desperation. "We have to go back!"
One of the soldiers, a young man with kind eyes, knelt beside me. "I'm sorry, Miss," he said, his voice gentle. "But there's nothing we can do. It's too late."
"No, it's not!" I insisted, tears streaming down my face. "We can't just leave him there! He saved us!"
"He knew the risks," the soldier said, his voice firm but compassionate. "He made his choice. And now, we have to honor that choice by getting you and Laila to safety."
