Elizabeth was already tired, as the entire team worked on the north side of the city. She was in charge of the south side alone. How long until this was over? She felt her spell alert her to her professor's arrival.
- "Great, I'll miss another big scene," - She thought, but as she did, she didn't notice that she had become distracted from what she was doing.
Green wake? Why did he helped her... She glanced sideways as Loki was on the ship. Why help a mortal? A simple Midgardian? Great question. Maybe she would demand an answer when the Asgardian was embedded in the ground by the Hulk.
She had managed to gather everyone in this sector; she had very little strength left. But she had to save them, right? Anyone would. With her last strength, she used her magic and put them to sleep, doing the same thing she had done to the rest of the city.
- "Fine, I can't take it anymore."
Elizabeth sat in a car, hoping it would all be over quickly. In the movies, battles lasted only minutes... she'd been saving people for about two hours, and exhaustion was not enough. She'd run out of strength to use magic and had very little left to continue the hand-to-hand fight. She was too short for these things, and she'd lost her weapon. And there, sitting on the edge of the car, she saw she'd had a nasty blow, one that would probably leave a scar.
-"So many scars never fade
This is the price of war
And we've paid with time
We'll fight till there's nothing left to say
Whatever it takes
Fight till your fears go away
The light is gone, and we know once more
We'll fight till we see another day."
There were no other people around, so I decided to head to the other side of the city. I saw the Avengers formed in a circle, - "Superhero pose on." - I watched them for a few seconds and then noticed the police officers on the streets.
- "Fuck, what's the point of taking out almost all the civilians if more come to "fix the situation" and "see what's going on?" - I shouted as I looked at some of them.
- "You're not going to turn into the Hulk, too, are you?" - Steve asked as he looked at me.
- "No, cap, those aren't my skills."
- "Too bad, we need as much help as possible."
- "So we can all stay in touch."
- "Good." - I put the device to my ear. - "How are you, gentlemen? Did you miss me?" - I said as I looked at Natasha and waved at her.
- "Why would I miss a little girl?" - Stark said in a funny tone. - "Does your father know you're here?"
- "You mean Fury?... I don't know. Maybe."
- "Okay then, gentlemen, we have to win this battle if we don't want Agent Fury to kill us for having his daughter in a fight."
- "Would you rather die in an alien invasion than be killed by Fury?" - I said doubtfully.
- "If only you knew," - Steve said.
- "She doesn't know what's going on around her," - Clint said.
While everyone was bewildered by the brunette's thought, they only came to one agreement in their minds: Win, no matter what. And that nothing happens to the "boss's daughter." Even Hulk had instilled "winning" in his mind. No one told the other, but they all knew it was the same thought. That, and showing the young woman that she was important to the director of SHIELD.
The fight continued. Elizabeth looked at them all; they were strong and followed everything she had seen. Thor began trying to block the portal, to keep the enemies out. Hulk was crushing, and everyone was fighting.
- "Tony... can you get me Hill?"
- "Yes, Jarvis, get her through."
When Hill's voice was heard, she spoke to her. - "Maria, tell me the council hasn't called Fury."
- "They already called him, they're talking."
- "Damn. It's fine, thanks."
- "What are you doing in the middle of the battle, Elizabeth? That's very dangerous." - A faint thought crossed Clint's mind: - "If Hill tells Fury, we're dead." - He just hoped the connection with the agent would be cut off.
- "Just like sitting back and doing nothing, Hill, dying in the fight, or dying from the invasion. Goodbye."
- "Great line, Eli. Did you practice with Cap?" - Stark said.
- "You'd better stay in the fight and focus. Something really bad happened to me for thinking about other things."
- "I'm curious to know what happened, but I don't think this is the time to ask, right?" - Clint said.
- "I'll tell you about it if you tell me about Budapest. Deal?"
- "I'll think about it, Elizabeth." - A laugh was heard.
- "Excellent, think it over carefully. I have a very good story." - It was a lie, right? I couldn't talk about the "green wake," or say that I'd slept halfway across New York.
I kept listening through the communicator until I heard the "and he didn't invite me." I have a picture of that... but how do I explain to Tony that I have a picture of him inside the armor, well, a picture of his face. I helped as much as I could by getting people out, and I saw Natasha and Steve talking. Now the Russian would have a new ride.
- "Captain, I think you're needed there. I'll go see how the portal works and see if we can close it," - I said.
Rogers would go to the bank to save the civilians, and while everyone was fighting, he would try to get to the Tower. Of course, I knew how to close it, but I couldn't just say it, right? I ran to the street where the tower was located and finally managed to get in. If I weren't so tired, I could have made a portal... in fact, I should have; this was more tiring. I saw Loki catch Barton's arrow and explode. A few moments later, I saw Natasha look up to see the portal.
Hulk managed to hit Loki; it was hilarious on TV. But she had to admit, she was a little scared when the God spoke to the strongman. After he threw him from side to side and said "weakling," her fear went away. She heard the Asgardian groan and started laughing.
This wasn't the time; everyone was in serious trouble right now. She stopped and went for the scepter, going to give it to Romanoff. The faster the better, right? She went upstairs and met up with the spy and Selvig. She greeted the man with a smile and spoke.
- "I brought you the solution to your problems." - I said, passing the scepter to the redhead. The professor began typing on the "computer." After speaking, she realized something... The faster the better? No, of course not. The missile would arrive any minute, and if they shut it down before then, everyone would die. Think about something, Eli, she thinks.
She only needed a minute. She closed Professor Selvig's computer with a little magic. The poor guy uttered a few words and had to retype everything, but Eli had already won this minute. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
- "Straight to the crown," - She said to Natasha.
- "I'm closing it. Does anyone copy?" - It seemed like it was hard for her; she wouldn't say anything... she was so tired she'd thrown herself to the ground. – "I can close the portal."
- "Do it."
- "No, wait." – Said Tony.
- "Stark, these things are still coming."
- "A missile is approaching, it'll explode in less than a minute." - At this point in the movie, I was dying of suspense. - "And I know exactly where I'll put it."
- "Stark, you know it's a one-way mission."
- "Save your energy for the return, Jarvis."
- "Sir, shall I call Miss Potts?" - He said in that voice while she was lying on the floor. She had left the spy and the professor upstairs to sit somewhere else. She couldn't hear what Jarvis was saying. Maybe only the man inside the armor could hear him. So, to keep track, she said it. Great tactic, right?
- "Why not?" - Stark said.
She saw Iron Man fly by through the window with the missile and enter the portal. The Chitauri lost their energy. And they collapsed. After a few seconds, everyone was on the ground.
- "Wow, Thanos will kill you, Loki." - I said, looking at the God who was still on the ground. - "How was he, 'weakling'?" Was it easy to conquer Earth?" – The communicator was heard.
- "You can do it, Stark." - Natasha said, while Elizabeth looked up at the sky from where she was. She had to stop because she wanted to mock the God.
- "Close it." - She saw the millionaire falling. She did.
- "He's not slowing down." - Thor said, but Hulk already had him. They ran to see him. He knew the next thing. - "He's breathing." - He saw Cap trying to listen to the heartbeat over the armor. - "Rogers, you need some urgent CPR and tech lessons." - Hulk screamed, and Stark woke up.
- "Where am I?" - He said. - "What happened? Please tell me you didn't kiss me."
- "Tony?"
- "We won," - Cap said between breaths.
- "Hooray, hey. Good work, guys. We don't have to come back tomorrow. Let's take the day off." - He stopped for a moment. - "Have you eaten shawarma? There's a shawarma restaurant about three blocks away. I don't know what it is, but I'm craving it."
- "This isn't over yet." - Thor replied.
- "And the shawarma afterward."
I took off the communicator. I didn't want them to hear what I was going to say to the God.
- "Well, Loki, they beat you. You didn't expect that, did you?" - I said. - "I'll tell you something. Humans are very stupid. They have wars among themselves, they don't accept anything different, and they struggle with change. They're quite inferior beings if you compare them to others." - I sighed. - "But that's also a good thing. They're so stupid that they'll fight battles that many wouldn't because they're "obvious defeats." They'll just go to fight; they'll sacrifice what they have for others. And the team you joined, although it's far from truly being "a team." They give everything for their loved ones. For their family." - I looked Loki in the eyes. - "I suppose you'd risk your life for Frigga, too, wouldn't you?" - The God just looked at me. - "Your mother loves you despite all your mistakes, and there are many. So, please, think about her a little."
- "That's all you have to say." - He said, trying to move.
- "Yeah, that's it... I don't know why you saved me, but I'm sure even you don't. So what's the point of asking?" - I turned around. - "The Avengers will be here soon, all at once. Good luck with them. I'll be lying on the couch."
I lay on Tony's couch for about five minutes, almost falling asleep. But the whole team had already arrived. I expected them to take longer; I needed a break. For her body and her mind. For everything, she uses too much power.
- "You were asleep, right next to the enemy."
- "Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer." - I blurted out.
- "You're crazy." - Clint told me. - "Almost as much as he is." - He pointed at Loki.
- "Yes, but I'm prettier, aren't I?"
- "I don't know, but you're..." - Clint started.
- "A woman." - Tony said.
- "And younger," - Captain said.
- "You're smaller." - Thor said.
- "I'm not that short, right?" - I looked at everyone, but they were laughing. - "Natasha? Not that short, right?"
- "I'll tell you the truth." - Clint said. - "You're like a keychain."
- "I hate you." - I turned around while everyone laughed, waiting for the God of Mischief to try to get up. I sat down where the alcohol is supposed to be served and stayed there.
A few minutes passed, and it seemed he was about to move. I raised my hand to the Avengers so they could see he was about to get up. And they came to him.
Was the Hulk going to hit really hard? Hard enough for a God to have such a hard time getting up? Or was it just Loki's exhaustion after being controlled by the scepter? Could she steal the God's cloak without getting weird looks? She should try.
