CHAPTER START---

Sitting cross-legged in the grass atop the hill, Oberon focuses his Magic Energy through his body, feeling the painful sting of the wind touching the open wound on his chest as he tries to heal it.

"Will you be alright to walk back?" Oberon asks, eyes still closed.

A few meters away, Wayne was standing with his arm in a crude sling, his other hand was outstretched and releasing a glowing purple rope from its palm, which had the now unconscious mercenary woman tightly wrapped in it.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Wayne asks as he looks over at Oberon, seeing the large wound on his chest healing at a visible rate. "What the hell!? I thought that Magic was lost!"

"It is," Oberon says. "This isn't Healing Magic; just a little trick I can do for myself. Sorry, it doesn't work on others."

"Even if it did, I doubt you have the energy for it," Wayne says as he notices Oberon's wound is only healed to the point of being fleshy and pink, the upper layers of skin still missing. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's get out of here," Oberon zips up his jacket to cover his chest, only to wince as the fabric touches his new and hypersensitive skin. "Yeah I need a nap, so let's go meet up with Rahul…"

---2 Hours Later…

Sitting in a fine restaurant after getting cleaned up, Oberon is enjoying a simple meal of rice, roasted duck, and vegetables.

Across from him, Rahul is enjoying a drink and his own meal, observing the boy carefully.

"You know, you're certainly the perfect kind of person to work for us," Rahul says. "You're all about the job, no-nonsense, fast and efficient work. We certainly pay much better than Wizard Guild jobs, how about it?"

"Sorry but, Master Makarov is the best at Light Magic so I need to keep learning from him," Oberon says. "Plus, they've been really nice to me at Fairy Tail, I can't just leave."

"I see, loyalty. I can respect that," Rahul says. "But I hope you understand, I simply had to ask, it would be a betrayal to our company if I didn't."

"That's ok," Oberon says as he continues eating.

"So, about your payment, would you prefer I hand it to you in cash right now?" Rahul asks. "Or I can send it to the Guild's bank account, then they can take their cut and give you the rest."

"Send it to the Guild please," Oberon says. "I don't like going to the bank so that's always easier, even if it takes a few days to get into my account."

Rahul sits back and observes Obeorn for a moment, "You really don't care about anything but Magic huh…"

"Is that so strange, I am a Wizard after all," Oberon says as he finishes his food.

Rahul laughs, "Kid, there is a lot more to life than being a Wizard."

Oberon looks at him as if he just said the most stupid thing ever, and Rahul only laughs harder.

"Well, I should get going, thank you for the meal," Oberon says as he gets up from the table.

"It was my pleasure," Rahul says. "I'll keep your name in mind if I ever need a Wizard."

"Thank you, I appreciate it, have a good day."

"You too kid," Rahul says as Oberon leaves the restaurant.

Oberon checks his watch, seeing that it's almost 5 PM, and rushes through the main street to the small Magic Shop in this city.

Getting to the shop, Oberon quickly enters, looking around to see a similar setup to the Magic Shop in Magnolia, with Enchanted Magic Cases protecting the items on display.

Oberon looks around the small shop for a moment, not seeing anything particularly interesting, only a few Lacrimas for regular people to use, allowing them to accomplish simple tasks like watering plants or having a light source.

Eventually Oberon makes his way over to the counter where a man was leaning forward reading a magazine.

"Hi," Oberon says.

"Well, hello there. Did you see something you like on display?" the man asks, gesturing to the cases Oberon seemed most curious about.

"Not really, but I'm looking for three specific items," Oberon says.

The man pushes his magazine aside and gives Oberon his full attention, "Alright, what are you looking for?"

"Well, the first would be Gale-Force Reading Glasses," Oberon says.

"Oh, which version do you want?"

"Uh, there are multiple versions?"

"Yes, and they each cost a different price," the man says. "The standard version lets you read twice as fast, above that are the x18, x32, x64, and if you head over to one of the big cities like Crocus you may be able to get a x120 version. They each require the same minimal Magic Energy to be used but the enchantments set them apart."

"I see, is that the only difference?" Oberon asks.

"That's the only one," the man gestures to the glass case behind him, higher up on the wall where the classes and their prices are.

"Ok, I'll take the x64 version," Oberon says. "Can I try it out?"

"After you pay for it, sure," the man says.

Oberon quickly pays for it, feeling a large dent in his wallet as he does so before the man hands them over.

He eyes the glasses curiously, a pair of thick elongated Lacrima Glass lenses held in thick black frames with small wings at the side, marked 'x64' on the left side.

"Here, try this," the man slides his magazine over to Oberon who looks at it after putting on the glasses.

He pours just a drop of his Magic Energy into it.

The man immediately takes a step back, sensing the unexpected and absurd amount of Magic Energy within Oberon, only now realizing that until now he hadn't been able to sense the boy's Magic Energy at all.

The enchantment on the glasses activates and a Magic Circle appears between the glasses and the magazine, projecting light onto the magazine and making copies of the words float into the Magic Circle as the pages flip on their own.

"Alright that's enough," the man says as the store begins to tremble.

Oberon immediately stops, allowing the man to relax.

"If you've got that much Magic Energy but can't control it, then I recommend you be extra careful with Magic Items and where you use them. You could break the item if you keep going like that, or break whatever unfortunate store you happen to be in."

"Oh, sorry," Oberon bashfully rubs the back of his head.

"What's your name anyway?" the man asks as he fishes behind the counter for something.

"Oberon, I'm a Wizard from Fairy Tail."

"Fairy Tail, that rowdy bunch, well I suppose that makes sense," the man places a glasses case on the counter. "On the house, since you bought the most expensive version I have. Now, what were the other items you wanted?"

"Oh, right, do you have any Celestial Spirit Keys?" he asks while placing the glasses in the case and pocketing it.

"Sorry kid, those things are super rare so we don't really get them in small cities," the man says. "Honestly you'd have better luck going to auctions, but from what I figure, most of those keys are more like collectors items since Celestial Spirits Mages are so rare most of them have gone decades without being used."

"I see," Oberon sighs, disappointed. "I was hoping to stockpile some until Master Makarov allowed me to learn that Magic, but I guess I'll have to keep looking."

"Maybe I can help you with the last item."

"Right, a Communication Lacrima," Oberon says.

"Easy," the man quickly retrieves a Communication Lacrima, identical to the ones belonging to the Guild. "But if you're a Wizard taking these on missions can be costly, these things are super fragile. Also, I don't recommend using it until you can control your Magic Energy better, otherwise you'll break it."

"I see, well I'll keep it safe until then," Oberon says as he pays for the Communication Lacrima. "Is there anything else you have that might be useful for a Wizard?"

The man thinks for a second, "I've got lots, but most people tend to overlook the simple things, like this," he takes out a ring with a small blue Lacrima Crystal as the face of it.

"A Magic Ring?"

"Yeah, but it can't do anything useful in combat, this was made from a leftover fragment of a Water Lacrima, pour some Magic Energy into it and you get a little drinking fountain, which means you'll never go thirsty on longer Jobs."

"Ohh, that's pretty useful," Oberon says. "Yeah, I'll buy that too…"

After leaving the Magic Shop he rushes over to the train station and barely gets onto the train in time. He easily finds a set of empty seats and takes out his card, retrieves his journal, and stores his new items within the card.

As the train begins pulling away from the station Oberon begins writing the events of this mission into his journal, after which he takes out his Magic Journal, in which he records his exploration of his Magics.

Here he spends the entire train ride to Magnolia studying and trying to better understand his new spell, Cosmic Armor.

As he's writing he looks outside to see the sun setting and relaxes for a moment, wincing slightly as the fabric of his jacket touches the sensitive flesh of his chest.

"It'll be winter in this region soon, so I should get a new jacket," Oberon sighs and stores his items away, realizing his brain is simply too tired for any more studying. "Six weeks and everything is so different now, never would have guessed."

So he watches the sunset in the distance while returning to his new home…
