Chapter 91 - Transport

Carr started the car before driving to the first destination, which would be the start of the continued work that he would get from his client, Diablo.

The money being paid was more than enough to satisfy him, even if there were risks involved in the future.

The arrangement was quite simple.

It was to pick her up and transport her from place to place safely.

There could be times when there would be added danger involved if there was someone chasing them or something else going on, but most of the jobs would be kept as discussed.

They would be simple pick-up and drop-off jobs that would take her from one place to another.

If there was more to the job, then it would be that Carr would have to wait around to take her back from where she was dropped off or to come back for her.

If he were required to wait, then it would usually be at a safe location that could be accessed quite easily to allow a quick getaway.

Carr kept driving as he got her closer to her first destination.

The journey was quite long, but Tiffany was able to let the body of Diablo sit in the back seat without any issues.

She did not even have to be in full control of the body of Diablo all of the time, as she could just keep the body inactive in a seated position.

If she needed to check in on anything, then she could just transfer her consciousness back to the body of Diablo.

She spent some time in her main body until she was closer to her destination.

The scenery changed as there was a small, rundown flat in a destitute part of the city.

Inside the flat was a young woman who had several collectable figurines on her shelf.

Her appearance could not be seen too clearly, but she was seated in front of a computer screen in the dark.

Her knees were up to her chest as she was seated a little awkwardly, and she was dressed in oversized clothing.

The surroundings around her were quite untidy, as if she had not tidied up in quite some time.

Bags were under her eyes, as it showed how she got little sleep and was probably living an unhealthy lifestyle.

It looked a lot like she did not take very good care of herself, and that she probably did not get out much.

Music was playing quite loudly on the headphones that were on her head, and she was wearing a cap that made it even more difficult to see her face.

She did not even notice as there was some noise coming from nearby, as there was a banging on her front door.

It went on for quite some time until one of the figurines that was on one of the above shelves suddenly fell near her.

She was shocked by it falling, so she took off her headphones and looked to see if it was damaged.

The noise coming from the door started once more, causing her to be able to hear it that time.

She cautiously moved toward the door and looked through the eyehole to see who was there.

She saw someone standing outside the door who did not seem like they would be leaving anytime soon.

It was almost like they were prepared to wait things out until she answered the door or returned to the building if she was out.

What she did not know was that the person who had been waiting outside was the very person who had caused her toy to fall from the shelf.

Tiffany took control of the toy to check if she was in her home, and after confirming that there was still no response from banging on the door, she decided to take another approach, which resulted in the present situation.

The door slowly opened, but the chain latch remained on the door, so it did not open all of the way.

It seemed like the girl was quite cautious about answering the door to others, but it was to be expected for anyone who lived in a rougher neighbourhood.

Opening the door to any stranger could invite all kinds of troubles into their own home, where it was supposed to be their safest place.

She peered outside through the small gap in the door. "Who is it? What do you want?"

The figure standing outside was the body of Diablo that Tiffany was controlling.

Once the door had been opened slightly, she started talking with the setting on her voice modulator that had been altered again to a different setting. "You must be Gwen. I am here about a potential opportunity for someone of your capabilities.

I employ and work with all kinds of people, giving them opportunities to support themselves, especially those who have certain special conditions that make things more difficult for them. Would you care to give me a little of your time?"
