Chapter 20 - Progress and Bonds

After they were done with their Taijutsu Training, Itamo Oba ushered Kajirama and his friends back to their classroom.

The students weren't that tired from their Taijutsu Training since it was only a friendly spar with each other. It didn't take long after a few minutes of a short break Itamo Oba began his lecture about chakra and it's other applications.

Kajirama was thrilled to hear that, it was one of the subjects he was fond of above all. However, his excitement died down after their teacher discourse knowledge that Kajirama already had read the information of so far.

Kajirama shook his head before his mind wondered elsewhere and thought about his current strength.

His Kenjutsu had been smooth sailing from the past two months or so he had been training on the art, he had scourged through his grandparent's library to see if there are any scrolls that contained more advanced katas than the ones he was training as his foundation. Hiruzen no longer acted surprised when it came to his love for knowledge, so the old man had allowed his grandson to read upon a few scrolls that were part of his collection. He knew Kajirama was in every way a prodigy when it came to the various art a Shinobi has to offer, well, the art that interested him at most. He had chosen a style which he had found to his liking, the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū [Flying Heaven Govern Sword-Style], a Kenjutsu technique that was invented before the founding of shinobi villages, which meant it was created on the times of the Warring States Era. The instance he found the description of this style, Kajirama's inner childishness was ignited. The reason for that, was because of how awe-inspiring it was detailed as such, according to the scroll that contained the Kenjutsu style - Rooted in the concept of ichi no tachi[To strike in a single blow], it was said that practitioners of this style use a combination of immense speed and agility, battōjutsu[Drawing Technique], and acquired, observation-based pseudo-clairvoyance that permits a practitioner to anticipate an opponent's movements. Both offensive and defensive maneuvers are executed with minimal movement to increase a practitioner's ability to counter-attack and to conserve energy. As such, made with efficiency and spareness of exertion in the face of warfare scale battles yet with powerful and coordinated movements to easily fell threats in long and undetermined periods of time, when Kajirama asked Hiruzen about this, he had said that it was among one of the strongest and oldest kenjutsu styles in in this period of time, once known as the signature style that defined a great samurai in the Tetsu no Kuni[Land of Iron] on the Warring States Period.

The style commonly has the user keep one hand on the sheath at all times and stresses two-step attacks to ensure that the practitioner is never off guard while executing said attacks and allows the user to use the sheath as a shield to block attacks. Practitioners are also trained in honing their senses and to recognize movement, as well as to react in kind with their opponent's emotional disposition to efficiently fend them off accurately, a process in short that can be called 'utilizing one's chakra' or the internal way of the samurai/shinobi arts, allowing the practitioner to dynamically flow in turn with their opponent's own chakra and use their own pace against them. Arguably, its most well-known trait is the surreal speed practitioners of this style use in battle known as Shinsoku[Godspeed], allowing the user to accelerate, maneuver, and strike at speeds most eyes are unable to properly follow, barred this that possess a Dōjutsu. This allows the user to close considerable distance in seconds and strike down enemies before they can react.

Nevertheless, no matter how amazing the technique sounded, it was said that one needed to work hard to fully showcase the potential it was described on the scroll, the requirements for said technique are also pretty demanding of a practitioner's chakra control, instincts, and the katas, stances of the style, etc. Hiruzen even informed that even the inventor himself, the great samurai from Tetsu no Kuni [Land of Iron] failed to really bring out about the technique he created himself. This evidently displayed how difficult it was to master or even get through the fundamentals of the style. After he had decided to train under this Kenjutsu style, Kajirama was tutored by his father and occasionally Biwako or Hiruzen to help with his body conditioning and to improve his strength and stamina to have Kajirama started on the next few levels of the technique. Since then, he had put more focus on his Kenjutsu, that he had not much time to practice his Ninjutsu, however, there was a reason for that and that was:

He had mastered the C-rank fire style jutsu he was taught by Biwako though it took him a little while to fully get it down, furthermore, Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu[Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique] which he was taught by Obito after their bet was also now mastered by Kajirama. Afterwards, he just found a wind style jutsu that just fitted him, courtesy of a certain Jiraiya. Currently, he knew two fire style and one wind style jutsu's while his friends, Obito had knew two fire style jutsus, and Rin mastered one water style jutsu and another one which she was still trying to learn. You may wanted to ask why she happen to know any of this? Well, Kajirama was considerate enough towards his only female friend to act sneakily under his grandparents' noses, in short, he 'burrowed' them from his grandfather's, not so secure, collection of scrolls.

His chakra control training with Biwako continued and was surprised at the same time elated when Jiraiya got involved as he decided that since Hiruzen was teaching and providing him his Kenjutsu lessons and Biwako his chakra control, he would teach his son taijutsu specifically, since it was one of his specialties.

Jiraiya had tried to show him the toad style taijutsu but he quickly found it just did not fit his son's style at all. So instead, he began showing him the Taijutsu style his late mother had left for Jiraiya, the Savage Vengeance Fist. Even though Jiraiya did not use it himself, he was familiar with it since Anzu Sarutobi, his wife, was one of his close comrades back when the Second Shinobi World War had started till it ends.

While it was not perfect for him, Kajirama made it work, plus Jiraiya had been adjusting small parts of the style to help fit him. Although Kajirama showed no aptitude for the toad style, much to Jiraiya's chagrin, Jiraiya decided to entwine the two styles together and create something completely new.

They didn't have a name for it yet but Kajirama knew it had to be something awesome. And when it came to Taijutsu, Kajirama was learning quickly as well, once again showing that being a bookworm and being hard working was already paying off for him.

Kajirama's brown pure eyes glanced to the side, to see Rin fully concentrated on the lecture. Then, he glanced the other way where his uchiha friend sat and he let out a soft sigh from his lips hearing him snoring.

Well... Obito was, Obito.

"Kajirama, pay attention," Rin said elbowing him in the side jogging Kajirama back to attention.

"Right, right, sorry." Kajirama whispered back as Rin shook her head at her friend's habit of letting his mind wonder.

Kajirama once again focused in from as he paid close attention to their teacher and what he was discussing to the class though he had noticed that most of it Biwako had already covered in his training with her, or he had read about sometime ago.

"I don't think the academy is all it is cracked up to be." He thought to himself as he shook his head and tried to drown out his teacher's voice.

The violet haired girl next Kajirama and his two friend's table saw his lazy form and the look on his face, which elected her to cover her mouth to stop herself from giggling.

"Young lady is there something you wish to say to the class?" Their teacher's voice suddenly sounded out, who looked like he did not enjoy being interrupted while all student eyes fell onto the purple haired girl. The girl blushed a little as she whistled while looking sideways after she replied:

"Urm, no sir; sorry sensei."

"Well then Miss Mitarashi please try and keep any comments of noises to yourself." He said before he continued with his teachings.

Nodding she fell quiet as the rest of the class fell back to listening to their sensei; everyone except Kajirama who had turned his attention to Anko.

"What were you laughing at?" He asked since he had heard her giggle from beside him.

"I was laughing at you. You had a funny look on your face and made me laugh." She said as Kajirama's eye shot up in surprise before internally he grinned.

"You mean expressions like this?" He asked before he began pulling multiple different faces towards Anko who was turning red and had to cover her mouth with her hands.

Their sensei never saw any of this as Kajirama pulled funny faces at Anko who looked ready to burst out laughing. Next to him Rin rolled her eyes though she sported half a smile on her face as she watched her friend act that way.

Kajirama had a energetic and yet serious character, most of the time. He had moments where a more fun loving personality took hold of him though.

From the front middle row Akio Inuzuka saw what he was doing and laughed into his hand as well, thinking that what he was doing was very hilarious. Sitting besides the Inuzuka was Asuma and Kurenai, who noticed their friend's shaking body, they looked over Kajirama's way and saw the antics he was doing.

"Isn't that a relative of yours... Asuma?"

While at the back row the pineapple haired Nara and the fatso Akimichi laughed as well.

...

-End of the Day-

At the end of their first academy day, most of the children went home to their parents so they could tell them all about the great first day and what they had learn.

Everyone except for a group of ten children that is; Kajirama, Rin, Obito and their new friend Kakashi were once again training with each other in the same opening in the forest as before, while Kakashi was eyeing the clearing with curiosity, noticing some burnt marks of a few wooden dummies that were amateurishly erected and destroyed trees. The other six had followed them after school to see what they were doing.

The six were none other than Akio Inuzuka, Ensui Nara, Shitō Akimichi, Anko Mitarashi, Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai Yuhi.
