Chapter 1 - The Flicker of a Flame

'BOOM!!' A figure crashed through a wall and rolled down the stone stairs of the imposing castle.

 "Cough! Cough!!... fuuuck!!!"

* Step * A foot stepped up next to the defeated man, its owner casting a looming shadow foreshadowing his demise.

"Why'd you do it?" A low but commanding voice came out from the standing figure its horns and glowing red eye adding another layer of pressure to the one below him.

The Horned figure watched as the one below him struggled to make a word but even that pitiful sight only sought to fan the last vestiges of reason within him as he slowly placed his foot on his chest.

"Wait!!" Another voice desperately shouted from the bottom of the ruins of the palace. The demon didn't even raise its head as he slowly tried to merge the man below's chest with the concrete.

"Save your breath hero... It will not change much anyway. His life was forfeit from the moment he chose this path." The hero paused, silence flowing between them with the only sound being the dying figure's bones and gurgles as they were ever so slowly crushed to a paste.

A flame sparked from the Demon's foot and proceeded to devour whole the carcass of the one below, the flame slowly churning before turning into a vortex of fire as it completely disintegrated its prey.

But, soon after, that flame died out as well, revealing the downcast body of the demon that was left within.

A heavier silence grew between them as the hero watched the demon gaze into the scorches with matted hair and a scarred body.

"Hero..." The demon's voice sounded again, his face still downcast

"I have one last thing to ask of you... "
