[Would you like to activate our virtual assistant, Nous?] read a screen that just popped up out of nowhere.
Without any hesitation at all, David selected 'Yes' and immediately the screen disappeared as everything went quiet. David could swear that he heard ancient chanting and drums beating as a large amount of mysterious green particles appeared out of nowhere.
The green particles began to slowly gather on the same table beside his bed; they formed a pair of stands and then began to build from there. The chanting and the drumming became even louder as the building continued, and soon David could tell exactly what the particles were building.
"Holy sh*t, I have my own Cortana!" David said as the green human's body was finally completed.
The green being that had just been created stood at a height of at most five (5) inches tall and dressed in a bodysuit, but covered it all up with a cloak. Looking at it even closer, David couldn't tell if it was male or female.
[Good day, Master. How may I be of help to you today?] A non-binary voice was heard for the first time in basically his entire life.
David heard a voice; he couldn't tell which gender it belonged to. The LGBTQ+ were on the rise, but one could easily tell which gender they belonged to or initially belonged to before they claimed to be something else. A non-binary male will sound male, and so will the females.
A homosexual male or female would sound like a male or a female, then there was the transgender group, which was where the confusion started; however, it was simple. A transgender male would sound male until a certain point in their transition; the same is true for a trans female.
Of course, there were the occasional exceptions where a male sounded like a female, but even then, the two main voice types were still there, just switched up. However, this A.I. had somehow generated a voice that belonged to neither side.
David couldn't tell exactly how impressive this was, but he knew that it was definitely impressive.
"Ah, yes, what do I call you exactly?"
[Nous, your Lordship]
"What's with the lordship, master? I get… lordship? What's with that?"
[You are my creator, hence my lord. In addition, Your lordship is an Editor] Nous replied
"An Editor? That implies there are others then… is it some sort of role or something and refer to me as sir, we are not in the medieval era"
[As you wish sir, Information about the existence of Editors is unavailable to me, however The position of an Editor is one that comes with great prestige and power… in modern terms you are one of the Systems Manager to the vast corporation that is the Multiverse]
"Wait… that means my ability isn't a special ability, it's a job perk?" David asked as he quickly realised what was going on
From what Nous had explained, the ability [Reality Editor] seemed to have come with a hidden Job title, it explained why there were tiers and also why he could only use the ability once a month.
He didn't have the clearance and also it was a job perk not a personal ability. Thinking about it now, he should have figured it out when the being who had given him such a power called itself "An Administrator"
"Something was telling me that the bastard definitely had an ulterior motive… what can you tell me about the event?" David asked
He had already been duped, there was no reason to continue to deal with it and besides the ability may be a job perk but then if a company gives you a company car, nothing is stopping you from using it for personal use… you just need to be careful in your usage.
[As the chosen Editor, I am unable to dispense such information to you as of yet.]
Hearing this, David immediately rolled his eyes. If the administrator could dupe him into becoming an Editor, whatever the job entailed, of course it will also disrupt him from acquiring information on the event that now he thought of, may as well be a test for him.
"I see, then how long do I have before the event starts? No, you probably wouldn't be able to answer that, how much preparation time do i have, give a few months to a year to the main event?"
[I am unable to dispense any information regarding this 'event', however I can telling that nothing extraordinary will take place till the end of the year]
"Thats four more months then, will it be like the manhwas or should i just throw away such assumptions"
[I cannot comment on that, however it would be best if you prepared for every situation you can think of].
"Okay, then, so I have four (4) months to prepare for what's to come, right?"
[Maybe... Maybe not]
"Any suggestions?" David asked.
Even though he was at a loss for words here, it told him to prepare for every situation but then just by his imagination alone, that made preparation completely useless.
In such a situation the best thing to do was to grow your personal power and that of those around you, this was the only way to ensure your survival and he just wasted his first ever edit to create an omniscient AI.
[No matter the means of your preparation, money is needed, hence i would suggest becoming wealthy first, only then can you have the power to achieve certain things]
Well the edit wasn't wasted, if not for Nous he would have being clueless, looking at the five inch tll figure on his side table, David released a sigh before reorganizing his thought.
"I understand, help me prepare a list of all industries that are performing well as of now" David said.
The AI was right, no matter wht type of preparation he wanted to make, he owuld at the end of the day need money to support his journey and besides as it said, the event may or may not start for another year or so… its all a gamble.
So if he was going to be waiting for an unknown time, wouldnt it be best to be doing so in a mansion or while sailing through the oceans on a super yacht.
[Here is a list of industries that are doing especially well during this quarantine.] Nous said as it brought up a screen, and on it were some names and how much they made monthly during this year compared to other months.
"Entertainment was the obvious answer, but damn! 3.2 billion dollars in just one month," David said, even though he could see that the number given was for the entire country of the United States of America alone.
Looking at the numbers displayed, David immediately knew where his next target should be,, however this wasnt the only way for him to make money.
There were still ilegal means as well, he oculd simply have Nous hack into the accounts of every millionaire on the planet and secretly withrdaw some money. $100 from every millinaire nd $1000 from every billionaire, it was such a small amount that they wouldnt even notice the money leave but for him when gathered, thats instant millionaire status.
Said amount was big enough to boost his wealth but small enough not to even be noticed by these people. Even if they do notice it, they may dismiss it easily, and if they do plan to push further, David doubted that they could catch the Omniscient Nous.
However, since he wanted to go through legal means, All he had to do was come up with a good idea, and Nous would surely sell it enough for him to become a millionaire through it.
Since entertainment was the most popular thing, he had to target the thing that everyone would surely spend money on: games.
Gamers were loyal, and if they loved your game, then they would surely pay. He could attest to that since even he paid when necessary. He was good at the game, but if you wanted to be better, you spend that cash.
Apart from that, there was also the initial sale, which would set up everything for the company. If the game's presentation and everything else were good enough, then people would flock en masse to buy it, and with that money, you could improve your game further.
"Nous, which industry... Do you suggest I enter?"
[Even with good marketing and all, the streaming industry is too saturated, and there is only a 40% chance of you getting as much money as you want through it. At least within these four months]
"I expected that," David thought, since between Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, and all the others out there, he would never be able to make his own streaming service stand out.
[However, the gaming industry is for all and honestly can never be saturated because it tries to satisfy people's desires; hence, I would suggest you pick this industry. With good marketing and a good game, you could create a company as big as the current big names in just four months]
