Chapter 22 - Solved! - Training w/ Anko

Biwako had just finished preparing dinner and was about to pass by Kajirama's room when she noticed that it was open. She peeked through the wide gap curiously and saw that her grandson was preoccupied about something.

Kajirama was still a child, no matter how much he trained in various physical activities, there are still a bit of baby fats on his face. Biwako saw that his forehead was wrinkled and his eyes were fixated on a scroll, she noticed a few crumbled papers that were formed on to a ball, which were carelessly laying all around on the floor besides Kajirama's mattress. It didn't take much for a seasoned shinobi like Biwako to roughly understand what Kajirama was doing.

'It seemed that my grandson had encountered a problem with his Fuinjutsu studies.' Biwako thought with a smile. Not having anything to do, Biwako stayed outside Kajirama's room as she watched over her grandson with a bit of interest. She was wondering how far he had gotten on the hardest shinobi sub-style to learn.

At that moment, Kajirama was motionless like the statue of the Hokage Stone Monument. The ink on the brush in his hand had dried up but the child seemed to not notice it, as his gaze was fully focused on the scroll.

Biwako knew a bit of Fuinjutsu herself, she was interested what got her grandson so focused and conflicted on which she deduced from his expression. She might not be on the ranks of a novice, but she was knowledgeable enough on how to counter or escape from a Fuinjutsu expert in battle, which she learned from her experience as a kunoichi in her prime days.

Biwako couldn't stop herself from opening the door quietly as she moved over Kajirama's shoulder to peer over the problem he was facing.

Almost from one glance, she was able to tell that Kajirama was solving the layouts of the sealing technique – Explosive Tag, she was able to tell from how familiar the diagram looked from the one she knew of. Furthermore, although Kajirama's solution was identical to what she knew, there was a missing Kanji right at the center, which was where one usually channel chakra on to trigger the technique.

Of course, she knew what the Kanji was since she had seen it countless times already, however, she didn't disturb her grandson since she knew a fact that Fuinjutsu practitioners are quite... unusual in their work. Besides, as early and recent Kajirama had studied the art, he needed the experience and development that came after that to further grow as a Fuinjutsu practitioner. A fledgling wouldn't be able to fly immediately after hatching after all.

Kajirama was so engrossed on his wildly running thoughts that he wasn't aware his grandmother had appeared behind him.

While still unbeknown of the middle-aged woman towering behind his sitting posture, Kajirama began making an assumption to the final Kanji seal for the Kibaku Fuda [Explosive Tag]. He put his thumb and index finger habitually on his chin as he thought out loud, continuing his line of thinking. "If further stabilizing the Kanji 'compressed' and the inside nature of 'fire' with the neutral natures of the Kanji 'turtle' on top of the volatile 'nitroglycerin' ended with a failure in the computation, then what the heck could make a Fuin Jutsu explode that could amalgamate it into a secure product for a shinobi to use?"

Kajirama had a nature of being overly sensitive on his handiworks, always thinking and redoing the things he finishes – like his homework for example, he couldn't for the life of him make mistakes on anything that was under his responsibility, not that the said homework was difficult as the curriculum in his year weren't hard. He was also sensitive to the part where; his work could potentially harm another person which was why his thoughts were partial over the Kanji that weren't too intense, like the Kanji for 'turtle' that would stabilize the other composition of the technique...

'Wait a minute.' As his mind reached that notion, Kajirama sensed that he was doing something wrong with his internal self-expression. "Could it be that it's because of me being adamant on having the composition more stabilize and neutral that the calculation was incorrect?" It wasn't that the young Kajirama didn't dare to use the other side of the more intense Kanjis for the solution, it's just that he hasn't thought of them...

"The purpose of the Kibaku Fuda [Explosive Tag], as the name implies, is to burst out in a violent manner, with that lane of concept, then the trigger point for the sealing jutsu might be... the command Kanji of 'explode'." When he reached that conclusion, Kajirama felt like slashing himself with his o-wakizashi. He slapped his forehead exasperatedly. "It's so obvious!" He was still dipping his head towards where his notes are laid out, which made him not notice the smirking Biwako behind him.

Kajirama immediately got into action in the result of his reflection, he calculated the technique once again, this time he adds the formula for 'explode' as the trigger point for the chakra flow.

After a few minutes, his eyes lit up with cheerfulness, as if he was given the most beautiful thing in the world. Kajirama was thrilled as he jumped up and shouted:

"I did it! It was finally right!"

Although it was only a minor problem for any real practitioners of the art, Kajirama still got a sense of fulfillment for solving the problem himself, without peering on to the answers which was laid borehand on the next few pages. Which he checked, to verify his calculations if it was correct, and his smile widened when it was so.

"Well done, Kaji-chan." The voice of Biwako suddenly sounded out behind the six-year-old Kajirama, which took him by a surprise.

Kajirama turned around as fast as the wind, he revealed a confused expression at first before he asked. "Oba-chan, what are you doing here?"

Biwako smiled as she ruffled her dear grandson's eye-catching white hair, which were beginning to grow quite long now without trimming for so long. "I was about to call you and Asuma-chan for dinner, but you seemed to be busy over something so I peeked over what you were doing."

"Oh, okay." Kajirama nodded, still feeling quite elated from the positive outcome of his Fuinjutsu studies. But then, he thought of something as he glanced at his grandmother. "Don't do that ever again, Oba-chan. The research of a Fuinjutsu practitioner is for their own personal studies only." While saying those words, he tidied up his notes that were on the floor, Biwako noticed that there seemed to be haste in Kajirama's movements, and judging from his expression, he seemed to be quite displeased.

Biwako Senju chuckled softly, she had almost forgotten how protective and private the practitioner of the obscure art could be on their research, and how much they hated for someone to take a look at their notes. She couldn't forget the stories of her husband, of where the old man insisted on peering over his student's shoulder when he wrote his notes out of curiosity, and the end of it almost resulted on the Hokage's jaw being broken. She also heard stories of a certain red-haired woman and a blonde Namikaze, about what they did to anyone who dared to peek on their notes without permission – she was informed from one of Hiruzen's students – Tsunade Senju, that those unfortunate fellows stayed at the Shinobi Hospital because of the injuries they got from either of the alleged duo. Biwako mentally noted herself to warn Kajirama's friends about proper conduct of privacy for fuinjutsu practitioners.

She showed an apologetic expression, and sincerely said. "I'm really sorry Kaji-chan. I haven't seen and heard much since I had entered your room a short while ago." She knew that even if they were close kin, she wasn't exempted on the list of people Kajirama didn't want to see his notes on, no matter how basic and trivial his research was at the moment.

Kajirama now felt bad somewhat when he heard her say that, but still, his words still stand. "It's alright Oba-chan, as long as you wouldn't do it again."

Biwako smiled at the child as she carefully held his hand on to her own. "Although I just enetered your room for just a little while, I can tell you're a budding prodigy in fuinjutsu, Kaji-chan."

Kajirama preened under the praise. "Really!?" He beamed.

"You have grown to be quite the knowledgeable child, Kaji-chan..."

"Heh heh... I read a lot." Kajirama admitted not to modestly.

"Ah yes, you do quite a lot..." Biwako nodded as she eyed Kajirama dottingly. "Let's go get Asuma-chan and have dinner together like always."

"Mhm." Kajirama nodded casually since it was a normal thing for them to eat dinner together. Kajirama had a sudden thought of something. "Oba-chan, there's a female classmate coming over tomorrow for training, is it alright for us to use the training ground of the clan's compound?"

"Hm?" Biwako blinked. "Is it gonna be Rin-chan?" She knew Rin since Kajirama often hang-out with her and Obito Uchiha, they were the first friends Biwako saw Kajirama was bonding closely with so she first thought of them when he asked permission for the training ground.

Kajirama shook his head in denial while his hand was still grasped by Biwako as they headed towards Asuma's room. "It's someone you didn't know, her name's Anko Mitarashi."

"Oho?" Biwako's eyes flashed a mysterious light as he mumbled something under her breath. She showed a smile. "Then it's alright. You can bring her here, when will she arrive?"

"Tomorrow morning."

"Then I think I'll have to prepare another plate of breakfast for our guest early tomorrow."

Kajirama smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Oba-chan. Anko will definitely be glad to taste your wonderful cooking."

Biwako chuckled softly as they arrived at Asuma's room. They called for him and got to the dining room together, Kashin was already there, preparing the utensils for their dinner. After they sat on their seats, they began eating while humorously chatting among themselves.

[The next day.]

Anko was patiently waiting at The Hideout, feeling quite bored and the young girl was still feeling a bit sleepy. She was currently sitting down on a tree branch while swinging her legs as she waited for Kajirama. Her light-brown eyes stared at the rising sun that was slowly coming up. Even though it wasn't nearing the peak of its brilliance, the morning beautiful rays of the sun encompassed the whole area as far as Anko's eyes could see.

She still couldn't get used to how pretty the view from this place was whenever this occurs every early morning, which implies she clearly look at the scenery here very often by herself. She was an orphan; however, it wasn't used to be like this, she has a family too, a mother and a father, like the other kids her age have. However, something unfortunate happened to them, and she could barely even remember how they look like now since they passed away when she was extremely young. Still, even if fate turned her life into something like this, even if she cried numerous times out of loneliness and longing for her parents, she wanted to make them proud as their daughter - which was why she possessed the dream of becoming a powerful kunoichi one day, although it was a standard sort of a dream coming from a child her age like any other, she was endowed with the dedication and hardheadedness to make it happen.

Anko Mitarashi didn't know what to think when Kajirama invited her to train together at his clan's compound yesterday, nonetheless, she felt... an unusual emotion of expectancy and excitement she had never felt before. She was honestly looking forward towards what sort of training they will be doing and from what she heard of from Obito and Rin, Kajirama had taught, or given the two each a cool jutsu – Katon: Hо̄senka no Jutsu [Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique] taught to Obito, and Kirigakure no Jutsu [Hiding in the Mist Technique] which was in a form of a scroll to Rin. When he was informed as such, naturally Anko was expecting for her to be given something too, at least a cool jutsu. Her expectation for the training was also the reason why she was getting a bit impatient waiting for Kajirama to show up even though it was still a bit too early.

"Anko!" And speaking of the devil, he's here, Anko thought briskly.

Kajirama was waving at him with a half-sprint speed from the other side of her position. One look, and Anko was able to tell that he had just woken up, with the bed hair and everything. Which she found amusing and laughed. "About time you showed up, Kajirama. I was tempted on finding you myself if you didn't arrive much earlier."

"Oy, you're the one who's here early. I never thought you would get here at this early of a time in the morning." Kajirama protested as he arrived at the tree where Anko was sitting down. "Let's go, my Oba-chan is preparing breakfast for us, I already informed her of your visit."

Anko's eyes lit up adorably. "Neat!"
